This small space is inviting and warm. The staff is knowledgeable and explains things well. We did…read morethe chef's tasting with the paired wines and it was over the top! Our server, Jess was amazing!

I could not be happier with my experience at Mink. I came with my son for mother's day and didn't…read morereally know what to expect. When I walked in and saw the tiny space I was charmed. There was a 2 top table at the back that we were seated at - we could have sat at the bar also - and it was a great spot. We ordered the tasting menu and WOW, every course was amazing. I'll post pics because the presentation was gorgeous for each item. They have a small cocktail and wine and beer selection, but that was fine. My son got their Shrub Mocktail and I got the Shrub with Sake. Both were delicious and so interesting. I can't pick a favorite item because they were all so good, but the Torched Mackerel and Poached Bosc Pear were tied for #1, followed by the Salmon, Oysters and the crazy good Blood Orange dessert. The shrimp toast was just ok for me, not bad, just not as good as everything else. Additionally the service was outstanding. For a tiny place they did everything right. They explained each course, brought out fresh utensils for every course - YEA! - and made sure we had good pacing. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and enhanced our meal. I really want to come back and try the oysters and some of the tinned items. I'm so excited I found Mink and will be back for sure.

Recently, my husband & I finally tried Voyager after having it on our list for many years. When I…read moresaw that they were having their annual Mid-Winter Lobster Boil, it sounded like fun and the perfect opportunity to check them out. We sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bartender. My husband had a new-to-him beer, which he enjoyed, and I tried the House Martini, which had saffron-infused gin, Strega and dill oil with a pickled onion. It was unique and enjoyable. Before our lobster boil arrived (we had a heads up that it would take 20 minutes), we ordered a bowl of chowder and hush puppies to split. These were my favorite part of the meal! Both were EXCELLENT! The chowder had light, crunchy, homemade croutons in the soup, and it was the perfect addition and the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever tasted. I will share one disappointment. The RESY page where they took the reservations/orders said: "We'll offer a small a la carte menu of coastal favorites & seasonal specials too (e.g. fried clams, shucked oysters, crispy fish sandwiches, etc.)." My husband was excited for the fried clams and talked about getting them several times leading up to our dinner, only to find out there were no fried clams offered. As a matter of fact, our request was met with a reaction that led me to believe that was never even a part of the plan. So why post that in the description? We enjoyed the lobster boil, but felt it was overpriced for what we got. We felt the other items we ordered off the menu were well worth the prices. Our overall impression is that this small, casual restaurant has quality seafood, side dishes and drinks. We will definitely return to try some other items off their regular menu (and get the chowder and hush puppies again!)

Service is always friendly and welcoming, menu innovative and ever-changing. Seafood offerings are varied, creative, and SO FRESH! We love Voyager and it is always worth the near three hour drive, especially when we make it a weekend! Lots of fun areas surround Ferndale. Can't leave this review without mentioning their annual mid-winter lobster boil...a NOT TO BE MISSED event! A whole perfectly prepared lobster, accompanied by sausage, fresh mussels, fresh clams, corn, new potatoes, herby seasoned broth, and of course, drawn butter! Watch for it and get your reservation in! You won't be disappointed! Sorry, we were so busy enjoying the evening, we forgot to take pics, but here's one pic from last year's mud-winter boil!

Wow - what a beautiful restaurant and delicious food. After this Sunday meal, we already booked…read moreanother reservation to try the Chef's Tasting menu. If everything is as good as what we ordered this time, I can't wait to try more! Firstly, the natural lighting in here is just fantastic, and I really like the layout - you have a bit more space than some of the other downtown restaurants, and it's fairly quiet. Nice cozy booth seating as well as chairs. The gated parking lot is also a huge plus downtown and service was absolutely excellent. We came on a Sunday to try their all day happy hour, and it did not disappoint. $2 oysters meant that we ordered 2 dozen, and while the east coast varieties tend to be our favorite, their west coast selection was also top notch. Just lovely, salty, briny fresh oysters with a great mignonette. We also both ordered dirty martinis, and they're perfect for $8. We also had the focaccia which comes with this amazing tomato pesto - it tasted like pizza concentrated into a sauce. Yum! And the focaccia is perfect - the kind of bread that makes you remember why bread is so good. Pillowy and soft inside, toasted crispy outside; an amazing app. For dinner, we had the squid ink and seafood pasta, the wild striped bass and the lamb. Everything was absolutely so delicious and perfectly cooked. They split the pasta for us, which was very nice, and I just can't get over the delicious unique flavor of that dish. Outstanding. This pasta is the kind of pasta you want to order when you go out. Lots of yummy seafood, perfectly seasoned al dente pasta, savory sauce. The bass was the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I've had in a long time - crispy skin, tender moist flesh, buttery sauce. And lastly, I was super impressed with the lamb - it was tender yet crispy on the edges, savory and satisfying. If a seafood restaurant is doing lamb this well, I've got to see what else they have to offer. Can't wait to try the tasting menu. Even hubby was impressed and had zero complaints about anything, and he's tough to please. What a gem of a restaurant.

My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.

Jeff as our server was a delight! He took good care of us. We stuck around long enough that we hated to see him moving on to the room for a party celebration. My bestie had the shrimp & grits plus three different flapjacks! The pancakes/flap jacks are huge. Nice establishment. Definitely has some yummy picks with a nice environment!…read more My family and I ended up going here for a Mother's Day reservation, but it ended up being a bit difficult with the operational side of things. It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.
