First the nail tech was very rough on my feet. The file was obviously filthy and so aggressively used more skin than nail was removed on my toes. Another tech was doing the manicure at the same time. The toenails were trimmed very poorly. The finger nails were shaped OK. But I was shocked to see the polish was not brought down to the cuticle. This is a photo at 40 hours! I went back to the salon to see what the manager would say about why they left so much space on my nails that at day one it looked like a week long grow out. She said if they polished to the cuticle it would be "uneven". My cuticles are very oval and even. I told her no one ever cut the polish short like that. I will never go back to this salon.

In long 7 months ago, my lovely bride had a massive stroke, and we're still working to get her mobility back to where it needs to be. After so many lifeless months, anything to get her muscles moving (even if someone else does it) helps. We've been having trouble finding massage places that accept her insurance, at least for their massage therapists (it's often the chiropractor who takes it). We decided that since the prices AND the rating here were so good, we would pay out of pocket for one and see how it goes. It's not a new building, and even the parking lot itself feels kinda worse for wear. Inside, this place is quiet and dim. Very relaxing, as advertised. Some twinkling rope lights around the acoustic sub-ceiling. There's a squishy old couch in the waiting room, and some worn wall-to-wall underfoot. The private rooms are small, and there's slow soft piano music everywhere. Lights are low everywhere. We got her set up on a table under a sheet and Leia (I hope I spelled her name correctly) went to work. She had no special training in dealing with folks with neurological problems, but knew a million ways to move joints and get flexibility and movement back. We added the hot stone massage for her feet, so she spent 120 minutes on the table. By the end she was pure jelly, just happily smiling at the ceiling. With the extra half-hour, tax, and tip, it was about $180, which is twice what I expected to spend, but it was so worth it. Driving home, she had movement in her shoulder and hand that has not been there in 7 months. Pretty amazing. She's been getting tension headaches off and on for over a week now, too, and her neck and shoulders released all of that pressure. Her hair looked quite amusing, too. :-) In fact, the place is so good she wants to keep it to herself, and thought about asking me not to review it, because it has to be 5 stars, and she doesn't want it to get overbooked. I pointed out that she might not be the only one who needed massage for more than simple relaxation, though, and she immediately said we had to get the word out.

Lots of street parking. Her spa room is located in a shared space - a couple different business owners have a room with a shared lobby area, but each treatment room is 100% private (and privately owned and operated). My appointments have always been in the evening after work during the week, so I am the only one ever there besides Becky. Her treatment room is warm and serene, with spa music gently playing and a nice heated blanket on her treatment table. I've done both sugaring and waxing with her, and she has great techniques for both. While it doesn't bother me personally, it is important to note this space is below a hair salon with wood floors - so don't be surprised if you hear loud, heavy footsteps once in awhile during treatment. It's not bothersome, just noticeable. Becky also carries some wonderful spa quality products for sale, including natural sunscreen, exfoliant, and my favorite - moisturizing hand sanitizer. She has a pump bottle of the sanitizer on her counter, you must try it! It smells wonderful and not at all like regular hand sanitizer that smells medicinal and dries skin out.

Quiet/meditative atmosphere. The Bad: THE MESSAGE: that little Korean woman beat the shit out of me. Lol. There is a form for you to complete that offer an opportunity to inform them about problem, areas, areas to avoid and etc. They completely ignored that. I received my massage on Tuesday and it's just now recovering from the pain on Saturday. Swedish vs deep tissues doesn't mean shit. I'm a chubby dinosaur, so I know a masseuse would look at me and think they would have to work harder to make an impact. That's just not how it works for me. And unfortunately the masseuse speaks little English so communicating your needs will not be possible. The more English speaking staff are at the front desk and the 1/2 individuals running around. Tips: communicate your needs for massage upfront when you pay so hopefully they are translated clear before you get to your massage. Bring your own towel. Next to the pool, there are 2 spa areas for body scrub and massage. You will probably get the most extensive body scrub experience here, leaving with baby soft skin. The oil massage was a bit rough with the Korean auntie, but you will leave feeling relaxed. There is a snow room upstairs, and multiple hot rooms such as salt and charcoal rooms. There is also a Korean restaurant in the facility which was very convenient. Food was decent, a bit on the pricy side since the portion was small.
