My daughter got her hair colored for the first time, and Leah C. did an amazing job! She was so informative about how to keep the color vibrant and maintain it properly. She was also fun to talk to, and my 10-year-old felt so relaxed and comfortable laughing and chatting with her throughout the long appointment. We had such a great experience and will definitely be back! read more

Love, love, love Megan. Several failed attempts at different salons recommended by friends & colleagues led to a search of places close to home. I more or less picked a name out of a hat and struck gold! Great haircuts! She is very patient and gives great suggestions. read more

Megan is the best! When we moved here I had been working FT, parenting and had just let a lot of stuff go by the wayside. I was nervous to try and update my hair a little while finding a manageable style long term. Megan came highly recommended and I'm so glad I found her. She can pull of some really daring colors and styles, but also finds ways to make my (boring) style look fresh. Recently she suggested some highlights to help blend my gray hairs. I now get so many compliments, it's crazy. It was a minor, low investment change for me but looks much better! I love that she recognized a need I didn't know I had, made a suggestion without being pushy, and learned enough about me and my lifestyle to incorporate a style refresh. She has made me feel really good about myself and I always feel comfortable coming here. Thank you Megan! read more

Eduardo did my color and it turned out great! I'm so pleased. I was very nervous about finding a good colorist but he did a terrific job.

I have had my hair cut by Megan twice at Fredericks Hair Salon and she is the best! She listens to my needs and I am so happy with my cut after she is done. I love how she takes time to listen to me explain my needs and when she is finished, my hair looks exactly the way I want it too!! Thanks Megan, you're a great stylist! read more

I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair. I've been seeing Crystal for almost 9 years. She's taken me on a journey through a rainbow of color, as well as giving me the perfect blonde-brunette foil combo, full blonde... the works. No matter what we do it looks and feels amazing and I get lots of compliments. She also get age-appropriate style and ensures no missteps. My boyfriend has seen a number of stylists here and his hair always looks fantastic. All the stylists are friendly and funny - my all time favorite salon. Love this place! read more

I needed a big change and Jamie at Fredericks did not disappoint! The salon is clean and comfortable, the staff are fun and professional and the service is fantastic! Jamie is doing my hair these days. She really knows what she's doing! The cut is always spot-on, easy to style, grows out great, lasts a long time. Color is always great, grows out nice ( I'm not one to come in every month for color! ) Jamie is pleasant to work with & a real professional. read more

Shabby treatment. I have been visiting this salon quarterly for 6+ quarters (I think), and Jamie was the only one I have found who could manage my hair. However, today I received treatment that made me feel bad and burdensome. My hair takes just a couple of minutes to wash and about 15-20 minutes to cut. Today, she stops in the middle of the wash to go chat with a customer who came in an hour and a half early. Then, about 5 minutes into my cut, she stops to chat with another customer who was planning to get her hair colored purple. My stylist spent 10 minutes talking to the other customer about options while I waited, then she disappeared to apparently help the other customer's stylist get the color or something. I had to ask another stylist if she was coming back, and when she did, I asked her to stay and finish mine. "I HAD to help my coworker with the customer!" is what she told me. I allowed as how I'd like her to finish my cut, and that shouldn't be asking too much. I don't think I was being too demanding. . . The rest of the short visit I felt bad, like I had done something wrong, but I hadn't. The haircuts here are too pricey, and the standard tip that pops up on the payment app is too high, to go somewhere that is supposed to be relaxing and end up feeling like I was somehow imposing on my stylist. I told a few friends and they all, to a one, suggested finding another stylist. I won't be back. read more

I love Fredrick's! Crystal Kosta is a hair goddess! She has helped transform my hair over the years from frizzy to fabulous. She makes you feel comfortable to make changes small or large. I tried this salon shortly after moving to Seattle in October of 2012. While the girls here are super nice, I left the salon and cried after my first haircut and color. In fact, I cried every morning as I got ready for a week before I called to let the salon know I was not happy with my hair. The problem: I have fine brown hair that is cut in pretty basic long layers (my hair was about halfway down my back) with natural looking highlights and lowlights. I brought the color formula from my previous stylist and pictures of my hair after a fresh haircut. The color was blotchy, but what was devastating was how she cut my hair with this blunt shelf at the jaw line. The owner offered to do a free corrective appointment, but with the chaotic schedules of the holidays I didn't get in until Jan 2013. I sat down in the chair and she basically begun cutting without telling me what she was doing. She cut into/thinned the 'blunt shelf' in an attempt to blend it a bit better. unfortunately, since I already had thin hair, it now just looked horrible scraggly in the ends and really from the jaw line down. She retouched the color which made it slightly better. In the end I flew out of state to my old hairdresser back home, and ended up needing about 6 inches cut off to repair the damaged look from the thinning. Almost a year later, my hair is still growing out from a bad decision to try Fredrick's. I feel terrible posting this because they are so nice, but would hate for this to happen to someone else. read more

+1 star for easy online scheduling where you can choose your service and provider, in addition to booking a time +1 star for talking me out of chopping all my hair off when I was pregnant, and instead giving me cute swingy bangs I can wear with my hair up +1 star for the convenience and ease of subsequent free bang trims +1 star for Crystal carrying on her family's legacy and being great to talk to +1 star for friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and a bowl of Trident gum on the receptionist's desk read more

The price here for a brazilian blowout is GREAT, but the service itself is not so much. They really, really skimped on the product and of course, the results were virtually nonexistent. I had it done at Frederick's a while ago, so perhaps they have been more through with this service, however the impression they left on me has made me hesitate to return again. Wish this could have been a match made in heaven, but alas, you get what you pay for. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Crystal is absolutely amazing! I went to her in Seattle for 4 years and now that I'm down in Portland I sincerely miss being able to go to her salon, it's probably the biggest thing I miss! She is incredible with hair & color, I never had to think twice about how I wanted it cut or what color to do, she made suggestions seasonally and I constantly got compliments. I have yet to find anyone that can do blowouts as well as she can and her prices are SO cheap!! It's actually amazing how much she charges. Crystal also did my hair at my wedding, along with all of my bridesmaids and she went above and beyond, it was worth every penny! read more

Andi's a cool lady and she saved this 8 months-pregnant woman from a heat stroke! The combination of prenatal vitamins and pregnancy hormones turned me into a disheveled Rapunzel. Combine that with the crazy hot weather we've been having and I was liable to melt. It was really nice to chat with her while she cut my hair, and she did a fabulous job. She knew exactly what she was doing -- did a lot of lightening with layers, but kept it long enough for me to pull it up into a bun if I needed to. Thank you for relieving this woman of a veritable head blanket! read more

I had to gave it a five star. My experience was amazing there is nothing wrong, not a single thing, with Mallory. I am pleased! I always wanted to have blonde strips on my hair or a Balayage but when I went for consultation in another salon, they told me it's not possible because I have a really dark hair. So I put it off until now. Mallory at Frederick's was amazing, she understands and achieved this great color on my hair. Mallory gives you what you want and that dream hair of yours is achievable with her. Mallory is also such a sweet heart. I'm an introvert and I am awkward at meeting new people but Mallory made the whole experience comfortable. She does amazing job and also an amazing person. You'll have to see it for yourself :) read more

Crystal is a genius. I started visiting her to get the Brazilian Blowout based on a friend's recommendation. The BB makes my hair incredibly soft, smooth and frizz free - for three whole months! For the first time, I can actually air dry my hair if I want to. It is literally life changing - that's no exaggeration! Today though, I sprung for bangs. Crystal knew exactly the style I was looking for, gave me honest tips about what would work for me, and then cut them perfectly. She went so far as to show me how to blow dry them and even give me some tools I could use to get them just right. Bang trims are free too, so I can keep them healthy and the perfect length in the future! I'll never go anywhere else. read more

Good little salon but don't expect any of the fancy stuff. This a true blue down to the basic salon that will get your hair did'done. I would classify this as a neighborhood salon. Upon walking in, I was a little put off when I saw a bunch of old ladies walking around with those super perms, the place reeked of chemicals, and was pretty cramped. I almost turned to pass but I had a voucher to use and my stylist was friendly. Bottom line: I've got nothing against the stylists here, they are all well trained and friendly, I just wasn't impressed with the products used, the small space, and basically just wasn't my vibe. Nice gals, I'm just looking for something a bit more contemporary to my tastes. read more

Scheduled with Mallory. She was great! Gave me a haircut that was the perfect balance between the general description of what I wanted and her stylistic touch. A wedding hair and makeup MUST! Thankfully, a friend recommended the Fredericks of Greenwood dream team for my bridal party's hair and makeup needs. Crystal, Desiree, and Leah were such a pleasure to work with. I did a hair and makeup trial with Crystal (only $100 for both)--which gave me confidence that I would look stunning on the wedding day. The three ladies came to our hotel room at the Pan Pacific and got right to work--doing hair and makeup for 8 women including myself, the moms, and my bridesmaids. Everyone had a wonderful time and more importantly, everyone looked GORGEOUS! Very reasonably priced. We had a great time spending my wedding morning with these ladies. And, our hair and makeup held up for a very long 12-hour day, sweet! read more

I'm the type of girl who gets her hair cut once or twice a year, so when I do I want to go somewhere that can give me two things: A great experience and a lovely haircut that will grow out with my busy schedule. After searching around I found Fredericks of Greenwood. I booked an appointment with Mallory (+1 for ease of online booking) due to her glowing reviews online. Parking was easy and I was able to get in and out in no time. Mallory was sweet and genuine, a pleasure to chat with, and gave me a wonderful cut! I asked for some layers to lighten the load of my hair and a touch up on my self cut bangs (yeah, I decided to do that to myself) just in time for a New Years Eve show. Overall I had a great experience and will be returning here for my next cut- that may have been inspired to be sooner than six-12 months! read more

I highly recommend this place! I had to find a new salon because I moved up to northern Seattle and going to Cap Hill for a hair cut became too cumbersome a mission. After looking at some reviews on this place, looking at the photos, and finding the price reasonable, I made an appointment. So glad I went! I had Mallory and she was awesome! Very easy to talk to, totally understood what I wanted and she even gave me her recommendation on what would look good. I was also inspired by her lovely lavender hair and I will be returning to get my hair dyed too! Can't recommend this place enough! read more

I visited Frederick's for the first time just a couple of days ago after my friend recommended it to me. Having my hair cut this time was such a big deal for me since I wanted to go from veeery long hair to really REALLY short! Mallory was excellent! Ah, I am so glad to come in and get some self-care time with Sarah Piha at Fredericks Salon. Everyone is so kind and lovely here. The first time I came in because I was new to the area and looking for someone who could cut curly hair. Sarah was available and I've been returning loyally ever since she not only listens well to my thoughts about what I'd like for my hair, she also is an empathetic listener when I share about my life. I've since recommended my favorite people in my life to go to her as well so they can receive her kindness and care. I also had Sarah do my hair for my wedding because I wanted to surround myself with calm and thoughtful and fun people on my special day. She helped me feel like a queen and made it special and glamorous while staying oh so calm. So grateful for the memories of time with her and my besties getting ready. Thank you, Sarah. read more

I've been frequenting this salon since I moved to the Greenwood area of Seattle in February of 2013. I was new to the neighborhood, so I went on Yelp and just browsed through reviews for a few of the local salons. Frederick's sounded like good quality, unpretentious, and friendly service. My kind of place! I'm not going to lie, I chose Andi for my first appointment at random. But it was my best random decision ever! I've loved everything she's done with my hair, and when I was on the fence to cut it all off and get a pixie cut, she was enthusiastic and supportive. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Jamie worked wonders on my hair today! That and they worked me in when my normal stylist cancelled! My hair has been lifeless for 6 months and she made me feel like my hair was cute for the first time in almost a year! She was super sweet and chatty, which I love instead of sitting painfully quiet for 45 minutes. Really happy and she's found a new regular client :) read more

One word, JAMIE. Seriously, she is amazing. She does my cut and color, as well as my husband's cut (she's versatile, see.) I lucked into her over 5 years ago when she worked at a salon a few blocks from my home. When she moved to Fredericks and I realized I would have to bus or drive to her, losing the convenience of walking, it was a no-brainer. I trust her, she listens to my concerns (read, lack of desire to do anything that takes more than 3 minutes) and always makes my hair look terrific. You can schedule on-line, and I love that convenience. She is super accommodating, and I just adore her. I have recommended her to a very hard to please co-worker, who is very satisfied. *All of the beauticians seem wonderful, I can just only vouch for Jamie. The salon is bright, clean and organized. The 5 (bus) stops directly outside the shop, so super convenient, or there is parking behind the building. read more

This review is for on-site Wedding make-up with Crystal... Crystal was right on time and got to work on my make-up. She was thoughtful, kind, and funny and did an amazing job. I asked a lot of questions (since I can't do my own make-up to save my life) and she answered and explained everything that she was doing. (Note to self: schedule a session with her to learn how to do make-up). I felt absolutely beautiful. The make-up stayed on and looked flawless for over 9 hours, despite the hot conditions and hours of sweaty dancing. Thank you Crystal!!! read more

I accidentally died by hair blue back in March 2013 (long story). I called Fredericks and got an appointment for a color correction with Jessica. All I can say is that she is awesome. She is super knowledgeable, and I walked out of there with a nice color and cut...blue hair gone. I went back this week for a touch up and a cut. She gave me another great color and cut. I love it!! Jessica is really good at what she does, and I totally trust her with my hair. read more

I can't even explain how lucky I feel that I a friend referred me Crystal at Fredericks of Greenwood about a year and a half ago. I was a new mom and hadn't had my hair done in almost a year. Crystal was AMAZING! I knew after going to her the first time that I had found the hairdresser I have always been looking for! Crystal is so much fun and always willing to take a risk if your up for it. Which I love since I love changing my cut and color frequently. I walked out with blush lavender colored hair last week. We will see what next month brings. I highly recommend Crystal and her team! read more

My favorite hairdresser in the area.. it took me cloae to 4 years to find a good hair dresser, and from the first visit to the salon, the knew how to style my hair and what it needs. Highly recommended. read more

When I came in the first time and paid for a haircut she was nice and friendly. When I came in the second time for a complimentary trim, Heather was running late on someone else's appointment. After some waiting, she paused her other customer to quickly trim my hair. She was in a big hurry, the trim was sloppy. She even nicked my ear and she let me leave the salon without knowing it was bleeding. Never coming back again. read more

Leah is absolutely fantastic! How, you ask? Let me count the ways: 1) Haircut genius. My layers are always perfectly cut and look effortless and carefree, just the way I like them and provide amazing volume and body to my notoriously flat-in-the-winter hair. 2) Sassy blow-outs. Okay, I know using the word "sassy" is pretty cheesy, but there's really no other word I can use. I feel like a million bucks after Leah's done with my hair-- it's bouncy and the ends curl just right. After my last haircut/blowdry, boyfriend said I could be in hair commercials. That's an especially good compliment considering my hair was damaged beyond comprehension before going in. 3) Amaaaazing colour. I promise. You can get foils and allover colours pretty much everywhere, but Leah also does balayages which allow for way more control over how you manipulate colour placement. The technique results in a more blended and natural look which is pretty important for me because it makes grow-out a lot softer and roots are less harsh. In addition to her technique, Leah is attentive and perky and becomes a friend in addition to being an amazing stylist. She has an educational background in fashion so she has a great eye for design and keeps up with industry trends while bringing her own creativity into the picture. You can tell right off the bat that she truly loves what she does and it's translated perfectly into a great new look (or improvement on a classic). read more

I decided to give Fredericks a try based on the good yelp reviews and the easy online scheduling and I'm glad I did. First, the scheduling its great. You can chose the hair dresser you are interested in and see all the available times. Also unlike other online scheduling services it actually reserves you an appointment then and there. I decided to go with Leah. A few years ago I moved to Seattle from San Diego. I had a hair dresser I loved in San Diego that suggested layering my hair a look I learned to really like. When moving to Seattle before Fredericks I went to two separate hair dressers asked for layers and in both cases they said my hair was to fine and it wouldn't work. I'd pretty much given up so I just told Leah the general length I wanted and that she could do what she thought was best outside of that. She was actually the one that suggested the layering which I was glad to hear and I told her my issues with other Seattle hair dressers. She said you could layer anyones hair it just depended on where you positioned the layers. I loved the cut I got and its great to go to someone so knowledgeable. read more
