I had a wonderful evening at the David Koch Theater, home of the New York City Ballet! Comfortable seats, a bit narrow -- I had to deal with the fellow next to me spilling over into my space -- but good legroom! Great acoustics, good vantage wherever you sit. The program, none of which I was familiar with, was beautiful. Each of the three ballets so different in dance, music, set and costume. There are parking garages in the area and accessible public transportation. My bus stop is just around the corner and the subway (I think it's the westside IRT) outside Lincoln Center. If you're hungry, P.J. Clarke's and Rosa Mexicana are a block away.

Unlike myself, it has gone through renovations over the years through donations and the biggest of $100M was by the current namesake. The theater is traditionally arranged with a large orchestra seating area, 5 tiered ring balconies and a large orchestra pit in front of the stage. The promenade at the first tier level is gorgeous with a wide open rotunda and marble floors. The hanging sculptures on the stairs and on the rotunda floor are pretty impressive. The inside of the auditorium itself was equally impressive. We had a great view from our from our roomy seats in row K of the orchestra. We had seen a performance of the King and I here a few years ago, but for this recent attendance, we saw the China Ningbo Performance & Arts rendition of "Mulan" that was a limited weekend engagement of 4 performances. This was totally unlike the Americanized Disney animated film of the ancient Chinese legend. The interpretive dance choreography conveyed the story without dialogue and screens on the sides of the stage gave poetic narration before each act. I always marvel at the stage mechanics and lighting. The rotating floor panels and off stage floodlights added to the drama of the performance. The David H. Koch theater is definitely an experience in itself. I hope to see many new performances there in the future.

Trying to find an absolute beginner ballet class for adults in Queens was not an easy find but the class offered here became my favorite, thanks to Kerry. I started taking ballet in January 2024 at Dance Matters with Kerry and after a few months began taking classes at multiple studios, as well. If I had not taken Kerry's class first, I'm not sure that I would have continued taking ballet classes at all. I believe it is Kerry's teaching style that hooked me into taking ballet class multiple times a week and I look forward to her classes the most. I began not only completely new to ballet (other than some classes I did when I was 4/5 years old) but new to dance, in general, too. Kerry is a fantastic teacher and seems like it comes naturally to her because she is just SO GOOD at teaching and explaining. She surveys members of the class on their ballet and dance background so she can tailor each class to best fit the attendees levels. Kerry is very encouraging and her "dancer's choice" when doing combos creates such a refreshing atmosphere because it takes the pressure off of trying to do moves that I'm not ready for yet without feeling like I'm messing up or am straggling behind in class. Kerry breaks everything down from how to stand, how to hold your arms, and moves within a combo itself, to name a few examples. I really appreciate that in class when we learn a combo going across the floor going in one direction, Kerry will also have us mark it going in the opposite direction. I find it tricky to just reverse the combo automatically without some practice and I've noticed taking that extra time to mark it is not something that all teachers do. I also really appreciate that Kerry will do the combos with participants who don't have it down pat as it helps takes some of the stage fright away. Kerry's absolute beginner class is the best one I have found and I loveee her beginner level class, too where you can expect the same level of attention and quality!

I took some private lessons with Anna and she was extremely patient and helpful in teaching me the basics of most of the styles of ballroom/latin. She was so much fun to learn from and talk to, and provided great humor throughout our lessons. My confidence on the dance floor has increased tremendously thanks to her! Meredith the manager is also fantastic - she made me feel welcome from the first moment I stepped into this studio. Despite coming in a little late for a salsa group lesson, she immediately accommodated me and taught me the salsa footwork before letting me join the class, so I would be all caught up! I sat in the center, second row and was definitely worth it to purchase these tickets but if you purchase other seats towards the back, I don't think you could get a terrible seat here. The stage is smaller and you would be able to see well. I read some of the other reviews on Yelp and I could see what they were writing. My experience was great. I was a little disappointed because I really thought I would see some more professional swing dancing (my partner was very disappointed about this). Needless to say, the performers had beautiful voices, story line was well done, and set looked really nice. The live music was an added bonus. I think I went to the opening night or SWING and defintelynsome time to purrrrrrfect some of the scenes but all in all, it can only get better! I enjoyed it!! The play was three hours with a 10 minute intermission between.

After all my years in NYC, this was one of the only theaters I had never been in. Originally opened in 1900 as a Broadway Theater, after years of disrepair and operating as a movie theater, it was renovated from top to bottom and reopened as an Off Broadway Theater for children in 1995. We came this past weekend and took my 7 year old nephew. The theater is beautiful. They have reduced the seating capacity by nearly half to 499 so it is an intimate experience despite there being 3 levels. Excellent views from all areas. The lower level had plenty of restrooms, an area where kids were doing arts and crafts, snacks for sale, lockers, and even a quiet area to read. We saw Baba Yaga and the Firebird. It might have been a little much for my nephew who just turned 7. This was his first experience in a big theater and he did get a little restless. Most of the kids in attendance enjoyed the show. They have a very diverse lineup of shows they present all year so it's worth checking out. Plus tickets were really affordable - $24 with fees per person for the mezzanine (which only had 5 rows so a great view).

The performance was outstanding. The New Victory theater small and intimate. The process to get in was seamless and they had sufficient staff to accommodate the crowds. The seats were comfortable and you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of your neighbor. The theater is in an excellent location with tons of public transportation at your footstep. I will definitely check out some other events at this theater.

Think this is my second time here? Pretty sure I saw JaJa's African Hair Braiding play here too…read more Anyways I came to the first preview of School Girls and it was a 10/10. I loved the cast and more importantly the plot of the play. Will not give it away but it was truly so enjoyable and touched on many good topics. Seating here is comfy, can't imagine that there is a bad seat in the house and the stage is big and theater is on the intimate side. Bathrooms were clean too. Didn't visit the concessions so can't speak on that.
