I ordered a 7 inch cake and individual tarts from them for a baby shower. Really great stuff!! I am from out of town so when we were planning this thing, I just went with the reviews. I would've liked to have had a custom cake but since they aren't doing those, I had to go with the options they have. I was not disappointed! I got the lemon cooler cake with the modern flower decoration and a dozen individual fruit tarts. Placed the order about a week ago. Called them yesterday to confirm that the order was ready and yes it was! The lemon cooler cake was very very moist!! Lots of lemon which we loved. There was just enough frosting to taste sweet without going overboard. Quite light too! The fruit tarts were also delicious! The custard was just sweet enough and they had strawberries, kiwis, grapes etc. The people at the store were very nice too. They have a parking lot so don't worry about not finding parking. Pricing-wise it is a tad on the higher side (I spent $139 for the 7 inch cake, including a $20 fee for decoration and the individual tarts). But they are delicious so I thought it was worth the extra money! Recommend them for your next event for sure! read more

I purchased a cake online a month prior and selected a time slot for pickup and unfortunately they do not stand behind their pick up times!! This is unfortunate. The cake quality is decent quality however after having to wait and belittled by an employee when I asked a simple question about them having a separate reservation line. We are so glad we chose Susan and the Wedding Department at Freeport Bakery for our wedding cake and dessert bar. From the very beginning, Susan was incredibly responsive and helpful. She patiently answered all of my questions and worked closely with us to find options that fit perfectly within our budget. Susan was an absolute rockstar, going above and beyond with number crunching to make sure everything was just right! They coordinated drop off at our venue which appeared to go smoothly because I had not a clue when they arrived and when they left - they communicated with our coordinator and venue manager which really helped alleviate some day of stressors. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the dessert selection, and most of it was gone by the end of the night - which is exactly what we hoped for! I often come in as I work nearby. I usually order coffee and a croissant. Sometimes I will order cakes, cookies, and tarts for special occasions. I was disappointed today when I ordered a ham and cheese croissant. Although the croissant was good, there was bright yellow mustard, not dijion, and no cheese at all on a really thick and unpleasant piece of ham. For $6.95 a piece it's disappointing. The baked goods are so great but the service for the second time has been disappointing. Today after spending $100 and waiting in line for 20 minutes (which was fine, I expected it) I had to wait another 15 minutes for an Americano after paying and being completely done with my order. I was frustrated but tried to just go with the flow and then half the coffee spilled in my car because the lid didn't even fit properly. This is the second time something like this happened.....I know they are often busy (they serve amazing baked goods) I just wish the service was better. I left feeling so disappointed. read more

Hands down another great bakery! I've been coming here for a long time. I haven't visit this bakery as much as want to because they no longer carry red velvet cake. However, my mom and brother love the fruit basket cake so this is where we order their birthday cakes. Also, we love to try their seasonal cake and treats. I bought a seasonal cake yesterday for my cousin's 30th birthday and it was delicious. I bought the salted Carmel with buttercream frosting. I have ordered quite a few cakes from here, including a giant sheet cake from my wedding and I can say they have all been delicious! The cute little bakery is a good size and an inviting environment, and the staff are all very kind and willing to give you recommendations. They are a little bit more on the expensive side, but you can get it by the slice before you get a whole cake. My personal favorite is the fruit basket cake, but I've probably tried at least five different other types of cakes from there and they all have been really good. I was raised in Sacramento and have lived here almost my entire life and Freeport Bakery is a staple. Cakes are incredible so this review has nothing to do with quality and taste of their cakes and pastries. Last week I went in to get my mom slice of the fruit basket as it's her favorite. It was maybe 50 minutes before closing. The person who helped me has worked there for a very long time. I asked her for a slice of the fruit basket and she said, Oh no we don't cut that one. I was surprised because I have bought slices of it before. And so I asked if it's a practice they no longer do. She looked at the clock and said, oh no it's too late I won't be able to sell the rest and then we'll have to give it to Loaves and Fishes. I was shocked and pretty disgusted with that comment. I understand not wanting to cut a cake if you won't be able to sell the rest, but to make that comment of having to then donate it to an organization that feeds and supports our unhoused community was crazy and unkind. If you as a business don't want to donate to local organizations, then don't donate just don't share those gross thoughts with your customers because it left a sour taste in my mouth that no Freeport pastry can get rid of. read more

They were incredibly easy to collaborate with and demonstrated impressive flexibility in accommodating our requests. The prices were fair, reflecting the high quality of their baked goods. And speaking of quality, their cakes were delicious, a true testament to their baking expertise. Beyond the cake, their mini chocolate chip cookies were a delightful treat, but the real star of the show was the chocolate coconut macarons. Honestly the macarons were the bomb dot com. Expect a wait on the weekends. CAKES They have so many different kind of cakes. From classics - Carrot Cake, Fruit Tarts, Cheesecake, Tiramisu and Seasonal - Tres Leches, Burnt Almond and Lemon Zenger etc. There will be a cake that you will like! The Burnt Almond Cake we got was moist, rich and incredible! PASTRIES You name it, they have it here. My favorite is the Nutella Croissant and Chocolate Dipped Shortbread cookies. It's so good and freshly baked. Not to mention, reasonably priced. Where can get can a cookie for $1.40 these days? The staffs are super nice. Their pastries are awesome!! I always go there for their morning buns, so yummy and my favorite!! BUT, their costumer service is terrible. My friend and I went in there this morning, and we were not greeted with a "hello", or Good Morning" the three girls behind the counter just stared at us (Gen Z stare) and never asked how can I help you. Typically when you enter a store it's expected to be greeted by staff, but apparently that was too much to ask for at Freeport Bakery. I stepped forward closer to the counter and finally one girl said "I can help you" after about 5 minutes of awkwardly standing there staring at each other. No smile from her, seemed like all the staff working were miserable being there. As I'm deciding what I wanted to order I look over and a kind women was picking up her cake. She was excitedly telling the women it's her anniversary, and the staff member dryly said "oh happy anniversary" with an expression on her face like she could care less and just wanted to retreat to the back of the bakery. No smile from her, she just seemed miserable. That was super off putting witnessing that. I then decided on the quiche, but had a few question about what veggies were in it. The worker gave me a look like I was stupid for asking and answered in a monotone voice "broccoli" but didn't care to elaborate on what other veggies came with it. I decided to get it anyway and hurry to get away from the super uncomfortable and off putting encounter. Super disappointed!! I've been going there for years and years and have never experienced anything like that before. I don't care to go back after that. They need to improve on their customer service. You'll find what you need :) I been here many times for their apple pie and the fruit basket cake and it's just so good and filling! I recommend calling in a day or two ahead if you need a whole cake. You can order and pay on the phone. Super easy. There have been times I walked in and they had a whole cake and pie available but don't take that risk during holidays. Just pre-order on the phone. I think you can also pre-order on their website too. Every now and then I'll order some cookies or pastries when I come in to pick up a cake or pie.
