This is the school for you if you are looking for high level dance training and a community of kind…read moreand respectful people. The level of technique and artistry is very impressive. The quality of training is recognized and appreciated in the professional dance world. The love, the care and personal attention that all the students receive is commendable. If you are looking for a non competitive environment and friends for life for your child, note that the school has a zero tolerance on negative competition and gossips (parents and or students). The Director and faculty members are dedicated and extremely generous with their time and knowledge. The performances are a delight ! A class ACT!

AVOID THE ADULT BALLET CLASS !!!…read more I was excited to find a ballet studio that offers adult classes in my area. The teacher Dieter Riesle told me that I could come for a trial class free of charge and added that "if you have had gymnastics, other dance forms, yoga or acrobatics prior, you may be able to work yourself into this level". As a 27-year-old former professional athlete who now does yoga and barre on the regular basis, it sounded as I would be able to do it. I came at 10am as the manager Hans-Jakob told me to, but it turned out the classes started at 10:30am. No problem! I waited. At 10:30am Dieter asked me how I was going to pay: cash or check. I said that he mentioned this first class being free so I didn't bring any cash/checks. He told me: oh, then you should SIT AND WATCH TODAY because "I don't want you to hurt yourself"!!! WHAT?!! So 5 seconds ago when you thought I was paying, you were not afraid that I would hurt myself?? The class consisted of older ladies, with one of them not even being able to walk straight anymore due to her old age! I told him that I took some ballet classes in Russia and I am an athlete in general. He did not care! He kept saying I would not be able to keep up with those older women. Wow, they must be retired from Bolshoi Ballet! I left the studio shocked and disgusted.

Unless you pay big bucks for private lessons and multiple classes, you won't be looked at as a dancer. My instructor gave me feedback while texting most of the class that I am paying good money for. When drama happens at the dance school, they take it out on the students. A situation happened where end result was that the 2 adult dancers, myself included, representing the school at a major competition, not 1 teacher or family of the teachers would come to watch and support us. It's highly unprofessional and made my decision at regionals to transfer schools. School keeps losing students, you get reprimanded if you post something negative on social media thats not in the favor of the school, even though you are no longer affiliated with them. It's sad. Please go elsewhere where you are treated better! Take your money elsewhere where they don't have mandatory workshops hours on end that are additional cost.

I attended the grand opening event at The McGough Academy on Saturday (as a guest of a friend)…read more While I must admit I know nothing about Irish dance, the studio was very impressive - 2 extremely large dance rooms with modern equiptment/hardwood floors, etc., and also a waiting/guest area and office. It's also located in the heart of the Irish district in Yonkers. While there, I had an opportunity to meet the owner/instructor, Meagan. She was so sweet and obviously a very esteemed dancer (a professional dancer that competes worldwide and is TCRG certified). I also caught a few performances she gave during the grand opening and I was truly impressed. Lessons also seem to be very very reasonable, especially compared to NYC prices which are 4x the amount!
