There were other beginners in a class of about 10 so that immediately made it less intimidating. Classes are $20 each and they have an unlimited option for between $100 & $115 per month. The salsa taught here is not ballroom, it's for salsa club dancing and it's taught on 2, as opposed to 1 for those who are familiar with dance terminology. There are beginner classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7 and 12 pm on Saturdays. I am told that one night they even go to a salsa club to test out moves. Overall it was a very warm and inviting experience. After teaching you the steps on your own they even conduct part of the class paired up which makes things interesting. If you're looking to learn how to dance salsa for fun or a different way to get some exercise and are in or close to the New Haven area, I would highly recommend checking out Rumberos.

The instructors are a lot of fun; they creatively teach the subtle technicalities that make a big difference. I've witnessed beginners transform to great salsa dancers from coming here. Here's the schedule: Wed-Wicked Wolf Thurs-Pulse Lounge Fri-Pacifico Sun-Geronimos It would be great if Rumberos taught more styles of dance, like hip hop or bhangra. They may offer belly dancing as well, but I have not tried that yet! Salsa is so fun you may get hooked. Watch out for the paparazzi! :P

Neither of them were particularly good dancers, but after one short lesson with Laurent, they were able to put on quite a show at their wedding!!! I was actually stunned how Laurent was able to teach them so much in so little time! He also helped me and the bride's father with our dances with our children, too! Laurent was pleasant, professional and a joy to work with! We all had a ball and he even helped us with our freestyle moves when we had a dance party at the end of the lesson. I was thinking we'll use the Groupon and then never come back. Imagine How surprised I was when I found the classes to be amazingly fun! David, our Instructor, is Hilarious and a great teacher. We have signed up for the follow on curriculum and I'm happy to say that I think I can now consider myself an intermediate dancer. The other regular instructors, Sandy and Kevin, are likewise amazing and very knowledgeable. They, along with David, Have formed a close knit group of people into a very tight community that make coming to dance class fun! An example of how great this is is group class. Now many people, and i was among them, think group classes are awkward and weird: You go to dance with your partner, not with other people! but with this group it's not weird at all and very helpful! I would suggest Arthur Murray Hamden to anyone who thinks they might want to dance. My wife and I will most likely continue to attend Arthur Murray Hamden even if we move out of the area. You will be surprised with how fun classes are and how quickly you will change from a non-dancer to someone who can glide around the floor with ease.

We told Karen (our instructor) what our song was (Take My Breath Away by Berlin from Top Gun) and she choreographed and taught us how to do an amazing dance! She was so positive and was able to us to create a dance we were comfortable with and that looked great in such a short amount of time. Karen is very knowledgable and professional. She knows how to teach the same concept different ways to ensure learning and retention. When she gives feedback, she's sincere and is always positive. Karen really worked with our schedule to meet our needs! My husband and I had such a FUN time learning and working with Karen. Thank you to Dance in Rhythm for helping 2 of the shyest people (who hate dancing) to be able to have a beautiful first dance together!
