I LOVE THIS DANCE STUDIO!…read more This is my 5th year going here, and I'm glad I spend two days a week taking classes, that are soo much fun. The dance teachers always know what they are doing and are so nice. I joined company and I am now participating in competitions. I have made so many friends here and I am not planing on leaving. - Casey

What a…read moredifference one year makes with the right instructors who care about technique, form and presence. Dance, particularly ballet is an art form...most schools add ballet as part of a roster of dance choices. However Progressive is committed to teaching ballet the right way. My daughter is now 7 and when she walks into that studio, she is poised, focused and ready. She enjoys it, knows what is expected of her and likes all her teachers and adores Ms. Jolene. As for the owner, Jolene, she remains approachable, friendly and committed to keeping the students happy and learning. I look forward to our daughter's progression and really happy our daughter has a place there!

Was surprised at the poor reviews for this dance center, but then I realized that the most recent…read morereview was from 2019. This is my daughter's third year at this dance school. Her class is a weekly 1 hour ballet/tap class. As a parent you can watch the entire class behind mirrored glass. My daughter loves it and follows all of the choreography. The teachers are amazing. There are three teachers for a class of about 15. The kids definitely get individualized attention. The dance center puts on a two hour long show at the end of the year in a local high school auditorium. The day is a bit hectic but the show is well done and gives your child a chance to show off their accomplishments. If your child is in the youngest "twinkling twos" class you get to go first and then can just leave. I've never seen, met or interacted with Mr. Rocco.

I hoped the office staff would assist in figuring out who might have "inadvertently" taken the slipper, but despite there being multiple cameras, there was no discovery, nor any attempt to replace the slipper. * Weeks later, I decided I had enough and pulled my daughter out of the school after several parents proved very adamant and insistent on taking what I thought were too many pictures and videos of the class in session. Quite disturbing, in my opinion; and unfortunately the staff did not really back me up. That was too much of an uncomfortable feeling for me to stomach. Some parents even had to nerve to literally say they "do not care" when I voiced my privacy concerns. That just spoke volume as to the kind of some parents that go there. I compare that to other dance studios that strictly forbid photos. I just rather not risk any perverts recording and / or sharing or posting photos of my young child via the World Wide Web or social media.

This place is simply fantastic. I was never before interested in ballroom dancing (and didn't even…read moreknow that's what they are doing on Dancing With the Stars) and I've never felt comfortable dancing. We started coming here when they opened in 2017 mostly because my wife wanted to. But it is impossible not to be won over by the place. The franchise owners Thomas and Fransiska, are champion dancers themselves and as mesmerizing to watch as anyone on DWtS. They are incredibly warm and welcoming and are constantly creating parties, showcases, and events to make it fun. We take most of our lessons with Klaudia who is amazingly energetic, knowledgeable, fun, and a perfect teacher who always knows just what to say to help us get better. She is a pure delight. Arthur Murray has a well-established structured curriculum with about a dozen levels (the highest being practically like a professional dancer) which requires specific steps and techniques to be mastered before graduating to the next level. It amazes me, but they can actually teach people to dance--not just the steps, but all the moves. We actually look like dancers now. The arrangement is more like belonging to a club. You pay for weekly individual lessons but are free to attend group lessons, which are offered 6 times a week. In addition, they host twice-weekly evening "practice parties" where they dim the lights and play 2-minute clips of all the different dances for everyone to dance their steps and just have fun. My wife can't get enough; she is at the studio 6 times a week. If you have any inclination to learn to dance, there will never be a better opportunity to do it than Arthur Murray Tenafly.

I don't really know how to dance, but I learned some very basic Salsa and Merengue at this studio,…read morewhich I have enthusiastically used for the past nine years with great success. Seriously, this is no small achievement, as I have a typical fear of looking stupid on the dance floor. After learning how to move, and direct a partner, I can confidently pair up with my Wife and enjoy the music completely. The studio spaces are beautiful, very large and partitioned during the week, and fully open during competitions and the weekend socials. Socials here are a great way to meet new people and practice among people who are at your level, and even beyond your level. Everyone is friendly and pleasant, and it's the safest venue for you to practice what you've learned. We initially took group lessons at some ridiculously low rate. They have three tracks for Salsa/ Latin dance, and we took all three tracks in order. I would say that's 18 weeks of practice, and we got much better. My Wife already knew how to move, so this was in essence remedial instruction for me and partnering lessons for us both. You do not stay with one partner, so you are forced to call up adaptability early, which is a good learning principle. The instructors were very warm, friendly, knowledgeable individuals who put you at ease; in only one case did I ever see another student get visibly frustrated by the lesson, so 36 trips and only one bad day is remarkable. The private lessons, which are extremely worthwhile if you are far below your nominal partner's level of expertise, are affordable and a tremendous asset. You get better, quicker, and the one-on-one instruction is always better than a group class for working on your specific deficiencies. So, to wrap up, great venue, great people, affordable lessons, and a real sleeper hit with the Friday night socials. In all, this is the dance studio I would recommend to anyone with the means to get there. Top-notch. -C

I have nothing bad to say about this place. I really don't…read more Compared to other dance studios, there aren't really any "hidden expenses" when you go to dance at this studio. The lessons cost what they cost, and if anything additional costs more they're the first to tell you immediately. From a business standpoint this is how other dance studios should strive to be like. Let your reputation precede you (this place is run by a great family), value your clients, and slowly but surely they'll come streaming in... and stay! The only reason why I don't dance here myself is that I use a private instructor in the local area. We do use this studio often though, as they have tons of floor rental space. Group lessons can be mixed here though. The ones that are filled are wonderful. They're taught by instructors that like to push people. If you get with a group of people that is just there to mess around though, this can be a somewhat miserable experience, much like anything, Private lessons here are great, though. The instructors have decades of experience in teaching and know exactly how to simplify and layer according to the student's abilities. If you're new to dance and want to learn? Go here. No exceptions that they are the undisputed king of the area. Most ballroom dancers would agree with this.

I would recommend anyone thinking about enrolling your child at this studio to stay far away. We…read morehad taken our girls there prior to covid and that ownership unfortunately sold to a new owner and to put it simply she is not up to task. There was specific incident that occurred in a class that was handled the wrong way. The adult instructor allowed and indicated to the only two girls "one being my daughter and the other a friend" in the class that they did not have to wear a mask which I am actually fine with considering it is only two girls and an instructor in a large studio. The issue is that the owner decided give a little talk to the children who were instructed by the dance teacher that removal of the mask is okay. So without finding out about whether or not the students decided to not wear a mask or were told not to by the adult she just assumed they took it upon themselves to remove the masks. The owner then decided to lecture me at pick up time about the mask policy. I had one simple question as to who allowed them to remove the mask and the owner only responded with "it is the studio's policy to wear masks in class," which is fine but than why are instructors telling kids to take the mask off if they want? Again, I could care less about the mask on or off. More concerned about the lack of management understanding a situation and placing blame on an 8 and 9 year old. And the icing on the cake is to than come out and lecture the parent. The other issue that day is that my daughter had come in the wrong attire "gray stretch pants instead of black and her hair was not tied up as required." My daughter takes some of the blame if not all because she should know and was told as such by me after the fact. As her dad I was not on the up and up about the strict dance gallery attire I assumed she would know and follow rules. The same day incident was handled again oddly by ownership sending a stern email to Parents in addition to a talking to after class. Quiet frankly the studio is not the same and enrollment is very weak due to obvious reasons. We had been charged 1100 dollars on Nov 22nd 2021 and this took place Nov 30th one week later. I told the owner that day my daughters are no longer coming here and I want a refund. Keep in mind the 1100 dollar charge is for December through feb 2022. So maybe this class counted towards 1100 dollar charge . If so one class used out of 1100 dollars. Dance gallery is refusing to give a refund. The owner of the studio is basically only concerned about money and I want people to be aware of that fact before you enroll your child or children like We had done. We tried to give this dance studio a chance considering the long standing relationship we had prior to the new owner but she is just not a good person and focused only on her bottom line. If I could give no stars I would. If some had paid in full for services not rendered yet and wanted a refund because they decided it was not the right fit at my business- guess what I do the right thing and refund over a thousand dollar to the client. The fact is this owner is desperate for money or just greedy.
