    Birthday cake

I bought my daughter's bday cake here and although cute it was nothing special for the cost of the cake. It was okay but very dry cake, and more icing than cake.

I had a Boston cream cupcake from Fredericks pastries, and I really went for it because it was pretty intriguing. I mean who wouldn't look at the name, Boston cream cupcake and choose it out of your typical slate of desserts? Overall, I think that it was a good cupcake. A tad bit dry with a little less filling that I would hope mainly at the top and not in the middle. I'll be at. I am not a baker in any sense, so I'm not sure if there's a feasibility to put more cream in the middle, but if there would be, I would've highly recommended, including more of that iconic Boston cream pie filling in the middle of this cupcake. I think that would really help with the moisture aspect of this as well. Overall, it's a fun try, and I would recommend given it a shot!

The desserts here are delicious and the workers are very friendly. The chocolate cake is my personal favorite and the frostings are rich and sooo delicious. The cheesecake is another personal favorite.

We've always gotten our birthday cakes, or other special occasion cakes here. We've never been disappointed! Great staff and great sweets, you can't go wrong!

Frederick's is an awesome little bakery located in the Bedford Square (Talbot's, T-Bone's). They specialize in fancy cakes such as wedding cakes and birthday cakes. They also have candies, chocolates, pastries, brownies, cup cakes, cookies, fruit tarts, cheesecakes, festive logs, cannolis, and more. Check out the website at http://www.pastry.net They also sell coffee to go. The cannolis are not on display but the staff will stuff the cannolis fresh to order with a creamy light filling chocolate chips and walnuts. Soooo good! Exceptional sweet treats and service!

Not impressed. I had a "Strawberry Mousse" Torte. More like strawberry whipped topping... No thanks.

This place has been busy since they opened. I stopped by on a Saturday for a sweet snack. I decided to go with the Regular Classic Loukoumades ($9.90 plus tax) and added Praline Chocolate Sauce ($1.90 plus tax). There was a line to the counter, but it moved quickly. I received my Loukoumades in about 5 minutes after ordering, which I quickly enjoyed in the food court with a hot coffee. The box was filled with a dozen or so loukoumades balls smothered in plenty of rich chocolate sauce. They also have picks at the counter for enjoying this treat since it was messy. The warm loukoumades were light and chewy and went well with the rich praline chocolate. would definitely try some of their other toppings on my loukoumades next time.

This one will be a quickie. I've had the opportunity to try four or five different cupcakes from…read morethe Gone Baking van, so I'll put up a quick review. This is ONLY for the cupcakes. Laura's right that you do have to pay attention and generally hope she's close by to get your hands on a cupcake. Stock is (justifiably) limited and locations change daily. In general, the cupcakes are good, and like most cupcakes do need to be eaten within the day or the quality deteriorates. The prices are a bit cheaper than her most significant competitors ($3/cupcake, $33/dozen) but are offset by the difference in size. In comparison to Queen City Cupcakes, I think Gone Baking is willing to be a bit more creative with toppers, bottoms, and flavors in general. I think it's a function of having to operate from a van, but I found the frosting to be too heavy and thick for my tastes. The cake varied and I would have preferred a softer version than what I got, but it wasn't bad. Of the flavors I had, the one that hit the sweet spot was the Gone Camping. The Smores inspired cupcake had a delicious graham cracker bottom and the thicker frosting was used well to house a chocolate topper. My other favorite was the "Mountain of Mint" which had a great interplay of chocolate cake, mint frosting, and Andes Mints. I also tried the Chocolate M&M (eh), the Lady in Red (I think QCC beats their Red Velvet out), and a Cookie Dough based cupcake which had an incredible concept (cookie dough mixed well into the cupcake batter) and kind of lost it on the overwhelming frosting choice. Fun concept and still doing business all over Southern New Hampshire, certainly worth a shot. Limited selection/availability and heavy frosting weighted down my scores a bit.
