I had two issues on my property, a septic tank on one house that needed pumping, and some wiring, float switch issues on the older house. Even though neither was an emergency, I had an appointment set up for two days after I called, with both crews scheduled to arrive in the same time window so I didn't have to miss two days from work. Mike got there first to look at the float/wiring issues, and was quick to determine that the issue was beyond his skillset, and called the office to set up a appointment with a higher level technician. To be very clear, his handling of a problem he could not quickly fix is a shows a high level of honesty and integrity that is unfortunately missing in some companies. This situation could have been used to sell all sorts of repairs or parts I didn't need. After Mike left, the pumpers showed up. No issues at all, a quick, clean service and some valuable insight on my system, how it works, and the overall effectiveness and "health" of the tank. These are the guys you want to go with! Our waste line broke right before it connected to the county mainline backing up sewage into our house and causing us to leave the house and find temporary living arrangements. I called Freedom, and they came out and conducted a detailed assessment of the problem and determined that the street would have to be dug up and part of the line replaced. This was an enormous task requiring permits and clearance from both the county and VDOT. VDOT permits can take up to four weeks to secure, but Ricky walked the permits into the office and told the VDOT officer that we were out of the house and in temporary lodging. Because of Ricky's persistence and concern for my family, he was able to secure the VDOT clearance quickly and plan out the work. A job like this requires a great deal of coordination with subcontractors, flagmen, and inspectors. Ricky and his Freedom plumbing team worked through all the complexities without a problem. It was clear that they knew just how to approach the task and bring it to a successful outcome. On the day of the work, the entire Freedom team worked flawlessly to complete the work. There were surprises with the way the pipe was connected to the mainline, but they quickly adapted and worked out how to fix the problem and create a perfect seal between our pipe and the mainline. The road was closed to through traffic and keeping on a tight schedule was essential. Ricky and the team completed the entire task, and backfilled the hole, and put a temporary patch in place well before the deadline set by VDOT. They cleaned up the entire roadway, and it was like they had never been there. Flawless execution, great planning, and outstanding communications throughout the process. I told Ricky I felt that he had our family's best interest at heart during the entire process, and being out of our home, that meant a great deal to my wife and me. I got home yesterday and discovered sh!t all over my utility room floor. I just purchased this home. Moved in two weeks ago. The warranty hasn't kicked in yet so I was worried about the out-of-pocket cost to get this fixed. I called Freedom and Bruce was dispatched. He ran some diagnostic tests of the outlets to rule out an electrical problem then did a few other things before using his machine to clear the line. He then flushed the drain with hot water twice and all was well in my world again. Bruce did great work. He was very professional and explained everything he did and ways to prevent another blockage. He also offered suggestions and opinions throughout the process. He was very relaxed and calm which was reassuring for me. He was mindful of containing the sh!t to that space and nothing was tracked onto the basement floor. He offered to call a team to clean up the mess but I told him I'd take care of it. Thankfully the company gives military discounts so that helped the price a bit. I am very happy with the work and result. If I'm ever in need of a plumber again (hopefully not for this issue) I'll definitely work with the warranty company to have Freedom come out again. read more

Came out fast to do what two other plumbing/septic companies could not do or did not prevent. We continued to have flooding in the downstairs bathroom. David, the salesman discovered our septic problem with his camera and sent some helpers who came out today. Brandon and Nemo were wonderful. They dug up and opened the top of the tank to find the biggest root system they have ever seen (see pics) and then added an access port so we can get to it easier next time. I waited a while to post this review to put Freedom's solution through its paces, but I can say with absolute confidence that this company has saved our basement. Freedom worked with us to resolve a sticky situation with our garage on our older house. The garage leads directly into a nicely finished basement, but is below grade, and the measly drain (pipe too small) in front of the garage just couldn't handle the water from heavy downpours. Freedom did an excellent job installing a channel drain across the length of our garage, integrated the new drain into the old drain, and added a sump pump/sump pit in the garage to pump the water out into our dry creek and out to a storm drain. The solution works flawlessly - it's been drier than last year so far in 2021, but we've gotten some major summer downpours and the sump pump has worked hard to keep our garage and basement dry and clean. Because they integrated the pump with the old gravity drain, the pump only works when it really needs to. They also added a backup battery system to the pump with a low-maintenance sealed marine battery. This was an expensive solution which involved jackhammering and pouring new concrete but they worked with us to offer what we think is a great price - way cheaper than digging up our entire driveway to lay new pipe. I want to apologize for the length of this review but I feel it is completely warranted and I hope you read to the end. I was the victim of a local scam artist that calls himself a plumber. I was having the main stack, main sewer line and a French drain installed, much of which I probably didn't need. The basement of my house was demolished. I spent the day calling numerous plumbers to give me an estimate on repairing the shoddy work and continuing with the work that needed to done. Several plumbers came and walked around for maybe 15-30 minutes each and said they would get back to me with an estimate. I have dealt with so many contractors that don't take the time to find the root of the problem, throw a number at you and then hit you with adhoc work after you've committed to a contract because they didn't do their job right in estimating from the beginning. Then Ricky Salinas from Freedom Plumbers showed up. A friend of a friend referred him to me. I opened the door and was immediately greeted with a big smile and a friendly hello, what a delight. Within a few moments of speaking, my sons said, "mom, this man knows what he's talking about and he is passionate about his work." Ricky took approximately four hours investigating my system. He ran a camera down the main stack in the basement and made several trips outside to mark the location and depth of the pipe. He even took the time to speak with my neighbor, asking if there were problems with the street and old pipe, what had others in the area experienced. He even looked at the plat of her house to determine where my pipe might encounter hers. I learned a lot in those four hours about cast iron, orangeburg and other pipe. Ricky also spotted right away that the previous "plumber" used non-pressure rated pipe below grade and explained whey pipe is rated the way it is and what is above grade and what is below grade. He explained what I was looking at on the sewer camera and when I pointed out the cracked pipe the other "plumber" identified, he let me know it was not a crack but was sludge. In addition, the pipe was not graded properly. At the conclusion, I was not charged but was asked permission to send his snake technician out to finish the inspection because he could not get the camera past a blockage through to the main line. The fee would be $395. I agreed and two days later (first available), Craig came to my house and was equally wonderful and thorough, taking many videos and pictures to communicate with Ricky. Craig also spent at least four hours if not more, getting to the main line with the snake and camera and confirming Ricky's suspicions. Now that Ricky was armed with the necessary information, he could present me with two different options. He went over in detail the pros and cons of each system. In the end, I went with a pressurized pump system because it best suited my situation. My house sits below street level and has very little to no grade. Ricky answered all of my questions and concerns with detail. I think I had a question for every line item on the contract and he was actually excited that I had read the contract and had so many questions because it gave him the opportunity to educate. Once I selected the options I wanted, it was time to get the Town of Front Royal on board with the plan, in which Ricky navigated beautifully. He met with the town on several occasions to explain the project and had prepared drawings and information. Everything was permitted and to code and OSHA safety followed. When work did start, Freedom Plumbers wasted no time! I was impressed with how efficiently they worked. I received pictures and a detailed end of day report each day. Every morning, I received a text or phone call from the office letting me know the crew was on the way to my house. They cleaned up and left the porches cleaner than they found them. I would like to shout out to Alex who did the electrical panel, which my house needed, replaced to support the new pump system. I could write a novel but this is already too long. The only thing I can say is that Freedom Plumbers is worth every penny. They will be my only plumbers from now on and the only ones I will recommend. If you are looking for the cheapest, they probably are not it. But if you are looking for a company that honors their word, does a thorough investigation with full transparency prior to jumping in, keeps you informed, passionate about their trade, does quality work and uses quality materials and from my experience with past plumbers, hands down the most skilled and knowledgeable; true masters of their trade then give these guys a call! I have never really needed a plumber before and didn't know where to start. We had an intermittent foul odor from our sink that I was fed up with so I reached out to Freedom Plumbers vía their Yelp consultation request. It was a Sunday and a non-emergency, so I got a response back early Monday to give them a call. I explained my issue and they put me on the schedule to come out the next day. Cool cool. Joe arrived after the courtesy call I received stating he was on his way. He respectfully stood back from the door, mask and shoe covers in hand, we each said our greetings and then donned PPE so he could enter. After my husband and I explained the problem we ran into the issue of, "Can't reproduce the problem while the person that could fix it is there." Joe did his very best to get the problem to surface, but in the end we had to shrug and chuckle at the lack of anything to fix. He gave recommendations for how to clean out the disposal that we could do ourselves. I wrote a check for the dispatch fee (very reasonable) and Joe told us to call him again if the problem resurfaces. Great experience for what it's worth. Excellent, excellent work! They replaced my water main/service in 1 day and had the holes filled in and concrete poured the next day. While I initially thought the price was high, it was a stellar job well worth the money, done by a group of conscientious folks that were great to deal with. Everyone I worked with was very professional and courteous and always kept me up to date about how the project was progressing: Jose, Nemo, Josue, Douglas, Luis, TJ & Joe. After each day of work, they cleaned up after themselves so well that you'd almost never have known they were there. The trenchless pipe install method worked really well and quickly. I was able to stay in the house during the whole project because they made sure I had running water for as long as possible until they had to cut it off for the pipe replacement and hookup. Knowing I had a -20- year warranty on their work and on the pipe itself left me feeling better that I would be in good hands if anything were to occur in the future. *The only reason I knocked off 0.5 stars from the review was the scheduling process. I got my estimate pretty quickly but I had to call multiple times to get the job scheduled. More communication would've been better. Also, nearly every email I received was automated with a "From" address that had a no-reply email (but it did allow replying, which automatically went to a different address). Before accepting the estimate, I did even more extensive research than the first time I used the company. I verified that all licenses were up to date at every agency they supplied numbers for. I read every single review I could find on every site, including the Better Business Bureau (no complaints found!). I researched the history of the company and its owner Ricky Salinas. In the end, I felt confident that I had made the right choice in choosing Freedom Plumbers for this extensive project. Day 1: TJ and his assistant removed the old water heater (I took that opportunity to replace my 20 year old model) and capped off the pipes so I could still have running water. Jose and Nemo arrived to do the water main replacement work. There was a misunderstanding with my estimate, which was made for PVC, but I actually needed a copper line because the house electrical was grounded on the pipe. Ricky approved the use of copper while honoring the original estimate price. Jose knew I would need photo evidence to provide to the water company to get them to adjust my bill after the repair, so he would always contact me when it was a good opportunity to capture various stages of the project. Day 2: Douglas and Josue arrived to fill in the holes from the boring machine and help with the concrete replacement inside and out. Working with the man who did the concrete (sorry I did not get his name), they did a beautiful job on the new sidewalk section replacement, as well as filling in the hole in my concrete slab. It was perfectly level and ready the next day for the installation of my new water heater. Joe arrived in the afternoon to check a shower that had low water pressure. He was able to narrow the cause of the issue and we made a plan for the next day to do the work, which would involve cutting into the drywall on the other side of the wall from the shower assembly. Day 3: They returned to remove the protective lumber and tarp while the concrete dried overnight. They even put down some mulch and grass seed around the disturbed sections of lawn near the water meter! My new water heater was installed by TJ and his assistant. I had warm water when they left and hot water not long after. Joe returned to finish the work on my shower. He had to cut a hole in the drywall on the other side of the wall, but he cut as little as possible to do his work and recommended I install an access panel instead of all new drywall (which I did about 2 weeks later). I had picked out a nice upgraded shower head and matching faucet handle the night before and he installed all the new parts, including a water diverter that required some work on the copper and PVC pipes. I hate to write bad reviews but these guys just wasted two of my days in a row. Set up an appointment for a 12-4 window yesterday to replace a shower valve. They call me after 3pm to say no one is coming, ask if I can change it to 12-4 today, I say sure. I sit around today, waiting, they call after 2, this time the guy is working on a water heater at another site and ask if I can move it to MONDAY. I tell her, nope, cancel it, you guys wasted two days in a row. You'd think if a vendor messed up one day they would put me at the first call the next time slot, but they don't care. Worse, to move me to 4 days later after that is a joke. There are TONS of plumbers on Yelp and I feel back now that I didn't give all these others a chance at my business because clearly they are hungrier than this company. Would give 10 stars if I could. After three plumbers from another service came to check out my not-draining bathtub, I was ready to replace the pipes. I scheduled this with the other company. They simply *didn't* show up on the day service was schedule. So I called Freedom Plumbers. They sent two plumbers out the next day. They arrived within the service window, and said they really didn't think the pipes needed to be replaced. They sent a third (same day) who did manage to snake the drain clear. We are talking a $300 service versus $2,000 service. I would have paid the money, had it been necessary, but am very pleased it wasn't necessary and that Freedom Plumbers arrived when they said they would and managed to solve the problem in an efficient manner. They were way too pricey for an easy job. I asked them for a discount because it was a 15 minute job and they agreed to reducing their price. They were reasonable about it and the plumber was very knowledgeable and very polite and professional. I just worry it's going to be very expensive to call them for another job in the future. They are honest however, and that is also worth a lot in my book. I asked the plumber about replacing the anode rod and other things about my water heater, and he said there was no need, that my water heater was in good shape. I also had a question about my sump pump and he also said it was fine. I can tell you that two other plumbing companies have both recommended the anode rod replacement as preventative maintenance and also replacing the sump pump, and I know that isn't necessary. Will have to continue looking for a reasonably priced plumber... but if I need an honest, responsive company that does excellent work, I won't hesitate to call Freedom plumbers again! TLDR: Pros: Friendly, fair pricing, workers were considerate of my space and time, fixed all issues eventually. Cons: Very difficult to reach by phone, pulled the wrong permit, large delays between visits, failed first inspection. I would use them again, albiet with a bit of hesitation. Now for my detailed experience. I used Freedom Plumbers to install a utility sink, a hot water heater, and to run new drains. On the bright side, they we always very friendly, didn't overcharge, didn't try to change pricing last minute, kept my place reasonably clean, and all the plumbing seems to work. They also worked well on site, were conscious of not using too much space, and getting everything done and workers out in a timely manner. On the other hand, it took Freedom Plumbers, from the date I signed the estimate to begin work, to the day the work was completed, a total of 85 days. Of those 85 days, I contributed about two weeks of delays (well, my landlord did at least), due to a bad WSSC number. The work itself took less than a week, the workers themselves had a good work ethic. Most of the delays were administrative, particularly with permitting. So what exactly caused the delays? Mostly difficulty in communication, and an incorrect permit. Every time communication was needed, I would attempt to reach Freedom Plumbers by phone. Calls would often go to a third party receptionist, who would almost never pass along my message to Freedom Plumbers. Everyone within Freedom Plumbers itself was very helpful, but reaching them was often more difficult than it should have been, making a phone call felt like rolling a slot machine and hoping for three 7s, because if someone outside of the Freedom Plumbers team picked up the phone, my needs would usually not be met. I had to simply keep calling every day until someone from the company picked up, and not a third party, meaning it would take up to a week to make almost any communication that needed to be made. This caused most of the delays, a few days at a time, throughout the experience, and is the main source of any frustration I have. The second delay occurred after my floor was torn up for installation, it turned out they pulled the wrong permit, meaning I had to wait for the permitting process a second time, only this time with a gaping hole in my floor that remained for over a month. Getting the permit the first time was difficult enough, and I had to make several trips to the WSSC to connect them to the plumbers so that they could sort out the permitting, which I really should not have been a part of to begin with. The second permit took just as long, if not longer, thanks largely to my landlord being unresponsive, but also because of the aforementioned delays in communication, multiplied by the volume of communication needed to acquire the permit. At the same time, although this caused to additional delay because it overlapped with the permitting problem, the first inspection failed, and Freedom Plumbers had to make adjustments to the piping. This was much less of a hassle than it seems like it would be, but still worth mentioning. At the end of the day, I would use them again, because the work got done, my wallet is intact, and nothing disastrous happened. There is a shortage of good plumbers, and most plumbers seem extremely busy, so I don't lay too much fault on Freedom Plumbers. Simply put, although they have their problems, I still think using them is better than risking another company. read more

Freedom did a great job on the plumbing part of the repair of our main-line and it was a difficult job. However, they did not completely replace the ground cover or mulch around the area of my bushes that had to be removed. My wife and i both separately spoke to their representatives when we noticed this issue and requested they return and resolve the issue. It would have been easy for the grounds crew to put down the dirt and mulch. This never happened and resulted in 3 of our bushes dying and the cost to replace and re-landscape appears to be significant. read more

I called Freedom after another plumber made an appointment and then failed to show-up (this seems to be an absolutely endemic problem amongst service people and contractors in my area - I guess they don't rely on repeat business). Freedom was able to come on short notice. The plumber they sent was very honest with me - he admitted that while he could snake the drain for several hundreds of dollars, it would probably not do much to fix the problem, even in the short term. My appointment was between 2-4pm to fix a leak in the basement. They called at 3:30pm to say they couldn't come out. I took the afternoon off and they expect me to take another afternoon off because they don't know how to manage their time better. This is not the first time they've handled their schedule poorly. They booked with me in the morning around 8am for a 10-2pm slot. Waited until 1:50pm to tell me the plumber wouldn't be coming at all. So I went with another company. Poor customer service tactics. They tried to reschedule for Monday/Tuesday of the Labor Day weekend. Being that we couldn't wait to shower/brush teeth or wash dishes from Friday until Monday as a pregnant woman. We used Freedom Plumbers on a stuck shower faucet. CJ was our plumber. He was very professional and personable. He assessed the problem and gave us options on how to fix. He explained what needed to be done and how. He seemed very skilled and knowledgeable. He did not waste time and he worked very efficiently. It could have been a small fix or a big fix. Luckily, it turned out to be a small fix. He was able to replace the shower cartridge faucet which fixed the problem. The only negative was that CJ showed up at the end of the appointment window and we didn't know when he was going to show up. But we were glad he did. He did have to come back to fix the faucet but we also had to arrange to have the water shut off. I came across Freedom Plumbers through Angie's List. I had a broken faucet but nothing urgent. They contacted me immediately and we scheduled an appointment within a 10 AM - 2 PM timeframe for a couple days later. The day of the appointment I hadn't heard from them so called at 1:15. The very nice women who answered the phone said that the plumber was finishing a job in Centreville and would be calling me soon. Still no word so called back at 4:00. The women said that the plumber was now finishing a job in Springfield and would be coming to me next. At 5:00 still no word, so canceled the request. Called in the morning, they dispatched TJ within a few hours to correctly diagnose and resolve my kitchen faucet issue. TJ is an absolute professional and skilled plumber. No pressure trying to sell me a product; I felt TJ was honest and could be confident in his recommendation and fix. TJ wore all the protective gear (shoe covering, mask, gloves), was respectful of my home, and cleaned up the area after he was done. Ricky and his team saved us! Discovered a break in a pipe pushing sewage into the kitchen right before quarantining hit. I approved the work because I obviously didn't know I was being taken advantage until I spoke with other people. The people I talked to weren't suggesting anything cheap. No way this company has a pump that much better than everyone else that cost that much more. Don't be fooled by this company and their response. I haven't received the call they mentioned in their response. I rarely do reviews so the fact that i had to do one on this company speaks volumes. read more

Called early this AM at about 6:30 because I overwhelmed my garbage disposal by throwing some chicken down in ( bonehead move. Don't be like me!) Beth called me back in less than 10 minutes to schedule an appt for between 10am-2pm. Tech arrived at just about 10am. Gave me an estimate of $390 to unclog the drain. He saw my shock and said it wouldn't take too long and he would be able to reduce it to $300. I was also able to donate some canned food to their food drive for an additional $25 off ( saw this on their yelp page and asked )My sink drain was clogged to the point it had to be taken off and emptied out. Tech was done in about 35minutes. Overall very fast response and great service. A little pricey compared to other plumbers but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. read more
