I had a regular check-up on Monday, and the doctor neglected to mention that I might need a root canal. A couple of days later, I ended up in excruciating pain--I was crying and couldn't sleep. It was his responsibility to refer me to an endodontist as soon as possible. Instead, he mentioned that his office charges less for root canals than others, which turned out to be untrue. When I returned on Wednesday, I was in unbearable pain--my entire face hurt, and I couldn't stop crying. Although the doctor was kind, he seemed oddly eager to get me out of the office. I was desperately searching for a nearby dental office because I had an emergency. The receptionist on the phone was incredibly rude and passive-aggressive. When I mentioned I couldn't make an appointment, she told me I had "too many options" to choose from and even yelled at me when I requested my X-rays. I've now been waiting for my X-rays for about a week, and when I finally received them, the quality was so poor that I'll likely have to redo them--and probably pay for it again. I absolutely agree, this facility provides POOR care. I thought I was the only person with a bad taste in my mouth after leaving this dentist's office. For years I had a fantastic family dentist and when I changed jobs, my insurance changed which left me without a dentist. After being in the care of exceptional medical professionals I know when I am experiencing poor care. I too was referred to orthodontists and other specialists which was surprising to me since my dentist who cared for me and my family for years and complemented our teeth never suggested specialists. I could not understand why suddenly I needed extreme work on my healthy gums and teeth. I got a second opnion and was told I did not need it. I visited with this dentist perhaps 3 times (once in an emergency) and always left feeling like I needed a shower. Negligence and unprofessionalism are the services here. On 02/03/22- I chose a Dentist from hell. I trusted and felt very comfortable during my first visit. I asked for flexible dentures for my upper teeth and was told I needed the bottoms as well, by Mr. Cohen, and his wife, I believe. They were constantly asking me how much my FSA account had on it, so I told them; and they charged me the entire, amount on my Flexible spending account. I was overcharged and taken advantage of, for starters. Once My dental work began, it was downhill from there, They cleaned out my FSA account, and refused to give me an itemized, receipt for the charges of my dental work. 03/2022- I was then given an appointment to, return, to have my impressions done. 04/2022- I was called to return to get the fittings of my dentures. The dentures were the size of a seven-year-old tooth, I refused them. All April and May I was waiting to have the dentures, done over. every week in April, and May I was told, that someone would call me to return to the office, and no one was calling. I started calling the office and was never connected to the office, but to an answering service, who was very nasty and rude. The answering service lady, kept telling me she would let the office know, I called and someone from the office would contact me; which did not happen until several more calls. I was called into the office again at 3215 Avenue H' finally on June 01, 2022 hoping to get my dentures finally; to find out the upper dentures had open spaces on both sides, simply ugly. I had to refuse those dentures once again. Here it is 06-23-2023, and someone finally called me to try my dentures again. I am so fed up with Frederic Cohen and his rude answering service lady, I do not trust the dentures I will be receiving from them, I want a refund. Not to mention my last visit, to Frederic Cohen's office, I was lied to, I asked Frederic Cohen can I please speak to him, but when he finishes the phone call he looked at me and rolled his eyes, and ignored me, I asked him again, thinking he did not hear me and he yelled at me saying " CAN'T YOU SEE I AM ON THE PHONE' HE was SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Then once he got off the phone, he back inside the office saying, I was belligerent and mad because he was on the phone, that is not what happened, so, meaning he lied on me. My mistake was I allowed them to take the full payment before being serviced, thinking they were nice people. Take it from me, I have no reason to spend the time writing bad reviews unless the situation calls for a review. Frederic Cohen and his answering service person, caused me to get sick, from the aggravation of the stress, and not to mention, I was working the whole time without teeth in my mouth, causing me distress, and not able to function at work, well. I speak to people, I run groups, and I advocate and speak for a living, I missed functions and do not attend dinner outings because of my mouth. I had to turn down many engagements due to my dentures not being completed, almost six months later, I have been mentally abused, emotionally abused, and still have no teeth in my mouth. Fingers crossed I can get this resolved ASAP. I want to take him to court for such a horrible experience. read more

The off location receptionist is horrendous, I literally waited months to hear back about whether I was cleared to do dental work while in extreme pain. Dr. Cohen and his staff are the best. It sounds biased but maybe it's because walking into the office is parallel to walking into your own home with your own family and friends. Each staff member knows my name, asks about my family and holds meaningful discussions along with performing exemplary dental work. Currently, I'm getting Invisalign treatment but I've also gotten a crown, cleanings and a root canal that didn't make me cry. I truly recommend this office! read more

This was BY FAR THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE!!! This man was completely unprofessional, neglectful, and ultimately painful to me. I left bleeding and in tears. I picked his office because it was nearby and took my health insurance--yet I did look him up on YELP and saw more positive than negative things. Upon entering and being told to "watch my bag closely," I was ignored for about 15 minutes. Then someone called a name, NOTHING LIKE MINE, and said, "come fill out this form." So I did, and 45 minutes later, a jolly, cool, happy guy said, "Hey! You missed the storm!" So I responded, "Really?! I'm right across the street and thought it was nice all day!!!" He then said, "No, I mean it was very busy before, the waiting room was PACKED! we just scarfed down some Chinese and its 3:00!" ( my appointment was at 1:30...) he had someone who didn't speak English X-ray my teeth and upon looking at them he said--"Eh, you're ok--no bone loss. But I think I'm gonna recommend a Periodontist." I was like--"Oh omg, ok..." And he left. I didn't even have a cleaning. I didn't know why I needed to see a specialist. I called my insurance company and they listed a few, so I made an appointment with one. The periodontist' office said, "we need your X-rays and a test showing why he recommended us." So I made another appointment with him... THIS Is where my long winded story gets good. He greets me with, "we have a periodontist HERE, why didn't you make an appointment with him?!" I responded with, "oh I didn't know that, I had no idea." (Thanks for letting me know the first time I was here...) Then he says, "YOUR INSURANCE ISNT GONNA COVER THE PERIODONTIST ANYWAY, so this is a waste of time." THEN, he plucks my gums at the base of EVERY TOOTH, with a tiny pick, stabbing hurriedly and rushing and complaint--while I BLEED, and says, "ok we're done. No more calls to my office CUZ your insurance won't cover anything anyway." I asked what I needed done and he said "Maybe nothing. Your teeth are good--no cavities that I can see. But your gums are high". (I'm thinking---they always have been---you didn't ask...) so as HE WALKS AWAY--OUT OF THE ROOM, I said "Well thanks Doctor, I'm sorry to have wasted your time." I was bleeding and crying. I went to the Periodontist and they had no idea why he would think I needed them. They said he was lazy and unprofessional. I think he's an absolute MONSTER. I'm suing now. I found myself with a horrible toothache on father's day and found this place online. Although it was a Sunday I was able to get an appointment made by Bridgette for the next day. Initially I was very grateful for them being able to see me on such short notice. Got there and found out I had an infection on a tooth that needed a filling for awhile. My first impression of Dr. Cohen was that he was a bit quirky but still cool. He seemed to know my dental coverage was "pretty good" and didn't mind mentioning it a couple times. After the root canal I returned for another visit only for him to literally peek in my mouth at the tooth and let me know he was going on vacation and to make another appointment for when he returns. Now I was supposed to get a cleaning in addition to a crown. I thought he would've at least started the cleaning process but nope he just sent me on my way. Wanting to keep my care with one provider and avoid having to do the xray process all over elsewhere I decided to come back. He broke my cleaning process into different visits saying he had to clean my mouth in quadrants because otherwise the insurance wouldn't cover it. I've had my coverage for awhile and never encountered that from a provider. Also the cleaning he gave me seemed VERY minimal. I am used to being numbed and getting a cleaning that makes a huge difference, he didn't even have to numb me for the nonsense he did. After finally getting my crown I decided not to return. Now I have found a very nice new dentist who was kind enough to tell me about insurance and xrays as I was making my appointment. They advised me to contact Dr. Cohen's office for my xrays since they didn't know if insurance would cover new ones. When I called I got Bridgette who told me the charge would be $35, I asked her if she could email the xrays to me she said no they would print them out on paper. I asked her what would happen if a person no longer lived in the state can she mail them, she said I could give her my credit card info over the phone. I said, ok BUT you're not telling me how I would get the copies! She got frustrated and said I could just have the new dentist take their own xrays. I'll just leave that right there lol. read more

So after my rant, my fiancee decided to return to this dentist. We had gotten a better offer somewhere else, but overall my fiancee was very confident with him. He worked with us billing wise and more than made up for the crap they were trying to pull there. read more

This dentist's main concern is not the patients' satisfaction,but how much money he makes. I went in to have a bridge made and although he charged my credit card for the full cost of $4,000.00, (which included all costs associated with the bridge),he also billed the insurance company for x-rays done. In preparation for the bridge, he ground the two abutment teeth too much causing me pain and damaging the nerves of both teeth, yet refused to do root canals to correct but instead did a filling on one of them. I ended up in the E.R with a gum infection caused by bacteria getting into the tooth with the exposed nerve that he filled. His wife, meantime, whilst I'm in the chair complaining of a pain, tries to get me to commit to doing a root canal on ANOTHER tooth (not part of the bridge) for a cost of $1,785.00, telling me that the pain could be caused by that tooth instead of the damaged teeth. After having the bridge made, I went back on FOUR occasions complaining of pain, and he refused to do root canals, though he had said to me on the second time that I visited that he thought it might be the nerve, but "he didn't want to go in yet". They then went away on vacation for two weeks, leaving me with a gum infection. When I opened up a dispute with Care Credit (they paid for the bridge), he wrote a letter to them and misrepresented the facts, saying he started a root canal (out of the goodness of his heart) when he never did that. He claimed to have done other services on the damaged teeth (never did). Also lied and told them that I used obscene language to his receptionist (never did), Also told them that I had a LARGE hole in another tooth which he had kept pointing out to me, (totally untrue), trying to imply to them that this tooth was the cause of my getting the gum infection. Instead of accepting that his negligence caused my teeth trauma, he has instead misrepresented the facts to the credit card company. NOT ONCE has the office called to try to remedy the situation. I have had to pay out of pocket to another dentist to have two root canals done to alleviate the pain. In light of all of the above, I would not recommend that ANYONE visit this dentist, as he is a greedy, self-serving unprofessional, who does not have his patients' best interest at heart. He wants to make a fast buck, and with the help of his wife, they do just that. With big smiles and saccharine sweetness they welcome you, yet their sole motive is to make as much money as they possibly can. This review is a truthful one, not based on malice. I am deeply disappointed that this man can be allowed to treat patients in this manner. I am sure that there are many other patients with complaints, but they have not all posted their experiences. I went There for the first time and they were nice and happy and joyful. They told me I needed gum transplant, scalping, and all kinds of nonsense. I went to see an orthodontist and did the scalping, and afterwards made an appointment with Frederick. Every time I would make an appointment with Bridget, she would tell me that Frederick and his wife were on vacation. I told her, "I need to make an appointment for a cleaning", and she told me that Frederick would be back on the eighth. So I went there today to have a cleaning and an X-ray, and do you know what those retards did? They BRUSHED MY TEETH. THEY BRUSHES MY TEETH AND TOLD ME TO USE MOUTHWASH!! I said " This isn't a proper cleaning. " They said "that's how we do it here. if you're not happy, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE." I was shocked that someone could take advantage of a person. STAY FAR AWAY! I had three run ins with this doctor and after the third time I left the office. First incidence: lost my patient chart and had to re-do x-rays and charged me for those unnecessary x-rays. Second incidence: during a checkup he told me I needed a root canal. I made a follow-up appointment for it. He neglected to tell me that he didn't actually do root canals, so instead of giving me a referral to another dentist he had me come in a second time, charged me for a visit, and told me that he didn't do root canals.Third incidence: after I got the root canal done I came back to his office so he could check up on it and he wanted to put in a crown. The other root canal specialist said I didn't need a crown while Cohen said "I do crowns for everyone, if you don't want one you need to go somewhere else". I was so angry that I left his office and haven't been back since. I recommend Dr. Michael Korngold on Avenue M. the difference in service is beyond belief. read more
