Freddie & Pepper's Cheese Slice - slightly thicker and not really crispy like your classic 5-star New York slice
Mike R.

Heading to a movie nearby, so checked out Freddie & Pepper's, a narrow pizzeria for slices you need to step down to. There's limited seating with one cafe table out front. Ordered a plain cheese slice, but had wanted a second slice of Chicken Mole, one food I really like that I've never seen on pizza. Unfortunately, they only have Chicken Mole on certain days, and not on Sunday... so I chose mushroom instead. The crust on both slices were chewy, slightly thicker and not really crispy like classic 5-star New York slices. While flavors, on the whole was not as strong as elsewhere. If you're from out-of-town, it's probably more in line with a slice you'll find wherever you come from. That being said, if I'm in the neighborhood during one of Freddie & Pepper's Chicken Mole Slice days, I'll check it out.

We stopped here on the way to Penn station. It's well located to be able to grab a slice on the go and sit in the park nearby, which we did. As you can see from the photo, the pineapple pizza was very heavy on the cheese, though the crust was perfect. The pepperoni slice had more crackery crust.

My slice shop of choice when I'm in the area, which is usually for the movies. The cheese slice is excellent, the Buffalo chicken ranch is SO good, the Sicilian is better than expected. They have all the good toppings available, and there's seating both in and outside. Four slices were $20.50 w/cash

I've probably already reviewed Freddie and Peppers because this had been my go to place for at least ten years. I don't give a crap what Bar Stool says, this is the best slice in the city. It's got all the old school NY vibes too. If you're on the UWS, this is a can't miss. If you're not, get your ass up here.

Did not disappoint!

Grabbed two slices on my way back to my hotel room. One slice of Mushroom and One slice of cheese. Had 1/2 bottle of red wine left which made a perfect addition to the pizza. Tasty crust and toppings so I was very happy! And after two slices, Very full!!!

Four slices and two bottled sodas, came out to about 30 bucks for big slices. The staff were busy, but at least able to tell me what each pizza had in it. The atmosphere is typical New York and you have to come down a few stairs to come in to a small little seating area. There is about two tables and four chairs outside. Not a bad spot to hit when in New York City.

Great NY pizza in the Upper Westside. Quick service, great crust and perfect cook. Small area to dine in put a great stop for a slice of pie.

I went here with my girlfriend to have some pizza. They have some good vegan/whole-wheat options. Pepperoni Chicken Bacon Ranch Seafood Zucchini The Chicken Bacon Ranch was the best!

Continuously excellent slices, Satisfaction level is tops, The "Macho Slice is really delicious and with a nice spicy flavor. Complex toppings. Also the Barbecue Chicken slice is crispy excellent, The Margarita slice Excellent and the Plain slice is excellent. Something special about the dough, crispy, crunchy, tasty, satisfying. Wish I could have these slices more often, as I am generally out of town. Recommend!

Probably the best texture of pizza i've ever had! The slices were cooked to absolute perfection. While it was not the very best margherita slice i've had, I still very much enjoyed Freddie & Peppers. The cheese slice was a little too light on the sauce or else it would have been crowned the best in my book.

A really good slice of cheese pizza with excellent flavor. The staff here need to be a bit more friendlier. When I went in they had lots of slices on display but nothing was coming out fresh.

Pepperoni slice

There's truly nothing better than an authentic NY slice of pizza. Freddie & Peppers absolutely delivered for me. This pizza place is definitely not a romantic, scenic spot - it is very basic and gets right down to business, which I appreciate. There are many people coming in and buying pizza by-the-slice, and then taking it back home or eating on-the-go. Although I only got one slice of pizza (pepperoni), it was fresh, warm, and slightly soft yet crispy. The flavors of the sauce, cheese, bread, and pepperoni all combined together perfectly - nothing was overpowering. My only wish is that the slices would be a bit less expensive (this one slice was around $4), but I'd still go back and try some more because it was so good.

Great mom and pop NY pizza joint. Well priced slices, good crust, good toppings selection. No ambiance, definitely a grab and go place.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

It is located right in the hallway of a subway entrance, next to a bar and across from a coffee shop, and it somehow manages to feel like a cozy, sit-down restaurant right in the middle of NYC. Don't let the odd location fool you, the food here is outstanding. The Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas are both exceptional, with rich, well-balanced flavors and perfectly executed crusts. Every bite tastes high quality. Also, don't skip the house-made lemonade! The experience is even better because of the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They were all so kind to so many people. From offering to keep leftovers in the fridge until a customer was done at their broadway show, to offering a scone to a young child while he and his father waited for their pizza to be done, it was more than just flipping a table and onto the next tip, it was humanity at its best. Be sure to give See No Evil Pizza a try. You certainly will want to come back again for more.

We came here with reservations right after watching &Juliet across the street and the only problem was that I the dishes were so big that I couldn't order more. My wife and I enjoy a good meal but didn't research the size of the portions well. Thankfully our waiter guided us appropriately. We ended up skipping the appetizers and getting a chicken parmigiana and a half order of the rigatoni vodka! It was just enough for us. The chicken parmigiana was just right. It's their star and we can see why. The chicken was breaded well and dressed in the rich sauce and cheese. The breading was not overdone and the chicken was moist and tasty. The complimentary bread was helpful in mopping up the sauce. It was my wife's favorite for the night The rigatoni was my favorite and I regretted only getting the half order.
