Westchester Yoga Arts is a hidden gem in downtown New Rochelle! Located conveniently next to my apartment, WYA has every kind of class I could ever need, and class sizes are smaller than in Manhattan so there is more individualized attention (and space to move!). Not to mention, this studio is way more affordable! The space is very clean, but be warned there are no changing rooms (just 2 private bathrooms). WYA has a wide variety of different yoga classes (core classes, gentle classes, classes for beginners, classes for more advanced folk) and zumba/belly dance classes to boot. Zumba is one of my favorite classes at this studio- it's a fantastic workout! All the instructors (for zumba and yoga) are super friendly, helpful, and are there to answer all questions. The studio has a very "family oriented" atmosphere among the staff and clients, and most of the instructors will remember your name. What I also enjoy about this studio, is that there are opportunities to advance in your practice. The yoga classes here take you step by step through head and hand stands and show you proper set up and form for learning more advanced moves. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for something in New Rochelle.

I haven't found a class I don't like and there are many more instructors! My favorites so far are Yoga for a Healthy Back with Faith, Open Level and Vinyasa Core with Matt and Dina. I'm looking forward to trying the other classes. Every staff member I've met so far, whether through class or front desk, have been incredibly friendly and helpful. The members here are great too! My only qualm is that there aren't markers on the floor to indicate where to put mats. So when a class is packed yogis are scattered about and the space isn't maximized.

The quality of training is recognized and appreciated in the professional dance world. The love, the care and personal attention that all the students receive is commendable. If you are looking for a non competitive environment and friends for life for your child, note that the school has a zero tolerance on negative competition and gossips (parents and or students). The Director and faculty members are dedicated and extremely generous with their time and knowledge. The performances are a delight ! A class ACT!

AVOID THE ADULT BALLET CLASS !!!…read more I was excited to find a ballet studio that offers adult classes in my area. The teacher Dieter Riesle told me that I could come for a trial class free of charge and added that "if you have had gymnastics, other dance forms, yoga or acrobatics prior, you may be able to work yourself into this level". As a 27-year-old former professional athlete who now does yoga and barre on the regular basis, it sounded as I would be able to do it. I came at 10am as the manager Hans-Jakob told me to, but it turned out the classes started at 10:30am. No problem! I waited. At 10:30am Dieter asked me how I was going to pay: cash or check. I said that he mentioned this first class being free so I didn't bring any cash/checks. He told me: oh, then you should SIT AND WATCH TODAY because "I don't want you to hurt yourself"!!! WHAT?!! So 5 seconds ago when you thought I was paying, you were not afraid that I would hurt myself?? The class consisted of older ladies, with one of them not even being able to walk straight anymore due to her old age! I told him that I took some ballet classes in Russia and I am an athlete in general. He did not care! He kept saying I would not be able to keep up with those older women. Wow, they must be retired from Bolshoi Ballet! I left the studio shocked and disgusted.

Due to the pandemic, 2020 auditions for 4th grade prospects were canceled. They sent out notices for video auditions for 2021. Fine, we made the video audition and crossed our fingers. Keep in mind that now it would be for 5th grade. A month after submission we got a call that they liked the video and she got an in-person callback. Now im thinking, this is good, after the callback we will know. Also, there were only 10 students called back (mind you later I realized that they actually held these individual callbacks daily/weekly all Spring long!) I felt confident for my daughter, her dance instructors were confident too. After the callback audition they didn't let anyone know right away, they actually let us know that she didn't get in more than a month later! Im not mad that she didn't get in, im angry that they literally made this process from start to finish, over 3 months. Because of this, we missed all the summer intensives deadlines (if she got in, she had to do their summer program). My theory is that in order for them to justify their paychecks during virtual learning, they had to create all these auditions/callbacks to seem busy since they get paid differently than DOE. They had no spots, and definitely not enough for all those hopeful students. Their 4th grade class from last year already had filled that class. Not cool to feed on the hopes and dreams of young dancers.
