It is fantastic for both recreational students as well as for preparing the more serious dancers for competition, college dance teams, and professional dancing. The studio is clean and pretty and in a convenient location off Rt 1& 138 at the Tower (aka near smoothies and donuts lol), and honestly, it's worth our 25 minute drive from our town. Parents are able to watch their kids through the viewing window in each of the two studios, or just sit and chill during class on the comfy couch, chat with other parents, or watch the sunset from the chairs on the quieter side, or they can feel safe leaving their children in the teachers' care while running errands. The Teachers are kind, fun, and loving, but also stern and get down to business when they need to be. They really know how to keep the fun and joy in dancing. Val has a way of making each kid feel special and each parent feel like her best friend. And the recitals.... Just wow! They put on such an amazing performance, and a video copy of the show and professional action digital photos are included with your ticket!! I am in awe at the high skill level, perfection, beauty, and sass of all numbers, but especially the older dancers and the teams. I have been moved to tears or clapped and cheered in excitement with so many numbers. My youngest and I usually even stay to watch to second showtime to see all of the other routines because we love it so much and have so much fun at the shows. So impressed with Val and her studio; can't recommend it enough.

We found Dance Expressions through a local group we are apart of and this girl of mine is LOVING it. Ms Lauren is her instructor and she has the patience of a saint with these littles. Ms Shannon communicates well with the parents and keeps everyone in the loop! If I could change anything though it would be to make the lobby a bit larger so we can see them practicing with a few more seats. I'm not too comfortable just dropping my (five year old) babe quite yet. I'm glad we chose DE- they are super affordable and are always doing things to help bring down costs! #fundraising

Despite being in the college hub, I don't think URI kids make up the majority of the students at Bend. I will make the journey to South County for Nicole Defelice & Isabella Sanderson, two instructors who teach regularly at Bend. Both primarily teach power vinyasa. Both play excellent music in the studio when they're teaching. Both are so joyful, challenging, & fun. Both are 2 of the best yoga instructors I've ever had the pleasure of practicing with. Nicole is a biologist & frequently weaves animal themes into her classes. She knows exactly how to explain micro-adjustments & motions that make the practice more accessible & enjoyable. I've unlocked advanced poses & maintained difficult arm balances thanks to Nicole's instructions. Isabella might be a sadist, but I say that in the most complimentary way possible. Her classes can be incredibly grueling, but if you stick with it, your endurance, strength, flexibility, & balance will improve immensely. Both Nicole & Isabella are the kinds of instructors you hope you're lucky enough to come across once in your lifetime. Somehow, Bend has secured them both. They're precious cargo. They also probably deserve a raise. Thank you, Nicole & Isabella, for nurturing my practice for years now. I never would've become the yogi I am now without the two of you. A note for the owner - I love the updates you've made to the studio over the last few years. My only humble suggestion is to put different lighting in the lobby/common areas. The fluorescents are painful.

The classes that he holds are simple and easy to do for children of all ages. The classes concentrate on children younger than five but includes family members so that interaction is intimate and comfortable within his circle of music. He provides simple musical instruments for the children and accompanies on guitar encouraging children and adults to move, sing and play. The more that you interact with him the better the class gets. He teaches not only music but basic social skills such as sharing, cleaning up after yourself, politeness, and trust. The classes are such that you can attend one and feel included but people are encouraged to come back repeatedly and some families have been taking their kids there over and over again. It's a play group especially for kids to relax, have fun, spend quality time with their parents, or any family member. There are two locations where the classes meet. A Class location in PORTSMOUTH, RI at Elite Academy (formerly known as "Steppin Out Studios") 35 Dyer St. (off of Sprague St.) and A Class location in NEWPORT, RI at St. Paul's Methodist Church - 12 Marlborough St. (downtown Newport) I've taken my niece to the second location a few times. She's a special needs child that has a difficult time socializing. She really responds to Mister Christopher (that is what he has the children call him in class). He is very patient with all the children even kids that other parents may not know how to handle. I have a lot of respect for him as he has a CD of his own songs so you can practice dancing and singing at home with your kids. He also has the kids take home simple homework. Nothing too strenuous but an excellent way to have your children grow up with the expectation that you take work in your classroom and apply it at home. I have to add that when I first attended class with my niece I was a skeptical of Mister Christopher's methods. The classes seemed very childish. After attending it again and paying attention to his process and watching the other kids and my niece's reaction I was really impressed with him and the classes. He's very polite, engaging and easy to talk to. The class is suppose to be child like to capture your child's interest and make them comfortable so they can follow directions. When you first come to any class you and your child take off your shoes. So wear socks. Be prepared to pick your child up if they are very shy and have them dance with you if they can't (or won't) dance by themselves. Ask questions if you don't understand why Mister Christopher is doing something or if you can't hear. It can get noisy with the instruments at times but it's not all banging on drums or tambourines. Most of all relax and let Mister Christopher guide you through the class. Your child will really benefit from this class and Mister Christopher's attitude.

She'd love ballet most of all, I am sure, but we can't make the Saturday morning time slot. There is a recital each spring and each age group preps all year for it. There are two physical studios in the same little strip mall. All the teachers are so friendly and competent. Looking forward to more.

The staff members are all incredibly talented and professional and very dedicated to student growth and development. One thing that we've found here is that the teachers offer very individualized attention to each student, meeting them wherever they are in their dance journey and helping them grow and thrive. They work very hard in their classes, but make dance SO much fun that my kids (ages 7-13) can't wait to go, and often are there 5-6 days a week.
