I purchased a jacket in store and washed the jacket in accordance to the instructions on the jacket. The black dye of the jacket stained the cream collar a splotchy gray/blue. I contacted Free People customer support and was told there was nothing they could do because I purchased the jacket in store. I am an avid shopper and have a trove of online orders attached to my account. Very disappointing to know that if you shop in store with them, there is virtually no online support. And the saddest part is I loved the jacket and now cant wear it. RIP to my favorite jacket. read more

They have the kindest staff here! They're perfectly attentive without being too overbearing. Everytime I go they greet me and give good advice on styling certain pieces. I even called today to describe a perfume i tried on and they were able to tell me which it was! read more

I stopped in today to make a return. Something I purchased online didn't work out for me. Tracey was kind, suggested alternative items, and even searched for a particular size for me on a couple pieces that caught my eye in store. I felt no pressure to purchase items and no judgment in returning my item. In fact, I've generally had this experience every time visiting this store. AVOID. Inventory is low and size options are limited. Someone yelled " Hello!" from the counter and proceeded to chat with not 1 but 2 other sales people at the counter for the entirety of my visit. Tsk Tsk store associates and managers who hired them . Laziness and sloppy inventory does not look good on you. read more

Shes a rockstar that helped me (continue) to fall in love with the most gorgeous pair of jeans at the Portland, Oregon location and I have finally ordered them yay! Not a big fan of this location. I love the store itself, but the customer service could be better. I placed a pickup order, so when I walked in, I headed to the counter where two girls were working. They didn't greet me or acknowledge me until I said hello. One girl was super sweet, but the other looked me up and down and was extremely rude. My pickup order ended up being canceled by the company without an explanation, even though the item I ordered was in stock. Instead of simply canceling and recreating the order, they asked if I wanted to pay out of pocket and wait for my money to be refunded to my card. I decided to leave and canceled my order as soon as I left on my own, and my refund was processed automatically. I was disappointed because it could have been a simple fix, and I went out of my way to visit this location even though it's not the closest. Safe to say, I won't be coming back. read more

Free People always has a collection of clothing that is so unique and aligned to their brand. Boho casual that Spans their casual pieces, athleisure, elegant dressier clothing, loungewear, jeans and accessories. Flowing maxi dresses in florals and calico prints? Yep, every season. Loose, comfy sweaters, boxy crop tops, wide and super wide jeans - the newest 2021 flashback style - they have it. Even pants and sweaters with bell sleeves reminiscent of the early 70s. And while most of their clothing does have a vintage vibe, their styles are simultaneously modern. This is exactly what they do so well. Truth be told, with many of the wardrobe pieces that I love and I'm drawn to, I have to do a catch and release. I'm way older than the intended demographic and what is that sage advice? If you wore it the first time around, you are too old to wear it the 2nd time around. True, that! No worries, as there are many pieces that span all ages and I always manage to find something that I must have. My only issue is the prices are so high! How do all of these young-ins afford the armfuls of clothing they pile on the counter? Me? I buy one piece at a time, and it has to be something I absolutely love. The store itself is absolutely beautiful with lovely decor and the clothing styled so nicely. It makes shopping here such a wonderful experience. While the consistent theme from other Yelp reviews has been rude customer service, I haven't experienced that. Could be because I don't want help or assistance, preferring to browse on my own, so I don't care if someone greets me or offers to help me find something. I actually find the forced greeting to feel like a shark attack. It's like they are waiting for someone to walk in so they can "pounce" and it is always a turnoff for me. When I get the "hello can I help you find something?" I immediately say, "hi, I'm just here to browse" and turn away. read more

Not carrying sizes above a large even when you manufacture them is an obvious and intentional statement. That statement being, yeah, we'll take your money, fatty. Just so long as we don't have to look at you. Really bummed out, was planning to buy an outfit for my sister's wedding here. What a truly incredible business decision. If only I had so much cash and places to go-to , I would actually just live here . Love this store and the location as well as the collection. This used to be my favorite stores to frequent pre-covid however now with shopping exclusively online ,I still like coming here sometimes to see and try new things before actually ordering them online and also because it just makes me a happy girl. The vibe is very boho meets modern and the display is unusual and very appealing . I love how they layer certain outfits in ways you would never think to try yourself . Lots of accessories and athleisure too but what mostly brings me here are the dresses and tops . So much color and vibrancy and I love that when they have a new trend they actually have a lot of options for different styles and colors etc . The staff is mostly friendly and sweet and leave you alone once they have offered help . I have never had any bad customer service here . So you would ask that since everything is so good why four stars and not five ? The answer being price .Even though its a fabulous store with most stuff I love , I still feel quite a lot of the things are overpriced. I don`t mind spending for a good dress or a nice jacket but $$$ for a basic top or tee is not something I can justify . read more

I have been buying Free People clothing for years. I thought the first time I received used clothing, it was a fluke. Just ordered a $150.00 pair of pants and got another used pair in the mail. They have clearly been worn and washed, with one of the tags cut from inside the pants. Be careful if you are ordering online, as this seems to be a regular practice of theirs.... read more

Big store | Great location $$$ This is seriously an excellent store. I went a couple days ago for their Labor Day sale (additional 30% on their sale items) and also went to their other location in Tigard. This store is huge! compared to the one in Tigard. The one in Tigard is incredibly small. This store is two stories and their sale section is nice. Great location, too. Next door is Anthropologie and across from that is Madewell. If you're looking for something healthy to eat quickly, either go to Whole Foods nearby or Kure for an energy bowl/smoothie. Parking is on the street. We went during the Farmer's Market happening on the Portland State University campus, so we walked from the campus to the store. Took us about 17 minutes. read more

I visited the store on a trip to a Portland at the end of 2019. The selection was great and I was happy to find something I had wanted to order online but was not sure how it would fit. I used my credit card and was surprised when it did not go through, so I paid cash. Evidently the machine was set up for debit cards, but the clerk didn't make this clear. Then, when I was leaving the store, the alarm went off because she had neglected to take off the sensor. Basically I was treated like a thief. read more

Walked in and there were no employees in sight. I needed to make a return so I wandered around looking at items waiting for someone to appear. Finally a girl with brown hair comes out and rudely asks me "can I help you? I didn't realize you were in here" Got the feeling she thought I was stealing or something and that it was my fault she didn't know I was there. I do wish that the store had more of the items that are available online. Still, in desperate need of something 100% cotton to wear to an important event, I ventured into the downtown PDX location. Do not order on line. I did, months ago, and within a day got a notice that my item shipped. I click on the shipping info and there was a message that I will be notified when there is shipping info available. Hmmm, months later, no update, no cancellation, no information at all. read more

I love their staff and the store is fun. They greet me all the time and are very nice. But now that I've read some of the reviews I wonder why I get so much attention..... maybe it's because I am black and it's not because they got a bunch of "sisters" up in there because they don't. This is the most beautiful Free People I've ever been in! Right when you open the doors, you're greeted with gorgeous clothing and accessories that continues all the way to the back of the store. The employees are helpful and always start a fitting room for me when my hands are full. They put extra things, like their Intimates bras, in the fitting room just in case I need it to try things on. They were very helpful with retrieving shoe sizes for me as well. One thing I really admire about this place is that the employees don't make me feel bad for not spending a lot of money. With nicer stores this happens a lot. But here I feel free to try on beautiful things, see how they feel, and only take home exactly what I want. It's a great shopping experience! read more
