Had 2 extended warranty products. A GE gas oven and a Kitchenaid dishwasher. The oven needed an igniter and the technician, if one would call him that, did not use the correct ceramlc connector and stripped the flameproof insulator too far back. LAZY! The dishwasher needed a water pump and control board. He said. The motor had a piece of glass in the impeller and while removing the front dishwasher cover he stripped 3 of the 9 inserts for the screws. Did not find this out until I had to find a small leak on the floor my wife complained about. Again my thoughts LAZY. Stay away if you can! Unfortunetly, if you invest in an extended warranty, you will have to watch them, or record, like a hawk. Too bad that TWO employees ended up non impressive. I might understand one, but two, Must be BAD leadership or atmosphere. read more

The crew showed up on time. They were professional as well as knowledgeable. they moved my old refrigerator downstairs ( about 20 steps no less), and installed my new refrigerator all within about an hour. It was obvious they knew what they were doing. I can highly recommend Fred's. read more

Our experience started off well with a smooth order process, good pricing, and timely scheduling for delivery. However, the delivery/install itself and the lack of care for our issues afterward have left us extremely disappointed. The washer and dryer were installed so poorly that I had to reinstall them myself to prevent a potential fire hazard from their shortcuts with the venting. I also discovered that they reused our existing hot and cold water lines, even though we paid for new ones, and we never received a refund for this. Additionally, the installer only partially removed stickers, leaving sticky residue and half-torn labels behind. Due to poor Install the dryer was unusable as it wasn't invented properly with bend in the lines. we have made multiple phone calls to get these issues corrected for refunded with no solution found. They continued to point fingers at different departments and I actually spoke with the individuals multiple times as they kept transferring me back-and-forth in a blame game. They even left some trash behind the unit that they don't care to clean up when they had the old units removed. Sorry Fred's, you had multiple opportunities to resolve these before I left a review and chose to do nothing. read more

Let me start out with a positive....Derek, the delivery person and installer was polite, professional, and overall great! Everything else was a disaster. They messed up our delivery details, then scheduled us for pick-up instead of delivery, failed to schedule the third-party appliance installer, and then delivered damaged appliances. Took almost three months to finally receive the replacement for the damaged refrigerator door. (The first time they scheduled the replacement door install, that one was damaged too!) I would forgive all of that if they pretended to care. It was always a lot of finger-pointing and no returned calls when I asked them to make things right. In the off chance that I was able to track someone down, they just kept referring me to a call center in Washington. My advice is to steer clear of Fred's Appliance in Billings and avoid a lot of frustration and wasted time. read more

Bought washer and dryer and extended warranty, worked great for 3 yrs than one day the start buttons on both wouldn't work, very strange they both quit working at the same time. So I called they said someone else would call me back, so they called and told me they needed model numbers so they could get the right parts, then they said it would be a month to get appointment, I complained that it was so long, they said techs were really busy and they needed time to order the parts. So they show up and ask what the problem is, weird they should know, so I tell them and said okay we'll order the parts. I almost blew a gasket, now they say they don't know how long it will be. We went to Fred's about a year ago now to buy new appliances for our house. We were sold on a GE product line and told we would receive $1,500.00 in rebates if all the appliances were GE. My wife preferred some GE but wanted the LG washer and dryer, but were convinced differently. We have received zero dollars in rebates to date! The Fred's rebate we were told a gift card was mailed out, but when we asked for tracking, they said they didn't do that. The GE rebate we also fought with for 6 months about incorrect serial numbers and part numbers and never received a dime. So if going to Fred's and being sold on rebates, don't depend on them. We received zero support from Fred's on pursing these rebates. read more

Fred's Appliance (Billings Montana location) doesn't even deserve one star. I would recommend to EVERYBODY not to do business with Fred's appliance. We bought the warranty when we bought our washer and dryer and our washer started having problems, long story short it's been a year and our washer still leaks. We're still dealing with this, we are tired of being on the waiting list and making sure someone's home from work for their techs to not show up or when they do show up they mess with it and make the problem worse. I will admit they have one good tech but you don't always get the same tech. It's taken them six try's and at-least two no shows in one year and the problem is not fixed. My wife and I have called and gone into the store several times to talk to the store manager whose name is Montana and he is never to be found or return any of our calls. I asked the supervisor for the corporate number and he wouldn't give it to me. Definitely shop around as you can save money and the headache of dealing with Freds appliance. read more

We have purchased a few appliances from Freds and always been satisfied with them, until now. I had to wait 2 weeks just to get someone to come and look at the refrigerator. Then they don't have parts they have to order them. Okay then 3 weeks for the parts and wanted me to wait 2 more weeks for them to come an fix it! So, I haven't had a refrigerator for 5 weeks, and they expect me to be happy when they don't fix it for 2 more weeks. I bought the extended warranty. I'm beginning to think they just want you to buy a new one. They at first said they would be here Monday (today is Friday) . Then they tell me I have to wait to more weeks WITH OUT A Refrigerator. Excellent service in the store during the purchase process. Unfortunately, that's where the 'excellence' ended. Paid for refrigerator delivery, installation and haul away of old refrigerator. The new refrigerator was delivered and hooked up, including the ice maker. A day after the installation it was discovered that the water line to the ice maker was not properly installed resulting in a leak that subsequently leaked through the floor, causing ceiling damage on the floor below. When that discovery was made, the water line was properly tightened and the leak stopped. Fred's sent two employees out to take pictures of the damage. As it was obviously damage caused by the installers (Fred's employees). I was certain they would rectify the situation by making the appropriate repairs or paying to have it done. No such luck. After much back and forth I was finally told by Fred's that Montana is a No Fault State (which is not true and was a total lie by their employee) therefore they were not responsible for the damage caused by their employees. Me, my family and many friends have purchased products from Fred's ever since they opened in the belief that shopping local was the right thing to do rather than going through the Big Box stores. I now know that's fine so long as there are not and product and/or installation problems. A Big Box store would have immediately rectified the problem. Lesson learned. I do NOT recommend Fred's for any appliance purchases. We bought a Beko stove, and they told us they service our area so there would be no issues servicing our appliance. Well that is not the case the oven cooks on one side but not the other so you have to rotate your food. I gave tried to get them out since January. Now they are saying that is how these ovens work so if I don't like it I should return it and pick another brand. Terrible customer service and they do not honor the warranty. read more

My wife and I have bought from Fred's Appliance for years with no complaints, until recently. After building our home and having our appliances delivered our dishwasher had a dent in the front panel, the cook stove had scratches on the top front and the wash machine had a hole in the drain hose which they fixed the hose. We came into the Billings store to get our Dryer.. I called and talked to a sales rep.. he sent me an add... and we decided to get the dryer.. when we get to the store.. to pay for the dryer it was more.. and I said why is it more.. on the add it said .. $549. she says.. oh the Sales Rep added the hose and electrical attachment.. and we said we wouldn't need that .. so she took it off and said that will be $550. I paid it.. she had no explenation for the $1 dollar difference. so when I got home I called the office talked to the Store Rep that sent me the ADD.. and I said.. I know it's only $1 dollar but there should have been a conversation about the difference.. I told him I would of been happy to Pay it.. and NOT cared at all.. its a dollar... and I said.. I don't know how embezzlement works.. but if you add a dollar to everything you sell.. thats a pretty good check.. you get paid by commission. .. some time went by when this Rep.. then says ... I will tell you now I'm the one who wrote up the slip and made it $550. and that the money went straight to Freds Appliance.. I said .. why then did you not have a conversation about it.. I want that dollar returned.. he said .. Ok, a week went by.. and I wrote him another email.. and he said.. I'm so sorry but we don't send cash in the mail.. I'll have it here when your in town to pick it up.. so I said.. okay.. Turns out I came to Billings.. a few days Later.. and thought I'm going to stop and get that cash.. so I stopped about 4:30 in the evening and the REP i had been emailing and had this issue with was gone.. so I said to one of the other reps.. I came in to pick up a dollar.. and he's. Like $1.. yep.. $1 dollar I said.. so I told him what happened and why I came in for just a dollar.. BUT it's the PRINCIPAL, this guy charged more money then The advertise add from the day previous.. Well I get $1 dollar walk out and feeling kinda of stupid.. i thought to myself.. I'm going back in.. so I did, and said I feel really stupid.. I'm sorry.. and the Rep said .. HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT buying from Freds,,, I will never ever buy another appliance from them... We bought their extended service plan only had our washer about 2 years and had issue,, called them it was over a month before someone could come out and look at it.. My husband told them he researched it and he feels it is a computer board,,,. the technician comes out nope it's just throwing error codes to make it do what it's doing! Well here we are a little over a month later and it's doing the same thing again,, call the service department and well another month before they can come out again because they only have 1 technician for all of their calls and since we live out of town they only come out this way once a week... it's absolutely ridiculous and the lady who answers the phone is the service department to schedule the appointments isn't very friendly or empathetic at all... read more

This is the worst appliance store I have ever shopped at. They are only interested in sales and once that is accomplished, there is absolutely no customer service. They lost the appliance order for my new construction, delivered the wrong appliances and delayed getting one of them for weeks. When that one had a functioning problem, they gave half-hearted interest and passed it on to the appliance manufacturer. Customer service is absolutely non-existent as evidenced by the weekend when there is no manager available for problem solutions, no deliveries and no appliance maintenance......but they have a full staff of sales people!!!!! read more

Moved into our new home April 15 and we only used the microwave we bought from Fred's less than a week when it went south on us. We called Fred's for a warranty service and it took about a week for the tech to come to our house. The tech made some tests on the microwave and said the "mother board" was bad, he further stated that he is running into this a lot with the model we got from Fred's. Tech they will order the part and it will take approximately three weeks for it to come. We got a call yesterday from Fred's warranty service and they said they have the parts but they have no one available for service until first week in June. This is the type of shit that pisses me off. One pays good money for an appliance and we get told they have their own techs so if something goes wrong we "don't have to wait" unlike buying from other stores etc. well i can tell you that is BULL SHIT! Onto another issue with an appliance we bought from Fred's. Our range hood (which was recently installed also) started making a high pitched sound like a fan bearing going out etc. I called this into Fred's last week and was told someone would contact me this week. Well when i spoke to someone at Fred's warranty service about it yesterday it was not even in the trouble call ticket etc. I will not recommend Fred's to anyone for anything. When our $5K Thermador steam oven was delivered, the truck driver said the oven was damaged. In hindsight, even though the driver documented the damage, we never should have accepted the oven. My husband immediately started the conversation with Fred's and asked to have the unit replaced. Over the last several months, Fred's sent several spare parts and an appliance repair person has been out twice to make repairs. The repairs are too extensive and is certainly way out of line for what should be expected for a "new" steam oven. We are not comfortable paying $5K for a new Thermador Steam Oven and getting a damaged unit. I am shocked by the lack of response from Fred's Appliances and how unrealistic their approach has been. read more

Just bought a top of the line Samsung Refrigerator/Freezer for our son and daughter-in-law. 2 compressors, 3 evaporators, French doors, black stainless steel. Sean, our sales person, was terrific. No hard sell, matches the lowest price anywhere, very knowledgable. I couldn't ask for better service. He would have been just as happy selling us a much less expensive one, but the kids have a small kitchen so counter depth was required, and they wanted black, so that dictated the chouce. We live in Wyoming and traveled 350 miles round trip to find a dual fuel range for our home. We stopped into Fred's and a salesman Jason helped us out. He did find a range in Bozeman after we left, emailed us the "specs" and advised we pay in full to hold the range. Upon us paying for it, he had it delivered to the store. We drove back 350 miles to pick it up. When we had the gas service come to install the range, there was no power cord and it took 240V and not the 110V we had previously. What is so disappointing is that out of the several times we communicated via email, with Jason, and then with Holly, who took our payment over the phone, no one asked one time if this range would actually work in our home, let alone let us know to purchase a power cord. Perhaps salesmen think the customer should just read the pages of "specs" and figure this all out on their own, but considering the amount spent, the 700 miles driven to get this product, it doesn't occur to anyone in the store to make sure the customer has what they need for the product to actually work? We had to hire an electrician to come and rewire the kitchen to make this range function in our home, and the gas company couldn't finish their job either. All because a salesman is too concerned to make a sale and not actually provide service. I will NEVER shop at Fred's again and I hope that their management sees this and gives their people proper training. This was totally unacceptable service. read more

My parents purchased a washer from Fred's just 2 years ago. It's a Maytag model, a well trusted brand, but the pump recently went out. So I wouldn't really recommend any Maytag washers to anyone either, anyway. We recently had to call Fred's to have a worker travel to fix our washer. He came from about an hour and a half away, he worked well, but we received a much higher bill than anticipated. The travel bill was extremely high ($117) and the company charged the same price to every person in our community that needed repairs that day. You know this company is just getting more and more money off of people for so-called travel costs. I'm sure they made hundreds that day off of "travel costs" when he probably didn't leave a 50 mile radius. read more

We purchased a $9000 refrigerator on 8/1. It was to be delivered on 8/15. Didn't happen but was GUARANTEED to be delivered on 9/5. Now we find out it "should " be delivered on 9/19. Before you let them swipe your card, have in WRITING a penalty for late delivery. No way to run a retail business. read more

We are very disappointed with this store. After purchasing a Kitchenaid glass top Stove in June, it is now Sept. and they still haven't completed the work. The store promised to add trim around the stove. The staff didn't properly inform us about how it wasn't appropriate for an island installation. read more

We purchased a GE washer and had great service, got it home and one of the knobs just twirled around. Called GE customer service and they were horrible, so called Fred's explained my issue and they sent a repair person AND in less than 5 minutes everything was corrected and working.
