Freeport Bakery is a Sacramento staple! They're known for their amazing baked goods and cakes and are very reliable and consistent with their high quality products. They have a small parking lot, but there's also street parking available on the neighborhood streets. You can order ahead of time online or in the store and they offer custom orders and seasonal specials. On our latest visit we stopped in ahead of the Christmas holiday looking for a birthday cake. While holiday pre-orders were closed they still had a stocked business ready for walk-ins. We arrived about thirty minutes before they opened and there was already a long line of people- both picking up pre-orders and hoping for walk-in treats like us. Once they opened the line started moving and they were a well oiled machine! They had plenty of staff to help and a lot of baked goodies ready to sell. We were able to purchase a 7in carrot cake with a "Happy Birthday" message written on it, along with a peppermint pie, and some hand pies. They packed everything so well and made sure to remind us of instructions for refrigerating the pie and cake. You can tell that this small business knows what they're doing, and the long holiday line backs up that the community knows it too. Our items were absolutely delicious and our birthday girl along with our holiday party guests enjoyed everything.

One of my go to places for desserts, especially during the holidays. They make everything from cakes and pies to bread and pastries. This place can get busy so parking can be hit or miss. They have a small parking lot which sits in between Marie's Donuts and the bakery. When it gets super busy, your best bet is to park in the neighborhood as the parking lot can get jammed up. I have tried many of their cakes, my favorite is their fruit basket. No cash, credit cards or tap to pay. They don't do many custom cakes in my experience. Pros: everyone that's helped me has been patient and answered all my questions. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of baked goods they have so they have all been so patient with me. Even when it gets busy (especially during holiday pick ups), the line moves quickly since they are very organized. It's a small intimate space, only a few tables for dine in. They also serve coffee and tea. Cons: parking can be hard to find when it's busy.

Went here to get a cake for my Mother in Law's Birthday. This place has been around for so many years and makes quality cakes and pastries. It's not the cheapest place but they have fantastic stuff here. My wife had ordered the carrot cake before had so we were just picking it up. It is always busy here and this day was no different. There was a short line. Only three people ahead of us. The line moves fast. The cakes are displayed on the left side in glass cases and just in the middle are the pastries. I got a custard wheel and it was so yummy. The wife got a cheese filled pastry. So good here. They have some tables outside so you can eat right there. Inside are two tables to. The place is pretty small so you are lucky to sit down when they are really busy. The carrot cake here is not made with any nuts or raisins. Which is great for my nut allergy daughter. I have never seen that at any other bakery. So pretty cool. The taste is great also. We had to get some Halloween cookies for the family also. An extra treat.

This bakery is dangerously good. Lowkey happy it's in Sacramento and not close to my house because I'd probably be here far too often. I was a big fan of the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie.

cherry birthday cake

We walked in and got the cutest cake ever! It's every girl's dream pinterest cake with the cherries and the icing decorations. It was chocolate and cherry flavored, so it was on theme and quite delicious. However, when we were cutting into it, the cake kind of just fell apart. The frosting completely disconnected from the bread. I mean, it's gonna go down our stomachs anyway, but it was so hard to cut through it haha.

Iconic sacramento bakery that I'm surprised I've never been. It's super cute and warm. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors which I was surprised by. Very organized too with a door for entry and exiting. Was also surprised by the huge array for pastries and cakes! They kept bringing new stuff out too as it was ready and I was a lil overwhelmed by all the choices. Decently priced too. I got the pretzel, cheese danish, and cookie. They were all absolutely delicious. The cheese danish wasn't like overpowering sweet like other bakeries. Felt like I was eating a semi sweet cheese cake. And the crust wasn't greasy for chewy like some chains danish's. The pretzel was soooo yummy! I love a good pretzel. Wasn't as chewy as traditional but the flavor was great end it was super moist. Will definitely be coming back for more in the future.

Really good decaf americano. Their short bread cookies were also so cute as they were valentines themed. I actually liked the texture of the non valentines day one more. Although they're not the best bakery in the area to me I really love the cozy vibes, prices are reasonable and staff is friendly! My bf and I would also def come back for the pizza bagel, nice that they have a microwave for you to heat things up yourself

Omg. They have burnt almond!

Love this local treasure! They have been here for 38 yrs and counting. Known for so many awesome treats - such as their famous Grandma's cupcakes (yes, it's really Gma's recipe!), German style pretzels, and...of course!...the legendary Burnt Almond cake! The burnt almond cake is a piece of nostalgia for me as i grew up on this cake. They are celebrating their anniversary with throwback Thursday treat specials...today was Grandma's cupcake for $1.25....but I also pre-ordered their chocolate fudge cake which will be on TBT special in 2 wks! Recommend to pre-order the cake as those must be prepared well in advance and are sure to sell out fast! Regardless if you come to visit for the anniversary fun or not...a visit here is like coming home.

I have been a frequent flyer of Freeport Bakery for years. When I first discovered the bakery so long ago, it was because of their melt in your mouth cookies, and at the time, they were the only bakery that made tasty challah bread. Fast forward, this is where we purchase cakes for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or other life events. Years ago, the bakery was much more amenable to customizing cakes then they are now. They're more of what you see is what you get, which doesn't always work when you're looking to make something special just a little bit more special. Customer service from years ago was super friendly, and they always made me feel like that family member who just walked through the door. Customer Service now is still met with a smile, but they definitely have lost that community feel edge. The pastries have gotten to be pricey, so my go to is always for that special occasion cake. They do have designated parking spaces, but the customers from the donut place next-door tend to use those spaces as well. So parking might be challenging.

Beautiful!

6/14/2025- My all time favorite cake ! Especially for special occasions- Plenty of cakes to choose from online-.. Son ordered cake a week before and picked up yesterday! Perfect- moist and love all the fresh fruit-!!

Amy T.

It was a busy week, and I forgot to submit an online order. My usual is the quarter sheet fruit tart for birthdays. I called the bakery Saturday afternoon to order 9 inch fruit tart and a quiche Lorraine. Gave my credit card info and received a text receipt. Pick up the next morning was just as smooth. There was a steady flow of customers but the bakery was well-staffed. The fruit tart was colorful. I received instructions for reheating the quiche. The birthday girl at work was pleasantly surprised. The rest of the crew enjoyed both items. I miss the pre-COVID hours but I'm so grateful to have this bakery in the area.

I heard good things about this bakery so it was the perfect place to grab a dessert after my lunch. I visited on Sunday noon around 1:30pm and there was a short line. As soon as I entered the bakery, it smelled so delicious! They sell variety of pastry, cookies, cakes, and drinks. I bought an almond croissant and it was good. The filling had the perfect sweetness. The croissant was a bit soft but could be baked a little more so that it could be crunchier crust.

After all these years, I would have a craving from time to time so I always return and say hello to the owner. I've been coming to Estelle's Bakery & Patisserie for years since I used to live only a block away,…read moreso it became one of my favorite places to walk to for tea and desserts. I've since moved out of state, but during my last visit in January this year, the treats and drinks were just as delicious as I remembered. This was always one of my favorite spots to spend a few hours catching up with girlfriends over tea and pastries. The ambience is lovely and gives off fancy tea party vibes, making it perfect for casual conversations, book discussions, or just relaxing with something sweet. My personal favorites are the rose macaron and the mont blanc desserts. If I'm feeling hungry, I usually order the ratatouille, and the vanilla bean French toast is amazing when I want something sweet but filling. Matcha is always my go-to drink here too (though it's on the sweet side, so I don't think it's ceremonial grade). I remember my first visit; It was when I stopped by later in the day looking for a birthday cake for my son's 8th birthday about five years ago. I ended up choosing their chocolate mousse cake on a whim since it was one of the cakes they still had on display, and it turned out to be a good decision. My son loved it, but it was too chocolatey for me so he ended up having most of the cake. Still one of the memories I remember most from here. It was something I kept in mind that if I wanted more options and variety, I should arrive earlier in the day. There are a few downsides that keep this from being a full 5 stars for me though. The parking lot is very small and street parking can be difficult, especially during busy hours. The place gets crowded very easily, which is why I usually preferred walking there when I lived nearby. There's often a guard stationed at the front kindly holding the door open, though I imagine that's also due to the neighborhood. Pricing is definitely on the expensive side, but honestly that's fairly expected with a patisserie. My biggest issue is that service can noticeably decline when they're overwhelmed. Depending on when you visit, the line can get absurdly long (almost out the front door), and I've experienced slower service and even had my drink mixed up with another customer's order once. Since I order oat milk due to lactose intolerance, getting the order correct is pretty important. Thankfully, when the bakery isn't overly busy and adequately staffed, the employees are attentive, friendly, and very helpful with the ordering process if you have questions. It is still one of the Sacramento bakeries I miss after moving away. It was so lovely to have a bakery down the street from home.

I got the matcha croissant ive been hearing about, the new blueberry cream croissant and the mango passionfruit entremet. The Croissants were a huge flop. Blueberry had barely enough filling inside-the cream itself was tasty but croissant was rough in texture and not flaky. Matcha was a bit more flaky and had more filling-I wouldn't say GENEROUS amount as some have said but maybe I just got a bad one. The cream was too subtle -it was more like vanilla with a hint of matcha. The entremet was the only one that didnt suck-it was delicious but again I wouldn't say anywhere in Sacramento has wowed me yet with their entremets compared to places in the bay except for the ones that ginger Elizabeth has had in the past-the flavor itself was on point, i will say the texture of the entremets have a majority layer of the jelly part-if they could perfect the variety of layers you're supposed to get in each bite I would be more impressed as thats the whole point of enjoying an entremet. Honestly I should have just gotten one pastry to try in one day as they are pricey-i paid 31 not including the tip fot my pastries, and in this economy one cannot waste that much on disappointing sweet treats lol

I have…read moreheard Monday's are the day to visit though, because they offer sweet and savory biscuits (though you need to pre-order). It's a small shop and there's usually a line, but they move pretty quickly and it's nice to have time to decide what you're going to order. On my last visit we picked up a couple brownies, a cookie, and one of their savory corn muffins with bacon and jalapeno. All the items are prices well, and are very fresh. I loved the brownies, especially the one with nuts. They're the perfect fudgy texture and while they're a good size, it's hard to stop eating them once you start. I recommend stopping in early for the most variety, they're the type of spot that once they run out of something it's gone for the day, and everything I've tried so far has been delicious.

Came to Midtown Bakery for Biscuit Monday's! They a have bunch of little goodies, but if you're…read morehere for their biscuits, you have to preorder as pickup is from 7-9 am. My boyfriend and I finally had the time to come on a Monday (after the gym lol). We ordered a couple of items to try and I'll tell you I was full after a couple of bites and it carried me for the rest of day. We ordered jalapeño cheddar and classic sage sausage patty, egg, & cheese biscuit sandwich and biscuit 2 pack: blueberry and brown sugar biscuit. While picking up my boyfriend was recommended the cinnamon roll and he caved and got it! We had our pickup time at 7:30, but we showed up a little early and got our food around 7:20. There was a bit of a wait since there were some people ahead of us, so I'd recommend you going a bit earlier than your time just in case you're in a rush. We headed home to try everything. We really enjoyed the biscuits themselves as they didn't leave a dry or grainy feeling in your mouth. They had a good crust while being airy and light inside. The sandwiches were good, but they were anything crazy. Size wise it is small for the price you get, but I get it. It's all house made and fresh. We definitely think the biscuits themselves are the standout. The blueberry and brown sugar biscuits were a sweet tooth's heaven. The cinnamon roll wasn't too sweet either and had great texture and basically melted in your mouth. I never knew about midtown bakery before midtown biscuits so I would definitely come back to check out their other items, while getting those biscuits!

Some of my favorites: 1. Croissants- all of them lovely... can't miss! 2. Smoke Salmon Tartine- some of my favorite things balanced on top of a yummy toast (roasted carrots, creamy cream spread, daisies, and of course salmon) 3. Red bean sesame cheesecake- sounds crazy, but quite good and I'm not even a fan of red beans 4. Mceggggg- yes, five stars for the "5G" Sando!

Faria's traditional croissant in 2025 was top notch and comparable to croissants in Paris, it was THAT good. Better than even Bay Area croissants. It was fluffy, buttery and flakey. With the right amount of butter ratio. But something changed this year. Now it's flat, quite dry, w/ lowered butter ratio, and higher sugar content. Like Faria decided to cut corners? Sorry, if this is wrong. But it's now a MID croissant, when it was damn near perfect. I tried it a few times this year, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. But obvious recipe change. What happened, FARIA?!?!?!?! When feedback was given under comments on their IG, they also blocked me. Weird. Why the defensiveness? Again this review is left w all due respect to what was a perfect croissant. No need to change a great product.
