I have been getting my nails done for years and this is the worst place I have ever been to. I was staying on the Island and needed a simple Fill. The man who did my nails was rough with my hands, made my nails bleed and my nails were so crooked that I PERSONALLY HAD TO FILE MY OWN NAILS at the salon to make them even. I literally did my own nails. My nail polish was not even put on right and my nails were so damaged that I had to go someplace else and get them fixed. The people were rude and the man got mad when I mentioned how bad my nails looked. Save your money and go someplace else. The worse nail salon I have ever been to. Today a friend of a friend, a woman of color, was asked not to return because she "made the staff uncomfortable." This is an intelligent, polite, professional woman who liked her manicure and tipped the staff generously. She asked why, but was given no explanation. The owner behaved in a threatening manner towards her. I do not know the victim, except by reputation, but the racist behavior at the salon was unconscionable. Great little find! I was in town while my husband played music locally and wanted my nails done on a Sunday, which I thought would be tough. They were great. Got me in that afternoon for one of the best pedicures I've had in a long time. Sugar scrub and an extended, great massage. My mani was great too. Definitely glad I ignored the old reviews. I've been to this place many times some good experiences and some bad. I like the fact that they take walk-ins but today I had a horrible experience with the owners husband! He was so rude I had asked to soak for a few minutes because I feel as though that's part of the experience is to relax and it helps with the actual process of having a pedicure. They said no no big hurry because they had other people coming in but there was no one there at the time. I said I wasn't gonna stay then because I'm not gonna be rushed through a pedicure and he freaked out and was so rude shoeing me away. OK so you shoe me away and I won't be back... Terrible customer service, I requested a specific person and asked her name. The owner Thommy, said she has a Vietnamese name, just call her "Money". The he wrote a "$" sign. If that wasn't degrading enough for his employee, I tried to walk in twice with a gift certificate, but they were busy. I had been given a gift certificate for my birthday and wanted a good pedicure so I made an appointment at their Clinton salon. I asked to see the manicurist to make sure she was the one I was hoping for. I have been to this salon before and had poor manicures by untrained people. Thommy greeted me at the the door and said PICK YOUR POLISH! I asked to see the manicurist first. Thommy got extremely upset and thought I was questioning his word. I said that I was not, just wanted to make sure she was the woman I wanted. He was not listening. He got enraged and began shouting at me. I tried to explain that I've had a bad manicure before. If you've had an infection or ingrown toenail, you understand. He ordered me out. I came back in and tore up my gift certificate and told him I will never come there again. Worst experience ever! I scheduled an appointment for a fill on two different occasions at this salon over the last few months and when I arrived -- BOTH TIMES -- the owner's wife said "I'm sorry, we don't have time for your appointment, and literally walked out of the room. A woman in the salon who was getting her nails done looked at me and we were both shocked at the rudeness of her response and how she handled this. She made no effort to reschedule or make it right, and just walked out. This place is so convenient to go to! Yes everything is close to each other in freeland but it's nice to know that I can just get off of work and go straight there being that I work right across the street! So I got off at 4:00pm and I asked to get a full set she said yes I could get one she just had to call someone to come help. Anyway I waited patiently for 10 minutes picked my color. So I got helped right away! The ONLY thing I have to complain about is that when I sat down If there's one thing that drives me insane is a rushed manicure and ladies you know that feeling when you're excited to get your nails done but you want them to take their time make it look nice etc.. but no they were in a hurry to leave because they closed at 5:00. A part of me is disappointed because i know you are all saying that maybe I shouldn't be coming in An hour before they closed so it's my fault but then again it shouldn't be that way! I would expect the same service as someone coming in when they first open would be getting :( So I left with half a**ed nails pretty much. 4 were CROOKED! Pros: they have same day appointments and walk ins are welcome. They are nice when they talk to you. They welcome you right as you come in the door. Parking is usually a breeze. The massage chairs are really nice. Cons: their equipment is dirty and they reuse old nail files. After 2 days of having acrylics, I already had a fungus going under my nail and I've never had that before. They only actually have 1 licenced nail person yet they call themselves call themselves a nail salon. They are more interested in having a conversation in a language you don't know understand than talk to you. They take walk ins even when it interferes with their appointments. And they take a long time. Over all, I'd say the cons out weigh the pros on this one.... especially since I'm still waiting on this nasty ugly fungus to go away read more

The service I've received at this nail salon has always been ok. The reason for my three star review is their payment practices. I feel uncomfortable when they insist that I disclose the amount of the tip before they run my card when there is a clearly a place for me to add in the tip on the credit card slip. I don't have a problem leaving a reasonable tip, but it seems shady to insist that it be included in the base amount run on the card. Are they not reporting the tips or what? Also, if you're writing a check, you have to make it out to the owner, not the business name. read more

Please note Clinton Nails and Freeland Nails are owned by the same people. Two weeks ago my 18 year old daughter made us an appointment for new sets of nails. We hadn't done this in awhile and she thought she would treat us. The appointment was made for both of us at 5:00 because my daughter got off at 4:30. My daughter explained to them that we couldn't come any earlier due to our work schedules. We got to our appointment on time and we patiently waited for our turn. Due to Covid we had to wait for them to finish with other customers so we could be seated together. Multiple different people were quickly working on both of our hands at the same time. Even though they didn't close until 6:00 I felt like they were rushing and in a hurry to leave. A young girl who obviously didn't know what she was doing put the fill on my nails and screwed it up so bad another lady had to fix all of them. Towards the end of our appointment the employees started closing shades and turning off lights, the original employee who was working on my nails got up and left the office before she was even done! My daughter paid over $100 for both of us to have nice nails and that wasn't the result. Some of my nails broke within a few days, they didn't grind off the rough edges, and they didn't put the fill on properly. My daughters nails looked like crap too. Two days after her nails were done they started falling off!! I called the office to let them know this happened. They made an appointment for my daughter on Monday morning at 10:00. My daughter arrived for her appointment and they are closed on Mondays! I called again today to schedule an appointment for a fill, to have my nails fixed, and to get new nails for my daughter. When we got their the older guy told her he wouldn't charge her and to pick her color. We start getting our nails done, multiple people working on our hands again. Without putting nails on my daughter the lady starts to paint her nails. I asked why they weren't putting nails on her. The guy came over and said a bunch of stuff, half of which I couldn't understand. He said her nails were too short to put acrylics on, then he walked away. They didn't say her nails were too short the first time and they didn't offer to refund her money! My daughter naturally has very short nails and has gotten nails on multiple occasions from different places. I asked Nancy if they were going to give her a free set of nails when they grew out. She said no because they have no control over her nails coming off. I told her that if the issue wasn't fixed I would never return to their business. She didn't seem to care and did nothing to resolve the issue. She walked away to make a phone call before my nails were finished and yet another lady worked on my nails. Sad to report that as convenient as it is to get my mani's and pedi's here on Saturday mornings, I will not be going back. Let me be clear: The pedicure was wonderful! Great massage, careful polish application and beautiful design. The shellac manicure however, was a nightmare. Three of my fingers are still bleeding at the cuticle and hurt pretty badly. Before I paid, I went to the owner and showed her my fingers, (yes, the blood was visible) and I told her that I saw no reason for that to have happened and that I was not okay with it. She went in the back with the employee, came back out and gave me some lame excuse backing the employee. No apology, no offer of a discount, all I got was a "Have a nice day". Where is the customer service in that? There is no valid reason whatsoever that any customer should EVER leave bleeding and in pain AND still pay full price to top it all off. Shame on you. I was spending a long fourth of July weekend in Freeland, & went to Freeland Nails because it was near my friend's house. The pedicure I received here was the worst I've ever had, but I couldn't really tell until after I got home & looked closely at my toes. The nails were cut to different lengths & unevenly, they weren't filed properly, one toe wasn't covered with polish at the sides - I was amazed at how poor the job was. I called the salon right away to complain & was asked who did my pedicure & why I didn't say something immediately. I told them I didn't know her name & that I honestly couldn't see my toes well at the time, but I was very unhappy with the pedicure & I wanted to come in & have it redone. I was given a hard time about when they could take me & when I did come in the following day, I asked for a refund. I didn't have time for a redo & I had no reason to believe they be able to correct what they hadn't done properly in the first place. The owner accused me of deciding that $35 was too expensive for a pedicure & that I was trying to avoid paying by asking for my money back! I told him that I was accustomed to paying $35 & would he please look at the pedicure for himself to see what a poor job had been done. He refused & asked me again why I didn't come in right away. He was raising his voice & saying he had been in business for years on Whidbey Island & that he wasn't going to refund my money. I told him that if he wouldn't refund my money, I would write a review on Yelp & tell people exactly what happened & dispute the charge with my credit card company. I received a Gift Certificate to Freeland/Clinton nails for Christmas. I went to Clinton nails for a full set and was told to come back in a couple hours or go to Freeland, which I did go back to Clinton and everything was fine. Fast forward 3 maybe 4 weeks later I finally had time to go for a fill and Clinton looked busy so I went to Freeland. I was told to come back in 15 minutes and when I did she looked at my nails and wanted to charge me full price for another full set because it had "been to long." The absolute worst! Charged $32 for my 10-year-old's mani/pedi. My pedi didn't include callous remover and only one coat of polish, but my acrylic tips/gel manicure was the worst. When I said I didn't like the shape of one of my nails, the owner flew into a rage, said she spent over 45 mins. on my nails, and then asked another customer what she thought. I believe that when I pay $115 for a child's mani/pedi, adult pedi and a set of acrylics/gel polish, I should be able to say I don't like the job she did without being ridiculed. In my 63 years, I know what a great manicure looks like, and I have no problem paying for quality work, but this is NOT it ... and then to top it off, the unprofessional sarcastic attitude of the owner ...
