I'd personally like to thank Carlos, who truly went above and beyond to help me during a very difficult time. I had a bolt broken inside my alternator, and I was extremely nervous about attempting to remove it myself because I didn't want to damage the aluminum housing or mess up the internal threads. I had already spent what little money I had on the alternator, and being currently unemployed after getting laid off, I honestly didn't have much money left to spare. I was willing to simply pick Carlos's brain and learn the proper way to remove the bolt myself, even if that was the worst-case scenario. But fortunately, Carlos had the heart and compassion to actually help me. He was incredibly kind, understanding, and compassionate about my situation, and he went out of his way to help me when he absolutely didn't have to. Carlos, I truly cannot thank you enough. Your kindness meant more to me than you probably realize. My family and I are genuinely grateful for what you did for me. If you're looking for an honest shop with integrity and stand-up people who genuinely care about helping others, I highly recommend this shop. They truly understand what it means to help not only their customers, but their community as well. In a world where it can sometimes feel like people only care about making money, Carlos reminded me that there are still good-hearted people out there who are willing to help someone simply because they understand what another person is going through. Thank you again, Carlos. You really made a difference for me and my family. read more

Freddy's Auto Electric - 2 of the best auto electric mechanics and father and son combinations ever! - Auto Repair Near Me - San Francisco, California

After a unexpected pot hole left me without two tires, Carlos was extremely helpful and assisted me with a tire change and alignment. He is knowledgeable and communicative. His expertise made the whole process go very smoothly and resolved my tire issue easily! read more

Vehicle: 2018 Infiniti QX60 Time of Service: 10:30 AM Freddy & Carlos took care of my car's issue swiftly and painlessly. They were flexible on availability and the work was finished within an hour which even included complimentary tire and level checks. From scheduling to completion of labor, all was done in less than 24 hours. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

Freddy's electric was easy to work with, very communicative, and as quickly as possible diagnosed a complicated electrical issue that was draining my battery on a Honda crosstour. Carlos was super considerate and clear. I'd definitely hire them again! read more

One of the previous reviews says that Freddie's Auto Electric doesn't work on cars older than 1998. That is not true. They recently fixed a bunch of things on my 1995 Buick LeSabre, so perhaps the reviewer was confused. read more

Freddy's came recommended from the Nissan dealership to help me resolve an electrical issue I was having with power going to my 4x4 transfer case. The issue turned out to be very simple but the dealership couldn't figure it out and Freddy's did!! They charged me a lot because they had to diagnose for awhile, but Carlos and Freddy where nice and very helpful read more

If I could give an extra star I would hands down! My AAA driver recommend Freddys to have my 95 Jeep Wrangler towed to. I knew I already needed some work to be done before it died on me. Carlos asked if I would like to have a full diagnostics done which I agreed to. Carlos gave me a call the next day. He explained what was going on with my car as well as emailed me the breakdown of the cost of parts and labor. I had a a mechanic friend who unfortunately does not live in SF to the breakdown to make sure i was getting an honest quote in which case he told me that I was. Not only did Carlos understand my financial situation, told me what could wait and what was a priority. Overall I am happy to have found my mechanic shop who are very friendly, honest and explain things clearly. :) Short versio read more

My car NEEDED a check up a head about this place. They are really nice and friendly. They tell what your needs work on before they do the job a give you price as well. So you know ahead of time before anything happens. They are straightforward but caring. Definitely coming back here for when I have car issues or simply for an oil change. read more

Unfortunately, we experienced a less than pleasurable experience when we were advised to contact our insurance company because our car would be most likely be deemed a total loss due to ongoing issues and extensive repair. The only saving grace was that Carlos was helping us navigate every step of the way. He made arranging an inspection with the insurance company a breeze. He took and returned our phone calls with efficiency and dedication. Strong communication skills which are always welcomed and applauded. He went the extra mile to help us find websites and sources that would give us the highest, most compelling comparisons in our favor. Just having a third party to advocate and advise was invaluable through this process. You can tell that they are really on your side and want you to see success. I would always return as a customer and send anyone I know here to have work done. The integrity of this place speaks for itself. THANK YOU! read more

We are very pleased with the work done on our truck! It was broken into and needed wiring work and they did a great job and are very professional. I highly recommend Freddy's Auto! Big shout out and thank you to Carlos. Thanks again. :) read more

Big shout out to Carlos! I bought a bigger battery to crank the cold-blooded diesel in my 4Runner up in Tahoe, and while the battery fit fine, the post configuration made it so the positive terminal wouldn't quite reach. After scouring the internet, hitting up Autozone, O'Reilly's and another mechanic, it just seemed that I was SOL as no one wanted to deal with the headache. "Just take the battery back" they said. Then I called Freddy's and spoke to Carlos. He agreed to take a look at it and see if there was anything he could do. "We never turn away an electrical problem" he told me. Same day, no hassle, no fuss no muss. I pulled into the shop and after looking it over, said he'd figure something out. Worst case, he'd re-wire the cable. Charged me a fair price, called me in an hour, and was all done. His "jury rig" was cleaner than the original wiring. By the way, you ought to see the SWEET custom Ford truck they were working on in the shop and how unbelievably clean the wiring job was on that thing! Hell, the entire build was TV Reality Show worthy. These guys care about their craft, and are fair and a pleasure to deal with to boot. They earned my highest recommendation today. read more

A big shout out to Freddy's!! My husband brought his police car in for service, they are extremely reliable, very professional and trustworthy. We took the car for a recall to the dealership and they did a really bad job which Freddy's Auto Electric fixed. We are absolutely pleased with the service, the honesty and the overall service. Excellent customer service! They are definitely a pleasure to work with, they charged me a very fair price and I would continue to refer them to all my friends and family. Gracias, gracias, gracias! read more

Called to ask about having some electric work done on an older car (1980's). Person at the shop told me they no longer work on cars earlier then 1997. Just writing this to let others know if your looking to have some work done on anything earlier. Was disappointed to hear that even a fully focused automotive electrical shop has gone the way of AutoZone and unless the job is plug and play they can't help you. Sign of the times. read more

Freddy's is great! The personal attention we get from Carlos and the quality of his work has kept us coming back for years. If you're looking to build a long-term relationship with a mechanic instead of a quick, cheap band-aid fix, then this is the place to go. Over the long term, our older model, pretty beat-up car has driven better, with fewer and fewer problems because the guys here have put in preemptive safeguards and thoughtful maintenance. Work is always clearly explained and parts & labor are consistently and fairly priced. The shop can get pretty busy sometimes, so it's always a good idea to call ahead. An added bonus is the location- near to transportation, rental cars and restaurants/cafes so you're covered whether you're waiting on a quick fix, or you're in for major work. read more

Not bad. We had a car Honda civic 1998 with after market auto alarm installed which always act up and difficult to control. We did not install that alarm. We bought it used with that alarm already installed. One day that stupid alarm simnply shut off the engine and does not allow me to start my car. So we had the car towed to Freddy's and they removed that stupid alarm for $165 including tax. Not bad. To me that stuff is really complicated and I thought nobody can remove it. But they removed it. I think this is also the same shop that helped me install a new alternator in my 69 Rolls Royce 10 years ago. read more

The battery in our Ford Explorer kept dying on us. I had AAA come out half a dozen times. They had installed the battery last year and it showed it was still good but discharging. So this place seemed to be the best in the City for problem automotive electrical work. I took it in and explained that something must be draining the battery since it would die so quickly. They kept it 2 days and when I picked it up they said there was nothing wrong with it. They also charged me $300. I went home and in 3 day the battery discharged to half according to my tester. I charged it again. Four days later it was nearly dead but I got it to crank. I've been checking it every 3 days and after charging or running it it would show full charge. Two to three days later it was at half or less. Something is draining the battery and these guys couldn't figure it out despite the fact they had it for 2 days and charged me $300! Wish I could find a place that could figure this out. read more

Needed some serious work done on my car!, car is overheating and runs like s#%*!. I know what needs to be done, being an engineer, I already asked a lot of my co-workers that knows a lot about cars and came up to the conclusion that it needs a complete work on the cylinder head, gaskets, seals, hoses ect. Brought it to Freddy's and talk to Carlos, after I told him what was going on with the car, he already knew what he is going to do, and I know that this testing is what is needed to be done to confirm my cars problem. In conclusion, my car is now running like a cheetah, sorry too much Discovery channel. I would recommend Freddy's Auto Electric to anyone. read more

Had talked to the owner Freddy and we set a price for the work to be done on my car. Left my car and when I got back his son Carlos was very rude and told me he had to run some test on my car. ( without my consent ) and he told me I had to get repairs that will cost me over $900 when I told him I did not want to do this repairs he then told me I had to pay $240 for the diagnostic which I did not agreed on and did not sign for. He refused to give me my car keys when I told him I was not going to pay. He finally made me pay $150 because he was getting aggressive and I did not want to get into a confrontation with a man. No repairs were made. AVOID THIS PLACE read more

wanted to like this place and went because of some good reviews, but I am quite disappointed. for 250$ I would expect a thorough diagnosis like e.g. part x in system y needs replacement. but if for this amount of money you just get a quote to basically exchange every piece that is somewhat linked to the error, that is quite frustrating. yes, likely this solves the problem and I have no doubt that they will do a great job fixing it, but it is extremely uneconomic - at least for the customer and the environment. basically a quote like this means: we haven't specifically diagnosed, so let's just replace everything to be on the safe side the issue is fixed and cash out everything possible. in my case: why not for example offering to start with replacing the wiring, given that the mechanical output of other parts had been fine? would probably reduce estimated cost by ~80%. so unforetunately, i have to agree with some of the negative reviews here, if you look clueless, they will try to max cost. update: i was offered full refund, so that's at least fair. nevertheless, don't treat your customers that way in first place. read more

5 years later and I still trust Carlos and Freddy with any job I'm not willing to take on in my driveway. They are unimaginably skilled and knowledgeable. I've brought them everything from modern German cars to 80's trucks and classic cars. They are extremely honest, helpful, communicative and friendly. Their prices are fair, they truly care about their work and are always willing to go the extra mile. I wish I could give them 10 stars, I send everyone I know to Freddy's Auto Electric. read more

They refused to repair my car. I assume they have a ton of demand, they hand pick the people and the car to repair to make sure they charge max $$$. I knew exactly the piece to change, the time to do it, and I offered them 2h labor saying that if they need more they call me first. But the guy refused, because he knew he would not be able to add extra charges and I would check what he did... If you don't mind the price, and you know nothing about mechanic and pricing, I am sure they ll do a great job and you ll be happy about it. You will have a free smile too. read more

If I could give more stars I would! Freddie and Carlos are amazing! I have an 83 diesel Land Cruiser and was fighting with a solenoid / starter issue for 2 years. I have been going to this auto repair shop since 2003 when I was referred by my co-worker. They have worked on two of my used cars and my current new car. They are very trustworthy and reliable. They always give me an accurate estimate with a full explanation of services and options with regards to parts. I sought advise from them on the purchase of my current car two years ago and am very pleased with the outcome. RecentIy I had an issue with my new car and they helped me navigate through the process and figure out what should be done through the dealer vs. them. I have referred them to multiple friends who have been equally pleased. They are a pleasure to work with and I continue to refer friends and colleagues. read more

These guys were soooo nice -- they reduced the price of my agreed-upon estimate from $170 to $120 when they realized they wouldn't be able to fix my problem - but were clear on what the issue was and what my options were. Only bummer was the cost of the estimate, though it admittedly was an explicit gamble they communicated as to whether they'd be able to fix it for that fee. read more

Stopped in to Freddy's this morning looking for some free advice about a starter I had rebuilt myself. Freddy was super nice and took a minute to test the unit to confirm it was working properly and give me an explanation as to why the turning resistance I was feeling was normal. I'm a do it myself car repair person but there are plenty of auto electric things even the shade tree mechanic can't always do (alternator rebuilds for instance) and for auto electric I will definitely come back to Freddy. read more

Once again, I had to bring my car into Freddy's and once again, I was impressed. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need, and they showed me exactly what they replaced! Above all, they gave me a fair price! 100%happy :) read more

I was referred to Freddy's by Larkins Brothers Tires. My window was broken and wouldn't go up or down. I got it replaced three months ago at another mechanic who charged me $300 and used crap aftermarket parts. Carlos exceeded my expectations by getting the repair done earlier than promised; charging me only $250 and giving me back the old crap part so I could send it back to the other mechanic for warranty reimbursement. Carlos also made sure to show me that the new part he put in was from Ford and not a made in china part. I will be going back to Freddys! read more

Freddy's is wonderful. They are reliable, kind, and their prices are great! They recently helped me with an electrical issue with my honda civic. I was referred to Freddy's by a honda mechanic after 2 places couldn't help me... and these guys fixed my car in no time(and for way cheaper than the Honda dealership up the street quoted just to diagnose the problem). Carlos was the man who helped me, and he was extremely helpful, nice, and explained everything that was going on. He even worked late afterhours so that I could pick up my car in the morning. Highly recommended! read more

Carlos and Freddy are seriously the best. Great auto service and great customer service. I am a single woman and used to dread going to a mechanic, but these two are so honest and so thorough. I couldn't recommend them more highly!! read more

These are people who you can trust. I was in the situation of having a classic car that other mechanics and garage's had screwed up over the years due to this lack of knowledge and care for the unique challenges of working on older cars. Working with Carlos, I was able to identify the way to bring my car back to life step by step within the budget I had available. They were clear in their estimates, fair in the costs and the work was thoroughly done. It has been a great experience to work with Carlos and his Freddy over the years. I love the friendly atmosphere of their garage, which I believe is the result of their integrity and years of treating customers well. read more

Great service. I had a stubborn (suspected) battery drain in my car and I was treated very well. Transparent, professional.

These people are AMAZING. Father and son duo who are so attentive, helpful and honest. I felt well taken care of by Carlos, who also helped me replace my door handle free of charge. We were towed here. We drove from Modesto and got stranded. The tow truck driver suggested a friend who had a garage. I'm thinking, "This will not end well". We had no real options, so we knew we were potential victims. The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized the business was. Carlos was great throughout the process. We were kept informed every step of the way. He discussed the estimate with us and answered all of our questions. They were busy, but the part was located and the car was repaired by the next day. We were happy with the whole experience. I felt like we dodged a bullet. read more

I've being a loyal costumer with Freddy's for almost 20years. Freddy and his son would do anything to fix my car. They have vast experience, they are excellent electric trouble shutters. When you have a hard, weird problem they would tell you if they can do it or not, they need to invest time to find the problem that's why it is hard for them to set a fix rate. I TRUST them they never, never over charge you. They know what they do. They are Honest people. My family, friends and may people i refer to them still take their cars to them. They are easy people to talk to. Their rates are moderate. read more
