This is a wonderful tour of Savannah's Black history. If you're in the city, DO the tourist thing and take this ride down the Freedom Trail. You won't be disappointed...and you'll learn that 'government is not a person'.

One of our favorite tours, period!! So glad our hotel's concierge knew of it. We learned a great deal and left with better understanding. Johnnie is very knowledgeable and thorough and led us to a variety of museums and locations that we otherwise would not have found ourselves. Tour bus was very comfortable and clean. Highly highly recommend!

Great tour! Really teaches you a lot about Black History. Every now and then the tour guide had a few slip ups (i.e. stating Carrollton, GA is located SW of Atlanta) but overall the history lesson was great and very informative. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Black History and when I return to Savannah, I will definitely go on it again because I would love for those I'm traveling with to get the same great experience that I did! This is the best Black History tour I've taken thus far!

Tour guide spills all the history in Savannah.

The tour was very informational but it was a struggle to hear and understand his narratives.

I like going on Black history tours in American cities to get a local, counter narrative of sanitized history.

Our…read moredriver, Jared, was absolutely wonderful--he has such a great personality and was incredibly engaging throughout the ride. We chose to do the full loop first so we could hear Jared's complete narration before hopping off to explore. It was the perfect decision! He shared fascinating details about Savannah's rich history, along with some lesser-known fun facts that really brought the city to life. The tour sparked our excitement to visit spots we might have overlooked otherwise. The hop-on hop-off format worked brilliantly for us. Buses arrived quickly at each stop--we rarely waited long--and the stops are conveniently located near all the main tourist attractions. It got a bit crowded toward the end of the day (around 5 p.m.), and we occasionally had to wait for the next bus, but overall, it was seamless and stress-free. One small suggestion: I wish the tours ran a little later than 5 p.m. It would be ideal for avoiding parking hassles and enjoying dinner downtown--there are so many delicious restaurants to try! We highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting an easy, informative, and enjoyable way to see Savannah. Thanks to Jared for making it memorable!

A Must Do! This Remarkable Tour is told by Savannah's 2025 "Remarkable Woman of the Year" Patt Gunn…read more(Sistah Patt), CEO of the Underground Tours of Savannah! At the last minute, we scheduled Sistah Patt's Tour, and honestly this is by far the BEST ONE, and we did several here and in Charleston, while visiting from California. Sistah Patt is incredible and inspirational, fact-telling, and is currently in projects in Savannah, bringing proper recognition and truth-telling. I wish I had done a little research on her, as I did after leaving her tour...oh my, I probably would have asked so many more questions, I had no idea of the advocate she is. Let me leave you with this: Who in Savannah can change a Squares name, from Confederate Vice President (Calhoun), to Taylor Square, to honor Susie King Taylor, born into slavery, who became the 1st Black nurse to serve in the Civil War and later open a school for African Americans in Savannah? YES, Patt Gunn Can, and it happened only 2 years ago! This is the Tour you will want to do. This is the "Remarkable Woman" you will want to share/ask/listen to.

You cannot begin to understand the history of Savannah, Georgia, the South or our country without this foundational understanding. This experience will stick with me for years to come.

With that being said, upon researching the area, Dan's tour came up as almost unanimously the best thing to do in Savannah. To say we learnt a lot and had a great time would be an understatement, Dan gave us a broad overview of many elements of Savannah's rich and diverse history. We were visiting from Florida, so we knew it would be hot, but as it was a very shaded route with plenty of stops it was not an issue. As Dan advices on the website, pack water, and sunscreen. The walk itself is very dog friendly and at a leisurely pace suited to all levels of fitness. Finding dog friendly activities is always high on our list, and plus the wealth of knowledge and passion Dan has it was a no brainer! Due to the heat, some other guests had to reschedule their time, so we were lucky enough to have a private tour, which probably would be worth an additional star on its own! Dan as a host was witty, engaging and brought Savannah to life. We have already recommended Savannah Dan to multiple people and will continue to moving forward.
