Don't expect anyone to be nice unless your face to face... all phone interactions will be unpleasant and unhelpful and all "messages" in the patient portal will go ignored or unassisted...
Moved to Frederick from Baltimore so I looked into changing doctors. After doing some research with doctors on my health plan I picked Dan Rosko from Parkview Medical Group. I contacted them and made an appt. The lady I talked to was not helpful or friendly. I felt like I was bothering her. My records hadn't arrived to their office from my old doctor yet and she didn't treat me like someone who was starting to be under their care. She didn't offer to try to see why they haven't come over yet. I asked her to call my previous office and find out what the deal was, but that was almost laughed at and she told me I had to do that and to call back to make an apt when the records arrived. Little did I know this was the tip of the iceberg. The records arrived and I made an appt.
The receptionist when I got there was very nice and I had everything filled out and ready for her. The nurse was really pleasant also and Dan Rosko was OK too. I was put on medication. I ran through the medication and attempted to use their online "patient portal" messaging center - which is a joke. Don't even bother. Call if you want to do anything, just realize that the people you talk to are going to be mean. Only "nice" people you will ever deal with are the people you see in the office. So back to the medication. They told me they couldn't refill me and that I had to make another apt before they would. I was leaving for Hawaii for a week the next day and really wanted a refill before I went. I left a mean voicemail upset that I wasn't getting meds before vacation.... you guessed it no answer to my message on the portal, no call back, no nothing. Went to Hawaii with no meds and roughed it.
So as pissed as I was about all that - the real reason I'm writing this and will never go back there again is about to come. Everything up to now they probably consider as "good service." I have sleep apnea and went thru my insurance and got the info of a sleep doctor. I contacted them and they said they needed some info from my current "doctor office" first. I contacted Parkview and asked them to contact the sleep doctor and gave them the sleep doctors info. I said there was some info that they needed so if they could contact them and get them what they need I'd appreciate. I was told very smartly that they won't do that. Really? Last I checked you were my doctor and worked for me, but whatever. I was pissed, but I called the sleep doctor back anyway and gave them the info of Parkview and asked them to contact and get whatever they needed.
So a day later I got an email from my sleep doctor (hey how about that - they respond to messages and let the patient know the status of things - crazy) saying they got in touch with my doctor and gave them the paperwork they needed completed and they just wanted to keep me in the loop about what's going on. Crazy concept I know. So a week goes by and the sleep doctor sends me another email and says hey just wanted to let you know that your doctor just got back to us with the info, but it's incomplete so I just let them know that it was incomplete and explained what else was needed. So I responded wow thanks for keeping me in the loop. See when I first contacted the sleep doctor and they mention needing my doctor to be involved I quickly laughed and let them know right away that Parkview's office was a TRAIN WRECK and extremely UNHELPFUL so I think she might have been overly keeping me in the loop because she knew my doctor would not. Anyway I appreciated it and I let her know that.
So here's the kicker - a few days go back and I shit you not the sleep doctor emailed me (I still have the email if anyone wants to read it) and said that she just wanted to let me know that they will not be helping me because after she sent the stuff that was incomplete to Parkview they responded that they weren't completing the required paperwork because IT WAS TOO MUCH EFFORT! Are you kidding me?!? I'm furious and I want to lay in to someone, but at this point I don't know if it's worth it. So I called my old doctor and they took care of everything. If you're looking for a doctors office that actually puts the patient first and tries more than 20% of the time do not go here! I hope I saved at least some headaches. read more
