Over the years we have purchased 3 vehicles from them, and unfortunately three was not our lucky number. In terms of customer service, the first two had zero issues, and if we had stopped there they would have gotten a 5 star rating, but this last purchase turned into an absolute nightmare. Internally they have some serious communication problems, but to me the really sad part about it was that they admitted it was their mistakes, but still refuse to make them right.
We were lied to about the factory warranty coverage, we were told there would be none, and ended up buying their warranty. Later when we went to make a claim on it we received the run around and then we were told by another dealer that the factory warranty was still in play, and they did all repairs for free. A few months later we had another issue and this time had to use the road side assistance program they include with the warranty. When we submitted for re-reimbursement we received a check for an even $20. Not exactly what I'd call re-reimbursement. The warranty company stated it was short because of the way Barkau had written the ticket.
We also had a problem with our trade in. The deal was we traded in a car in exchange for them paying off the balance on my truck, thus making the truck free and clear. Then we would take a new loan on the car we bought from them. A week later when they received the title for the truck from the lender they accidentally signed it into their own inventory. It then took them six months to correct it. During that time I called them every few weeks to check the status, they never once called me. Six months ... for a title transfer.
We had a few other issues as well, but the jest of it is when it comes time to own up and take responsibility, they flat out refuse. read more
