Fair warning!!! Do NOY buy a used vehicle from Freeport Ford unless you're looking for a LEMON!! We were sold a 2020 Ford Escape and within the first 2 weeks the rear differential goes OUT!! Followed by the computer screen getting hot as FIRE and GLITCHED and could not be used for three days. Took it back to the service department and after being there for about a week, they found NOTHING wrong with it!! Then another week or two goes by and the LEMON starts jumping down the road. Take it back in and there were three plugs that were bad AND the ignition coil was also out and this all occurred within in a two month period of time. The vehicle spent a total of 30 days in the service department, and I felt that they owed us a car payment since they had it for month!!! So at this point, Andrew, the owner's son tells us "don't worry, if anything else goes wrong we'll put you into another vehicle". Well the last week of April 2026 the car started randomly turning off at red lights,and a message would pop up telling you to put the car in park and restart it, like seriously?¿!¡ This ALL occurred in approximately a two and a half month period. Well I spoke to Andrew, whom by the way is the owner's Son. He said he had never heard anything like the last issue but said don't worry, if anything else occurs he'd get us into another vehicle. Well my husband and I figured that they'd find something similar and get us into it. Not exactly true!! They had a 2019 (year older than the they sold us), granted it had 25K miles on it but the we have is a year newer with 50K miles and here's the kicker, they were trying to say that the MSRP is 29,000, so for 10 grand more, ya they'd get us into something else. What an absolute joke. So here we sit with a humongous and there's not a damned thing we can do about it!!! THANKS A LOT FREEPORT FORD!!!! Buyer beware when purchasing a used car from them and do yourself a favor, read all the negative reviews from different review sites. Trust me you'll be glad that you didn't buy a lemon from there and bought a vehicle from a more reputable dealership and didn't get a JUNKER from FREEPORT FORD!!!!! read more

Bought a 2011 Dodge Journey from them in March great salesman who helped a lot but have had it for 4 months and already have to replace bearings,right lower control arm,struts, toe control arm as well as breaks and break calipers. This shouldn't happen 4 months after buying a vehicle and three weeks after I purchased the vehicle the alternator went out and that cost me 700$ they have been no help at all and stated there is nothing they can do about it. read more

I bought the managers car from fairway and they guaranteed this vehicle was great went through all their checks and was treated very nicely. 7 days after buying this vehicle a 2011 the radio and heat control screens went back my turn signal sensors don't work it says all my doors and trunk are open, tire pressure monitor going off and heat doesn't work due to screen being out. I took it back for them to look at wiring in car and they explained they would have to charge me due to not getting the warranty 7 days ago. I would need to pay the fee to diagnose and then a fee to fix whatever is wrong. I have not even made my first payment to them and this place lied and I will never purchase a vehicle again at this place. Even knowlton motors fixes cars just bought but not fairway. CAVEAT EMPTOR: I'm out almost $18,000, have no title, and a vehicle that has been deemed not "road safe." During my dealings with Fairway Ford, they've acted unprofessionally. unethically, dishonestly, and in bad faith. Unfortunately, there are too many problems with the transaction AND the vehicle to list here. I've already filed a consumer fraud complaint with the State of Illinois Attorney General and will post updates as I receive them. If you would like to know specifics, please contact me. I will happily share my experience if it helps someone else avoid making the same mistake I made. Please inspect your vehicle thoroughly before buying it, or better yet, take it to an independent third party to have it inspected. I bought the vehicle under extenuating circumstances, which some may consider self-imposed duress. I lost my house, about 85% of my contents, and all 3 vehicles in the South Carolina flood on Oct. 4, 2015. I needed a vehicle quickly for my wife as we had already spent almost $1000 for a rental car while we tried to replace all three vehicles, find a place to live, and begin piecing our lived back together (which is still far from done). I explained all of this to the salesperson and begged for his honesty, candor, and fair dealing. Unfortunately, I received none. It's disappointing that there are still people out there like this. Where do I start. I work in customer service and I have never been so disappointed with the kind of customer service my husband and I received. We bought a vehicle from Caleb Hanson a few months ago (who was EATING in front of us while we sat with him waiting to finish the deal, which I thought was very unprofessional). Before we did we asked for him to get a vehicle transferred in from another location, which I assumed wouldn't be difficult. When we went in to test drive it they ended getting us the wrong vehicle, supposedly sold the other one, and even that day didn't care to be to apologetic about it(STRIKE 1). Working in the industry we gave him the benefit of the doubt, because hey people make mistakes... we ended up purchasing the vehicle that they brought in for us instead thinking that overall it was the same vehicle just less miles, more money, and more perks. Even after this first incident we had to go back in and RESIGN all the paper work because he didn't realize banks don't like PO Box's (STIKE 2). Recently, we realized the vehicle is not what we had thought we were getting and I went back to them to have them Make it right. Granted I knew we weren't going to get everything back we already put into the vehicle we purchased. However, they were not willing to even try and be apologetic or sympathetic about the situation (STRIKE 3). At this time we stormed out because again I work in customer service and when you have an upset customer you should be apologetic and do your best to make it right, otherwise you lose their business and probably all of their friends business too. I am sharing this because I am upset at the fact that this company and the salesman apparently care more about their commission check then trying to get repeat customers or any referrals because if anyone asks me going forward what I think about Fairway Ford I'm going to tell them the truth, and that is: I would NEVER purchase a vehicle from them again. Nothing but a bunch of crooks! Something went wrong with my transmission before I did anything I called Ford and talked to someone in the service department told them what was going on and asked if there was any kind of warranty on my car they said no! So I bought a used transmission and had it put in well the guy that put it in said did you know there was a warranty on part of the transmission I said no Ford told me there wasn't any. The car had to be towed to ford for them to program it well come to find out the new transmission we got was bad, well we told them the date and time I called and asked about the warranty and told them we were told there was none well they looked it up and magically there was one but they would do nothing about it because we put a used transmission in it wtf were we supposed to do just leave the car sit? So then it got towed back to the shop it was worked on at they pulled the 2nd bad transmission out we took it back exchanged it for another with only 14000 miles well guess what that one was bad too. We called corporate and pretty much got the same run around the lady said didn't you get cards about the warranty um no I got nothing if I knew there was some kinda warranty do you think I would have took it somewhere where I would have had to pay outta pocket so I guess corporate Ford is ok with their companies lying to customers! While at Ford in Freeport the Service manager wouldn't even get off his butt to come tell us all this he had one of his lackeys do it. I will never buy another Ford product period and definitely will never recommend anyone go to Fairway for in Freeport!!!! read more

Went there with a loan from my credit union. I was pressured into filling out a credit check form and was told it was for the credit union to approve the vehicle. Come to find out they ran my credit. Not only that but the car I picked out was later sold to another customer. Upon leaving the dealership I was never asked to leave a deposit to hold the vehicle, I assumed since we did the paperwork the car was mine I was just waiting for final approval from my credit union. The salesman took very little interest in me as a customer, his attitude seemed as if I was bothering him and all he did was small talk. Finally this is the first dealership that I have been to that the dress code is blue jeans, athletic shoes and a bright orange bowling shirt. Very unprofessional to say the least. Needless to say the salesman offered to find me another car, but when you are car shopping you kinda want the vehicle now, not in a couple of weeks, but hey maybe that is just me. read more
