Claps to a grocery store for getting a 4-star review. Most aren't worth 2-star reviews. This became our grocery store of choice while we lived in the Eugene-Springfield metro. PROS: Clean... I mean, this tends to be a struggle with many stores. They do a nice job of keeping it clean. Organized... typically you find stores that are messy and not well stocked... this FM does a great job of staying stocked and organized. CONS: Staff is lacking. The self check-out is a mess. A dang hot mess. The computers don't work most of the time, you're always needing assistance and having to wait. There are never any of the little carts available... because they're scattered all over the parking lot. NEUTRALS: You'll likely smell an employee smoking grass in the back of the store. Always an interesting experience to smell active pot in a grocery store. Funny, we've been there twice now where management is actively working in the aisles, suffocating in the green fog, no one does a dang thing about it. Guess it is just Oregon? The management is obviously lacking at this location. Truly, a change in management would yield this store a 5-star grocery store in Springfield, Oregon. read more

First off, super clean establishment free from random bits of trash or debris that I'll see in other department stores. It's the best one stop shop in the area. We will NEVER EVER shop at this store ever again!!!! Horrible, horrible piece of shit manager at this store!. My husband and I wanted to have 2 beers, but because we do NOT drink much, my husband and I wanted 2 microbrews; or even 1 large can microbrew because we did not want a whole six pack. He drove down to the store off of 5th and all they had were cheap malt liquors, which we don't drink. So he left and went to Fred Meyer. My husband is a friendly person, was talking to the people in the store, which he ALWAYS does, and he knows everyone working there, since we shop there often and we have spent thousands and thousands of dollars there! He went into line to buy 2 beers, the cashier got a call on her phone from the manager; who said, "we can't sell you the beers." He could not believe it and was beside himself. He said that even the cashier was baffled. So we will no longer ever use our money at Nazi Meyer!! I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove the fact that this store has a selection of things I like. Specifically when I come here, I usually buy Hormel Compleats Spaghetti N Meat Sauce Meals, something I was introduced to in 2020 by my American Aunt Betty when the Coronavirus was a big worry. It seems that Fred Meyer's in Springfield is the only place I know that carries those. I also come here to buy stuff for my kitchen and bedroom. Yesterday I bought a container for a new popsicle mold set I got for my birthday from my American sister, since the container it came in was too small, and this one fits them juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust right! I also bought a cushion for my chair by my music machines in my bedroom, as the one I bought before was too hard, and when I first sat down on this new one, I've felt amazing ever since! One specific reason why I came here this week is because I have been trying to locate a friend of mine who used to work at Albertsons on Coburg Road. This friend of mine, Austin, used to work in the Frozen Foods department there, but the woman at the checkout stand said he now works as a "shopper" at Fred Meyer's in Springfield. By "shopper", I wonder if she meant "shopper's assistant", the employee who helps those like me who are sight challenged when they're shopping alone. When I asked the cashier, my friend, Nikki (I think I spelled that right), if she knew anyone named Austin who works there, she says she doesn't know anyone with that name. She does, however, know someone named "Augustine", but I'm not sure that's the same guy. I also like Gina (sp) at the deli counter, as she's always full of joy! When I buy lunchmeat from there, she always waits for me to sing to her in a joyful voice, "Sunshine!". There's also another woman, I'm not sure of her name, who has a lovely accent, and she's another cashier, who helps me and my American mom at the checkout stand. Thanks for treating me like trash on my birthday. Just left the store after a horrible altercation with a very inexperienced older female cashier. There's a special right now where you get a deal on prime rib if you spend $50. The gentleman in front of us was under this amount and asked her to have someone get him 5 twelve packs of soda pop from a nearby display. It took 5-10 minutes for two middle aged men to inform him and the cashier that those displays didn't have actual soda in it. We then waited 5-10 more minutes. Honestly? I'm livid at this point. I had some gifts and groceries to buy, I've been in the store an hour. I loudly exclaimed "IS THIS REALLY HOW WE'RE EFFING HANDLING THIS?!" (With the swear. I swear. It's not illegal) during a long period where the cashier was away from her post. Was this bad decorum on my part? Sure. Not arguing that. I continued to seethe quietly as a manger comes and leaves then another one comes offering help and the cashier sends her away. I do make a few comments about it being rude to the person with me but not with a raised voice. He's finally rung up and as we approach, I say "that was really uncool how you guys handled that" she asks what she was supposed to do, I say he should have been sent to customer service, she says there's a line there too. We keep arguing, not yelling, and she never apologizes and continues to berate me for being unhappy with my experience, telling me she's been standing for hours etc. to be clear, I'm not yelling. I never yelled but admittedly I did raise my voice I'm frustration (while she wasn't even there), but I'm not so psycho as to do that in someone's face. Plus it had been about ten minutes after I raised my voice that I spoke to her for the first time. She refuses to ring up our groceries and says she needs a manager. That first manager who came and went scolds me for being "disrespectful" and I retort that it isn't very respectful to make me wait 20 extra minutes because all these people are clueless. The cashier continues to argue with me after the manager tells her to leave. The manager refuses to ring up our groceries and says she is finding someone else. I didn't really trust her since she'd just been escalating the conflict with me, no one's acknowledged that what I went through was not ok or apologizing. I'm trying to pick up my groceries to go to another line and she's firmly telling me I can't do that. Finally she got a polite young man to ring us up who let me vent a bit and deescalated me by acknowledging this wasn't the service they strive for and simply apologizing. Just went through the checkout where I said hello to the cashier three times as she was so worried about what other people were doing around her that she did not reply so I waved my arm at her to let her know that there was an actual human standing in front of her, trying to communicate and she couldn't and wouldn't respond with one word she wouldn't tell me how much my total was I guess I was supposed to guess No thank you no goodbye. I wanted to cash paycheck as usual on a Saturday evening after the banks were closed. Upon arrival I waited at customer service for almost 10 minutes. Finally someone came along to inform me that nobody would be working that desk for another 15 minutes. I was surprised, but understood as everyone is so short staffed. I returned 15 minutes later as instructed. Only to be told that they wouldn't cash my check due to the register not having sufficient funds. Total waste of time. And completely unorganized & unfriendly service. I will not return to this location. read more

Best service ever! I love love love Fred Meyer's curbside pick-up. It was easy to shop and pay on their app and then you just choose a time to go the next day, park in a designated pickup spot, call them and they come right out and put all your groceries in your trunk for you! What could be better than this? Fred Meyer was already my favorite place to grocery shop for their prices, organization, options of items including natural foods section, short lines and helpful staff but their curbside pickup is top notch! read more

How have I not reviewed this Fred Meyer location yet?! I love this store. It is easily my favorite location. I always find what I'm looking for in here. The vegetable section is great, with a high quality selection. I always come in here when I am going to make stuffed peppers because the bell peppers they sell are nice sized and shaped. Mushrooms are always fresh as well. I end up paying a bit more than at Winco or Wal-Mart, but the quality is totally worth it. They have some of everything, groceries, clothes, furniture, toys, kitchen accessories, and soooo much more. I love their selection of Columbia brand clothes. Clearance is wonderful. I've bought $40 shirts for $10. I find great Christmas presents in the toy section for my nephew. They have a special section near the clothes just dedicated to Oregon Duck gear and accessories. I always stop in there whenever I come in the store. Employees are always helpful. They are also quite cheerful. It's pretty rare I have to ask questions in the store or can't find anything, but when I need help, they are always willing to do so. Cashiers are cheerful and great. They have great sales. I bought Chiobani yogurt for $1 each, instead of $1.50. I found Dryers ice cream for $3 each, on sale. I love sales at Freddie's. I love the rotisserie chicken they sell around dinner time. It's like $8 for a whole chicken, pick up a couple side dishes and done! I can feed 3 people for less than $15 with a pretty decent meal and no work involved. The store is always clean and neat. It's a store I love because it's close to my house, they have a great product selection, and good employees. I've been shopping here for years and will keep coming here. read more

The manager is a b- go to return two items that didn't fit because of course there's no damn fitting rooms. Barely get them home try them on. Take them back and apparently they smell of dog so they wouldn't take them. Mind you these clothes didn't smell of nothing but the smell of where they came from. My dog wasn't anywhere near them. So I'm stuck with clothes that don't fit me. Failure as a store manager. I don't recommend shopping here. These items were pretty much defective even the employee there agreed and the manager just didn't give a flying shit. No longer shopping there anymore. Store sucks a- anyway. I bought an orchid for my husband while he was in the ICU for two weeks from a heart attack. The orchid looked beautiful, with a graceful white pot and another plant nestled in beside it. It cost well over $60. Unfortunately, it died within the month, because it was rotting. I am an experienced orchid grower, and repotted it quickly, hoping to save it. There was no way. It had drowned, because the medium was almost all Spanish moss, with a tiny layer at the bottom of very small bits of coconut bark. Moss is highly absorbent, and I wouldn't even recommend using only small grade orchid bark in repotting a moth orchid. I use Spanish moss at the TOP to protect and provide a small amount of humidity to the roots that crawl their way out of the pot. What a shame. Now I just have a very expensive pot. It brought me to tears. Fred Meyer, I hope you will consider using another venue to buy your orchid stock. read more

I have been shopping at Fred Meyer for years and my biggest frustration with the Q st Fred Meyer Springfield, is their continued errors Ringing "sale" items at the regular price. My husband is a receipt checker and almost every time we shop there, some mistake has been made and we pay full price instead of the Advertised sale price. We have to go through The hassle of going up to customer service to get a refund for the over charge. my question to you all is, how many people are buying sale grocery items and unknowingly paying the full price Because they don't check their receipt. I'm beginning to think they are doing this on purpose, false advertising to get away with it. How inept are the people running this store? Its too bad they are giving Fred Meyer a bad name. read more

Disappointed. I ordered a birthday cake from their bakery, and showed up at the prescribed time to pick it up (a couple of days later). They lost the order. I showed them my confirmation. I was told that "never" happens. Well, guess what, it did! They did not offer anything to try to make things right, no options, nothing, just "sorry" (and not a heartfelt sorry, more like an it-sucks-to-be-you kind of sorry.) Not exactly what I would call stellar service. My trust is gone. So disappointed, I expected better. You have a choice, there are other bakeries, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

My husband and i went here to find ink and a pool. We were in the store 5 minutes tops and they were closing the doors as we were leaving and still wouldn't let us exit through that door as they were locking it. It's funny: I visited the place for the first time in maybe a decade, and planned on giving it a real bottom-of-the-barrel review based on (if nothing else) the *very* dreary state of the building itself. It's decades old, and looks surprisingly run-down for such a major franchise. But then subsequent trips led me to cross paths with Mika(?) & Darren, both of whom were so specifically awesome (among others, I might add) that I wanted to include them by name here... in the off-chance that anyone really reads this stuff! As I often say in my reviews, I consider really *any* effort on the part of employees to be above & beyond, and these guys were very much that. :) read more

Clothes are way overpriced. Cheap, China-made peasant blouse priced at $59. Found a blouse on a rack marked Clearance 70% off, now $5.95. Took the blouse to checkout and she rang it up, not for $5.95, but for $16. Clearly, not what I was expecting. I pointed out to her what the sign said and she showed me the tag, which showed a completely different clearance price. I bought it anyway, but it was very misleading. I can't figure out why everyone hates this store. I have been shopping there for 6 years, and I am always treated well. Sure there is the odd unfriendly, disinterested store clerk but overall, the customer service I receive is wonderful. Try Susie's checkstand. She's sweet and helpful and a credit to FM. And she's just one of the nice people working there ( the rest of you know who you are!) I love Freddy's, and their gasoline points program can't be beat. Out of all the Fred Meyer's I've been to this is the worst one! If it's not on sale here drive to a different Fred's where it will actually be. This is a large Fred's but they don't actually have a full selection of anything. The produce selection is the smallest I've seen. They don't carry boars head in the deli. The bakery is pathetic. The natural area has the bare minimum. The garden section is laughable, but hey they have a huge furniture/decor area and the clothing area is massive. However don't be fooled about the floor size they give those last 2 areas! It just means they had more space to spread the minimal stock they keep. read more

Old, run down store. Other locations have all been updated and are of higher quality but this store seems to be the neglected step-child. The people who work there are for the most part friendly and helpful but the bakery has little to offer, the meat is terrible and no fresh deli to speak of. I wont buy meat there anymore after returning rotten meat 3 times. I guess i have to buy groceries in Eugene. read more

Living up to their own standard, I asked for a cosmetic product that the clerk said they didn't carry because they were in "Springfield". If you don't carry it how can someone in "Springfield" buy it? The staff appears bored and tired and only somewhat happy when talking to each other. Maybe management could explain that their customers can shop anywhere and try to remember that a smile and helpful attitude keeps them coming in. I had been a loyal customer to the Springfield Fred Meyer for over 15 years, but that changed yesterday. I had no problem sucking it up and dealing with the unprofessional, unfriendly and inappropriate nature of a good number of the checkers, because of the selection the store has to offer and the few checkers that don't exude misery. Yesterday when I realized that I didn't make it home with a few of my purchases, the response that I got from customer service (all three of them) was anything but acceptable - rude, condescending, curt and no offer whatsoever to indulge me in trying to resolve the issue.
