There is some outdoor seating spaces and a few spaces of parking. This place is primarily purchase and take home kind of place. Today I went looking for a flier de lis cake which they now only make on special order. My family also enjoys their fruit basket cakes. I needed a cake to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. I usually get cakes from Nothing Bundt Cake, but was desperate for a change. We googled Freeport Bakery and I was impressed by the photos. The bakery was small, but quaint. I could tell they had some good stuff because it was packed! Folks were rolling in and rolling out with a smiles of satisfaction. We went in and looked around. The lady at the counter was so helpful. She went over ingredients for a number of cakes, since my family has food allergies. I decided on the Lemon cake. It was three layers of cake and lemon tart filling. The frosting was light and creamy with a hint of lemon to it. She offered to add a greeting to it. My husband ordered a chocolate dipped shortbread cookie while we waited. He loves it so much, he had me get a second one. I asked about a mascarpone cookie with apricot and raspberry. Her honest opinion which made me curious so I ordered a regular shortbread cookie and tried the mascarpone. I ate them later that day, but they were both amazing! It tasted exactly the same as years ago which was pleasant surprise! They even added the custom birthday writing beautifully. As I look at other reviews in the last few months, there's more than a dozen complaining about poor customer service. Quite a few have been customers for years. Thats unfortunate. For the last couple of years I've been ordering cakes here for the office. From retirement gatherings to birthdays. Our office is fairly close so I always tell everyone to try their cakes. I try to support local businesses. However, customer service is pretty hit or miss. I'm finding that it's been more misses than hits. The pastries aren't the best but the cakes are good. The quality of the cakes are fair for the price but dealing with poor customer service makes it not worth the trouble. I won't be buying cakes here for the office anymore. I've also purchased birthday cakes here for the last few years for various family members birthdays. That's over. I don't recommend this spot. We absolutely love this bakery and come here for birthday cakes often. I got one for my grandma today; a fudge cake and it was amazing. The writing on it was cute and done fast. Super reasonably priced (40$ for a full size cake) Tried their white mocha and it was also amazing. But they don't take cash anymore, so I had to have someone Venmo me the amount and then will pay them back in cash later. Which was an Inconvenience but they were super helpful about it. Hello old friend. We meet again! I was in town for business. My first time here since I moved 14 years ago. Still cute. Still filled with all the deliciousness. Still staffed by the friendliest people. I wanted to take it all back to Chicago with me. Sadly, I couldn't as St Patrick's Day is too far out and I still have a bit of travel to do so none of the shamrock cookies would keep until I saw the Littles. I did settle for a 1/8 sheet cake sized coffee cake. The flavor was chocolate cherry and it was amazing. If you're in the area and need to bring something for a brunch or just want something to have at home. I highly recommend 1/8 of a sheet cake will take care of me and my husband for the week. Didn't get much else on this trip, but would definitely consider me some back on my next adventure. For what it's worth, Sacramento has really stepped up in the game. I love love love this bakery! Everything I have ever purchased from here is so delicious. I finally had time to swing by and they had it in stock - the fresh Strawberry & Bavarian cream croissant!! I've seen posts on their Instagram about this croissant, but never was able to catch it in time. It is so delicious! It is not too sweet, and the croissant is pretty soft. I have only gotten their pastries from here and everything has been delicious: croissants (original, chocolate, almond, and now strawberry with chocolate ganache and Bavarian cream), shortbread cookies, shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate, cupcakes, chocolate and cream cheese muffin, pumpkin and cream cheese muffin. Everything I have tried has tasted soft, moist and fresh. I would love to order a cake or fruit tart one day, I know it would be delicious! They have a small parking lot on the side which fills up fast, but it is pretty convenient. The service is very specialized, the workers are really nice too. It also serves as a small café. No one finished their slices. They have a self taught baker in the family & her items are always top notch so I wanted something that would be just as good as hers, if not better. What I brought from Freeport didn't come close. Over the summer a neighbor bought a lemon cooler sheet cake from Freeport for her own party, and it was SO good!! It was everything a person would expect from Freeport. Moist, flavorful, and beautiful. I thought, "Ok, my cake from May was just a fluke. Good to know." Normally, I bake my own cakes but my husband suggested I run to Freeport this week & see what they had for his birthday. I bought the seasonal caramel and chocolate cake that has dipped dried citrus slices on top. Beautiful cake! Masculine and pretty. It was perfect. I set it out for 20 minutes before serving. The frosting tasted like butter, not like caramel. The chocolate cake was dry. My husband said it tasted like the cake had been made several days prior to being decorated. I have to agree. It didn't taste like a fresh, moist cake. Again, I was disappointed. I'm not sure what to do with the rest of this cake. I'm also not sure if I'll ever pick up a cake from Freeport again. My mom and I was spending time together for a mother-daughter day outing. We stopped by Freeport Bakery to satisfy our (really her) sweet tooth lol. The staff was friendly and was helpful with any questions my mom had. She picked up a slice of cake (lemon zinger. Which is lemon-y and smooth!), a couple raspberry thumbprint cookies(loved the buttery flavor, melt of your mouth flavor), lemon bars, and an almond something cookie (the name I'm 100% forgetting). We arrived right before closing.. there were no lines. We were able to spend the time we needed to pick up our treats, and pay for them. Freeport Bakery's raspberry Danishes are SOOOO good! I stopped by the other day to pick up a couple of items, and ended up leaving with a raspberry Danish and an orange scone. I like my scones super sweet, and drenched in icing, but this scone was only as sweet as a scone should be. If you like mildly sweet scones, these are for you (not for me). The Danish was just perfect. I was thinking, "This had better be one of the best Danishes I've ever tried, or I'm going to be mad that I could have gotten four of them for six bucks at Costco." It didn't disappoint. The bread was great, the icing was perfect, but most importantly, the raspberry filling tasted fresh, sweet, and tart (all at the same time). I was looking forward to trying some of the items I've seen in the Yelp pictures, such as an apple galette or a fruit tart, but didn't find any this time. For whatever reason, the bakery didn't have very many fruity items in stock (maybe they use seasonal fruits). I was also looking forward to comparing their cake slices to a certain one of their competitors, but didn't notice any slices for sale. I didn't ask, but it looked like they only sold whole cakes. The customer service was great. The girls behind the counter were all friendly, and all seemed eager to help everyone. I think I was in and out in under three minutes. Been buying cakes here for 20+years but not really happy with customer service here. I picked up a cake for my boss today and I purchased two candles to place on the top. The candles were priced $2.25 on the back of each and when I paid the girl told me it was $6.47. I showed her the back of the box and said it should've been 4.50 plus tax. She replied that that was the original price that they sold them for in Canada! Please see the pictures. Their crust was hard and it tasted stale. I'm usually for the crumbly, soft crust. Their custard didn't have any flavor. Then I tried a slice of their lemon cake and it was so dry. This has been my go-too bakery for every event, office party, gifts, etc. since about 2003. I am not sure what is happening, but in the last year the customer service has taken the wrong term. Sometimes the person is incredibly slow, rude, or just condescending, telling me that what I am asking for doesn't exist even though I know it does because I bought it time and time again (not that they are out, that what I was describing they do not make, which they do because it was on their website). The worst was watching the person in the back stick their hand in a bag of cake toppings and sprinkle it all over the cake after I witnessed her handling different items and boxes. There has been inconsistencies in quality, but still better than anything you can get at a store so those I was not too concerned about. I really hope this is just a blip and the services comes back around. Until then I will look busy until one of the OG staff are available, or order ahead when possible. read more

The 4 stars is for their lack of variety for those with diety restrictions. As in they don't have a single gluten free or gluten friendly item.
