Very good food. Friendly service, and great location in downtown Waterloo. My pasta was creamy and really good!

I came here with some friends for dinner before going to the playhouse. Food was delicious, service was quick and friendly, ambiance was casual. street parking was available, although we parked around the corner closer to the playhouse. There are several restaurants around here and others had a long wait so we ended up here and did not have to wait for a table. We sat ourselves and had a delicious meal. Since I am vegan the waitress brought out some bread without butter. The owner came out and talked to us, very nice people. Great spot, highly recommend! Follow me on IG @eatveganwithjoan

Be aware that this is a place you seat your self when you arrive o/w it is a bit Awkward when you walk in and just stand there. Or at least it feels that way. Ha. We stopped in here on a very busy Saturday night. Waitress was with us after a few minutes. She was nice but seemed new. We both ordered house wines- they were just okay. Our appetizer was delicious- bruschetta. However waitress never brought us individual plates to use. Fortunately the table was small enough for both us to be able to reach the server plate. Our meals were okay - seafood canoloni and chicken spedini. Each came with house salad which was basic. My husband also found something stuck on the inside of his wine glass. Gave it to the owner who I watched use a toothpick to retrieve spot. Then he poured a bit more in the same glass and brought it back to table telling us it was just a piece of cork. Kind weird. Overall it was an okay experience. I am definitely open to giving it another try. Probably 3.5 stars is more accurate

Food was lukewarm. Not the lasagna we expected at all. Staff was attentive and only 3 tables of customers so would not expect less.

Mediocre at best and food is way overpriced. $19.00 dollars for a slice of lasagna. Forget it. I won't be back here.

Steak was rare. Salads were watery. Food tasted like it came out of microwave. Water was even gross.

Went on a Sunday night, was ok. Lasagna didn't have much flavor but salad with house dressing was good.

There's both tables and booths along the walls. If you're in a larger party I def recommend calling ahead. We've had cocktails here, chicken parm sandwich, grilled chicken panino sandwich, fratellis salad, chicken Alfredo, tutto mare, spaghetti, the al formaggio, and the affogato. Everything has been delicious, fresh, and hot! The only complaint I'd make is that although it says panini for sandwiches they aren't the traditional paninis that are pressed & grilled but instead are just sandwiches so that was disappointing to find out after the fact. The staff are so friendly and attentive we hadn't been for almost 2 months and our waitress still remembered us & what I usually order. I love getting the al formaggio but instead of ravioli I get fettuccine, I love being able to have a portion of all 3 yummy sauces they have. Overall a great restaurant! I love that it's family owned, fresh ingredients, and a lot of stuff made from scratch (complimentary bread is yummy). My only true complaint would be that they don't sell that creamy Italian dressing by the bottle, would totally buy it all the time it's so yummy! Anytime we're in the area we'll be stopping by.

Even though we were 25 minutes early, our table was ready and we were immediately seated. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and also minutes after we were seated by our server. Our server was friendly and efficient. Drinks were delivered and refilled, as necessary. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. The decor is simple and tasteful. We waited a reasonable amount of time for our food, which was delivered hot and tasty. The only dish that wasn't 100% was my Chicken Spedini. I have had it there once before and it was amazing. This time, the lemon sauce was thick and sweet. Last time it was lemony and buttery. Otherwise, the Veal Parm was perfect, as were all of the other dishes. This is a nice restaurant with great service and quality cooked and tasting food.

Parking is easy within a block or two. Outdoor, booth, and table seating is available. My husband had the gluten free pasta because it is also vegan, and no lie and true to form, it was delightful and light! The tomato sauce is Perfection: not too acidic, not too sweet, letting the grand yet humble tomato shine. I chose the puttanesca, one of my favorite traditional Italian pastas. I would order this again!! Had plenty for lunch the next day. Not to be left out: the toasted ravs and cannoli. I've had a few T-ravs since moving to StL, and these are excellent. The tomato sauce for dipping, once again, is a real treat. The cannolis? Precious, flaky, and dreamy. I ate one at our table and took the second bad boy home. FIRE.

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched…read moreYelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
