BAM Construction - Amazing shower that has been updated.

BAM Construction

Unfortunately, our experience with BAM Construction was extremely disappointing, and based on our…read moreexperience, we cannot recommend them. The biggest issue was communication and scheduling. Sherry repeatedly failed to properly read our messages and did not effectively communicate with us or the contractor about scheduling or what work needed to be done. In the middle of the project, we went several days without hearing anything, leaving us with an unusable kitchen and no clear timeline for completion or even confirmation that anyone was coming back. It took multiple messages, including demanding either a refund or completion that week, before we finally received a response. When they did return, we received only about 15 minutes' notice. What should have been a simple 3-4 day countertop and backsplash project turned into a two-week project, with much of that time spent with no one working and us unsure whether or when the project would be completed. We also caught the contractor providing inaccurate information on multiple occasions, which damaged our trust. More than $600 worth of materials we personally purchased were disposed of without our permission, and we had to track them down and attempt to recover them. After losing confidence in the contractor, we requested someone else be assigned. We then went two days without a response. The owner, Adam, repeatedly said he would call at specific times, but those calls did not happen. When we called, we were told to text instead and often received little or no response. Even after completion, cabinet doors the crew had removed were left off, and we had to ask them to reinstall them and put the dishwasher back. The crew also damaged our garbage disposal, requiring us to have an electrician come out and repair it. Our old countertops were also left in our dumpster, resulting in neighbor complaints and involvement from City of Lubbock Code Enforcement regarding proper disposal of the demolition materials. Overall, this project was far more stressful than it should have been due to poor communication, scheduling issues, repeated delays, inaccurate information, unauthorized disposal of our materials, incomplete work, and difficulty getting anyone to respond. For a straightforward kitchen remodel, we expected much better professionalism, communication, honesty, and follow-through. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend BAM Construction based on our experience.

When they messed up that appointment too, I'd had enough. Fool me once... It's no wonder they have the cheapest prices, you can't rely on them to get the work done on time or correctly. Here's an honest review of my experience. Brad and his previous store manager Kara are pleasant people. Unfortunately, Brad's harebrained nature and seeming extraordinarily busy schedule makes it difficult to actually speak with him. That's a real shame since the sub-contractors they hire are sub-par. The project had to be rescheduled multiple times. Many promised dates were given and not met. When they finally came to install my counters there was confusion on what pieces they would need, so Brad left to get more granite. When he left some of the workers' tools were still in the truck, so they asked to borrow mine. They did not know how to properly use the tools so one of my bits got damaged. He didn't know to use a P2, not a smaller P1, bit for standard screws. The screws were also mine. He was not interested in my recommendation of drilling pilot holes, despite repeatedly splitting the plywood at the corners and the thin piece in front of the sink basin. Speaking of plywood, when Brad got to my place he asked if we were "doing plywood". This was after the invoice was generated and I had already payed half. I don't know, sir, shouldn't you? After the install was done and the workers were gone I wiped the counter for the first time which absorbed the water from a damp rag, showing that it was not sealed. They did right by me and Kara came out to seal the counter, and left the can of sealant so I may reapply it as needed. Later, I went to flatten some chicken and noticed the counter was vibrating badly at one corner. They determined the counter was not adhered correctly, and came out to repair it on their bill. Lucky me. That was April. Now, 5 months later it was time to replace my 33" fridge with a proper 36" one, which I remodeled the kitchen for prior to the counter installation. I brought in the fridge only to find the counter was installed arbitrarily about 1.5 inches over the edge of the cabinet, making the 36" wide gap for the fridge only 34.5 inches wide. My new fridge won't fit. I called to ask for them to fix their mistake but Maggie, who is also seemingly reasonable and kind, told me they form the counter to the fridge that is currently installed. This is totally ridiculous. The fridge was loosely sitting in the gap with 3 inches of slop. What if it was a mini-fridge? What if there was no fridge? They would have done it properly, that's what. I never got to speak to Brad about the issue. In fact, I don't think anyone ever did. He seems a reasonable enough dude that he'd go "Holy hell what did we do? We've never made that mistake and I've installed 1,000 kitchens." No dice. They quoted me $100 to fix it. I figured I'd give them a second chance to wipe the slate clean, and full disclosure it was by far the cheapest price on the market. I payed over the phone. On the same call Maggie told me they'd be out Wednesday. Wednesday came and they did not; I called and saw that the invoice said 10/08, a Thursday. A slip of the tongue. Hell, maybe I misheard. A simple mistake. Thursday rolls around and I took off work because they're supposed to call me when they're on their way. They never call. They never show. I call at 5pm and Maggie tells me "if they have not come yet they're probably not coming Thursday" and to call her Friday morning if they don't show in the evening. I did not get a chance to rebuttal. On Friday I called and they did not answer so I went to the store which was closed despite their hours. When they called me they said they would try to find someone for me. Two hours passed so I went to the store in person. Maggie was pleasant to speak to and told me she'd tried and that their crews called in sick and that nobody wants to work. She told me that she'd try and see if she could get anyone at all. She called about 30 minutes later saying she had someone for 11am Saturday. By the time she called I found another provider and who knows if Granite King would actually make it out. They didn't many other occasions. I asked for a refund and she said she'd be happy to give me a cash refund when she gets the money back from the subcontractors.I don't recommend getting work done from Granite King. 2 stars - at least they're nice.

Our kitchen remodel, in parts, has been a disaster. I can say with 100% certainty and without…read morehesitation that you should NEVER use Allied Stone In short, they measured our walls incorrectly and blamed us when the cabinets had to be torn out because they were the wrong size. We are still waiting on a refund for that. They measured our fridge incorrectly, thus making upper and lower cabinets not fit correctly. They also blamed us for this. We are still waiting for a refund on that. We asked for our island to be the same size it is now, and rather got one that is many inches bigger, which doesn't work in our space. They blamed us and as you can guess, we are still waiting on a refund for the correct size as we paid over. The designer assigned to us assumed the size of our fridge, the way our cabinets should open in respect to other cabinets in the kitchen and the size of our microwave. Because of this, we had to pay for their mistakes, while being blamed for them. Our general contractor, Garrett and the owner of Allied Stone all met in the house while the designer was there, and Allied Stone was told multiple times, over and over, specifics needed for our kitchen before the project started. We finally had to buy a cabinet from someone in Oklahoma who could fit it in our space, while our contractor had to adjust what was the original blueprint. Allied Stone has yet to refund us for that cabinet, yet said because of that, we changed the entire design of the kitchen. However, the designer didn't do her job. We are waiting on molding to finish off over half of the kitchen. We were told demo would start December 9th. So our kitchen has been boxed up since December 8th. It is still unfinished as we wait on Allied Stone to provide what we have already paid for. Our 3 week remodel has now lasted over 2.5 months, still with no resolution in sight. We have made many attempts to contact them in person, phone and email. We do get some communication but never a resolution. Our contractor has also spoken back and forth with them on our behalf and he gets no resolution either. What I can say, is that in the middle of this disaster, we called Scott Adams with Crown Stone. He was at our house within hours, measured, ordered our counter tops and within a week of the first phone call to him, has our counter tops installed. We will be redoing bathrooms as soon as the kitchen is complete and there is one company we will not be calling. We expected bumps in the road. We did not expect to be working with a company who was ok in treating customers this way.
