Putting all the kids into bright colored & bling bling costumes and conducting a big recital may impress parents, but that's too superficial. If fun is all you want for your child, maybe this will work. But if you want some classical ballet techniques and discipline for your child, and elegance and grace, go elsewhere. Despite being in the college hub, I don't think URI kids make up the majority of the students at Bend. I will make the journey to South County for Nicole Defelice & Isabella Sanderson, two instructors who teach regularly at Bend. Both primarily teach power vinyasa. Both play excellent music in the studio when they're teaching. Both are so joyful, challenging, & fun. Both are 2 of the best yoga instructors I've ever had the pleasure of practicing with. Nicole is a biologist & frequently weaves animal themes into her classes. She knows exactly how to explain micro-adjustments & motions that make the practice more accessible & enjoyable. I've unlocked advanced poses & maintained difficult arm balances thanks to Nicole's instructions. Isabella might be a sadist, but I say that in the most complimentary way possible. Her classes can be incredibly grueling, but if you stick with it, your endurance, strength, flexibility, & balance will improve immensely. Both Nicole & Isabella are the kinds of instructors you hope you're lucky enough to come across once in your lifetime. Somehow, Bend has secured them both. They're precious cargo. They also probably deserve a raise. Thank you, Nicole & Isabella, for nurturing my practice for years now. I never would've become the yogi I am now without the two of you. A note for the owner - I love the updates you've made to the studio over the last few years. My only humble suggestion is to put different lighting in the lobby/common areas. The fluorescents are painful.

We found Dance Expressions through a local group we are apart of and this girl of mine is LOVING it. Ms Lauren is her instructor and she has the patience of a saint with these littles. Ms Shannon communicates well with the parents and keeps everyone in the loop! If I could change anything though it would be to make the lobby a bit larger so we can see them practicing with a few more seats. It takes me roughly 20 minutes driving from TF Green to this place on a Wednesday afternoon. It is pretty easy to miss at night since it's not very well lit and the parking lot could use some work. The place inside though is very well lit with a large Studio A and a slightly smaller Studio B. As far as I know both of the Studios are the same setup with a mirror wall, a bathroom, a disco ball, and a very good sound system that will make anybody deaf. The receptionist is a a nice lady that takes care of payments and keeping track of people taking classes. This place is primarily focused on ballet, but they do offer boot camp as well as my favorite - Zumba! Price for these classes run $8 each but get 4 or more and they're $5 which isn't too bad. My favorite Zumba instructor Sue Dorne (who got me hooked on this workout craze!) teaches here who holds classes on Monday @ 10 am and Wed @ 7 pm. She always brings a cheerful smile and plenty of energy to each class I've had with her. I definitely find the one hour class flying by moving non-stop through all her music routines. When she's on a roll she can definitely make you work up a sweat trying to keep up, but she's also great at slowing down and demonstrating the steps to every new beat. Definitely a great class and it's frequently packed. Mainly women take this class which doesn't bother me one bit since all I'm there for is the great workout each and every time! Tip: Bring a full bottle of water and be prepared to move and listen to some great dancing music :)

After we moved to RI we found this place on Groupon, which purchased us a private lesson, a group lesson and a dance party, for a pretty decent intro price, so we got it. Our first visit, nobody else showed up, so it was essentially a private lesson. We met Caleb and Rusina, and were paired with Caleb for the evening. Since we have done quite a bit of dance in the past, we told him we were already married, and knew a lot of what we wanted to do and what we didn't want to do, and he disregarded it all. Throughout the evening, Caleb forgot multiple times that we weren't there for our "first dance" and in fact have been married 5 years. He also seemed like he was distracted during the lesson, pulling and pushing us off tempo and saying things that were contrary to what he was doing. We were frustrated, but hoped our next lesson we would get Rusina and things would be better. Unfortunately our next lesson, about a month later, we got Caleb again. Our experience with him the first time was not a fluke, and he was the same if not worse this second time. He didn't remember us at all, and began at the beginning and retaught us everything we had already learned, despite us telling him we already learned it with him, and in fact with others at other studios. I was hoping as his wife was watching, she would intervene and redirect him, but neither time did she do anything to improve the situation. At the end of our "lesson" Caleb sat us down to lecture us about the importance of continuing to do dance lessons "for our marriage" and then was super pushy when we told him we weren't going to buy a package from him. Overall, the experience was pretty dismal. I don't know if things would have been much improved with Rusina, but after having two of these types of "lessons" with Caleb, there is 0% chance of us returning here. In fact, we will go out of our way and drive to a much farther studio so that we do not have to have this experience here again.
