Was surprised at the poor reviews for this dance center, but then I realized that the most recent review was from 2019. This is my daughter's third year at this dance school. Her class is a weekly 1 hour ballet/tap class. As a parent you can watch the entire class behind mirrored glass. My daughter loves it and follows all of the choreography. The teachers are amazing. There are three teachers for a class of about 15. The kids definitely get individualized attention. The dance center puts on a two hour long show at the end of the year in a local high school auditorium. The day is a bit hectic but the show is well done and gives your child a chance to show off their accomplishments. If your child is in the youngest "twinkling twos" class you get to go first and then can just leave. I've never seen, met or interacted with Mr. Rocco. read more

Someone (or their wandering child) took one of my daughter's ballet slippers from out of our bag back in January 2018, which I admit I left unattended while going to the bathroom. I hoped the office staff would assist in figuring out who might have "inadvertently" taken the slipper, but despite there being multiple cameras, there was no discovery, nor any attempt to replace the slipper. * Weeks later, I decided I had enough and pulled my daughter out of the school after several parents proved very adamant and insistent on taking what I thought were too many pictures and videos of the class in session. Quite disturbing, in my opinion; and unfortunately the staff did not really back me up. That was too much of an uncomfortable feeling for me to stomach. Some parents even had to nerve to literally say they "do not care" when I voiced my privacy concerns. That just spoke volume as to the kind of some parents that go there. I compare that to other dance studios that strictly forbid photos. I just rather not risk any perverts recording and / or sharing or posting photos of my young child via the World Wide Web or social media. read more

My daughter dances here every Saturday with other 2 year olds and adores it. The teacher is enthusiastic and fun and my daughter LOVES going to dance class. I appreciate the teachers patience and love. read more

The Owner/Dance Instructor, Was very helpful with getting my granddaughter into some of the classes she wants to do. She is 4 1/2 yrs old and all she talks about is being a ballerina. My daughter just finished a year of twinkling twos'...we loved it. We would wake up early on Saturdays and attend the 8:45 class...its early but worth it. It was worse to be in a later class since parking on the center is limited. Overall A+...signing her up next year! read more

As a live-event videographer, my work gives me a ticket to dozens of dance recitals throughout the Tri-State area. Broadway Bound's professionalism and attention to detail continues to shine year after year. Everything from the dynamic lighting effects to the lovely costumes elevates the show and assuredly helps the students feel part of something beautiful and professional. It's also clear the studio emphasizes technique in their dance education. As a former dancer, I find this emphasis encouraging as technique is such an essential backbone in all areas of dance (even hip-hop, a style Broadway Bound embraces with gusto!). I love this school. The teachers are top notch. The staff is very courteous and the owner, "Mr Rocco," genuinely cares for the kids. Although my involvement there was years past, I have watched them grow to being Bergen County's best. And they gave a great facility now. They must be doing something very right. The size, scope and quality of their yearly June recital (which I went back to catch a year ago) alone defies any sense of logic. My two daughters, nephew and 2 nieces go to Broadway Bound. Both girls have gone there for 5 years. They bragged about it to their cousins, then, even my nephew decided to try the free class ! He loves the class that concentrates on Rap and Hip Hop dances. The teacher talented, great with the kids, and committed to bringing out their talents. I explained to him that dance teaches great coordination and will help him with his sports. One of my girls takes the Rap class, the other loves the Jazz/Ballet, which is the same as her cousins. It's great exercise and is surely much better for him than being glued to a phone or computer screen! The kids have made friends and while waiting of them, it's a super networking atmosphere with the other parents. They look forward to the end of year show, which to my amazement and "jaded" mind at times was spectacular! Seeing my kids on stage are memories that are, yeah, priceless! It's a way to see my brother at least once a week when our kids are there and, we have started to car pool it as we live close to each other. The dance studio is beautiful, clean, and gives a very safe feeling for my family. The staff seems to be always ready to help and very friendly. I have my own business. It's rough out there. I really appreciate feed back especially the positive kind, so when I have great experience, it's only fitting I share it. This studio is fabulous. Mr. Rocco and his staff have instilled and showed my little one (3 years old) a passion for dance. Your attention to detail and constant reinforcement of directions and skills is impeccable. They are teaching their students valuable lessons they will need for the rest of their lives. I can already see my girl improving with just 3 classes. Plus her desire to practice and excitement for classes is something a parent could only dream of seeing in their child. read more

I've been going to their recitals since my family members were 3. They are now 8. The dances are the same every year, just with different costumes and different music. The studio is fine. Parking is horrible, owner is rude and impossible to work with. Only reason to go here is because the teachers are amazing. Avoid having a class taught by owner, he isn't good with kids from my experience. Jan. 2014 I was shopping for a dance class for my then 3.5 year old. I must have called 3 other dance schools before Broadway Bound (simply because of how Google returned my search results) and was told that the students had already been working on their recital routines and that my daughter would be lost. That it was too late for her to start. I couldn't understand how complicated a routine for 3.5 year olds could be .... but since I am definitely not an expert ... I thanked them and moved onto the next # on my list. When I called BB - I was greeted by a very enthusiastic and energetic woman who encouraged me to try a trial class and said that although there was going to be a recital that it wouldn't be a problem. That my little girl would LOVE the class and would catch up quickly. So we tried the class and my kid was shy/scared but the teacher (Ms. Shannon) was amazing - she is patient and encouraging and before long my child was having a blast in her class. Fast forward to the June performance ..... I really didn't know what to expect .... would my little girl have stage fright? Would she get lost among all those people on the day of the performance? Would the 2+ hour show be boring (except of course for my child's number)? Well .... I was blown away. I couldn't believe how organized everything was and every performance (and there were a lot) was very impressive. The older kids really were amazing and the show moved quickly - it wasn't boring at all. If my daughter had stage fright - I didn't see it at all. She sat with her classmates (away from Mommy) for the entire show watching the older kids performed. When it was her turn, she marched right up on stage with her class and they did their number. Most importantly, she had such a good time. After the show she was exhausted but before she fell asleep on our way back home she said .... "Mommy I had so much fun at the big place and dancing with Ms. Shannon! I like my blue dress". It was honestly amazing to see my little girl be part of something so big and beautiful. I've been going to Broadway Bound for the past 16 years. I had been a dancer since I was a young girl and once I had my daughter I wanted to do something that I knew made me happy. I lived in Dumont and had heard how wonderful Broadway Bound was so I decided to take the adult dance class and started up dancing again. In all my years dancing I had never met someone with more passion and love for his students than Rocco. Whenever I went there I forgot temporarily I was a mom a wife an employee etc...the only person I was..was a dancer! 16 years later Rocco and the rest of the staff have as much energy and passion as they did back then. Extremely disappointed I withdrew my daughter after she tried a few classes and wasn't enjoying, when I enrolled her I was told if she doesn't like I would get refunded that money . When refund came it wasn't as expected and was told that's not the policy we make you pay upfront for May and June and don't give back payment for June. I have been watching recitals and competitions of broadway bound dance school way back from 2005. 4 of my cousins and their friends went to this dance school from toddler to highschool. Im very close to my cousins I have watched them in the studio, their regular recitals and their competitions. I have seen the teachers and mr. roccos passion for dance and teaching kids. This school is not an ordinary dance school, I would describe their approach like they are a Montessori of dance school. I was not surprised at all when I saw when I moved to the same town in 2015 how far they have been and still standing and even more awesome. the staff are courteous and very professional. the costume may be more expensive than other schools but they are top quality. the tuition fee is fair because the teachers are top notch in skills and approach with the kids. My friends kids go to other dance schools that are not close to broadway bound's quality, but they are paying more tuition fee. Rude staff and shows! We were invited to a show yesterday to see my niece dance and I witnessed two very unfortunate events. First, we were seated on the balcony next to some of the little girl dancers. Before the show even started, a woman who looked like an older grandmother came up to one of the chaperones to talk to to her and the staff member very rudely and loudly told her to move. I was very taken aback by this staff member's harsh attitude and tone. She was borderline belligerent. Another man wanted to take a picture of his granddaughter and was treated in the same manner. I understand if you want to keep dancers and audience separate for safety reasons but this staff person was just plain rude! I would not want her representing my company. Secondly, no one was showing people to their seats! I went to use the restroom during the show and when I returned to the auditorium I had to help a woman find her seat. The staff member just stood there. Needless to say I will NOT be sending my child to this dance school next year. read more

i have been searching and searching to find an engaging place for my 5 year old twin boys to learn to dance. they took a kiddie hop class last week at broadway bound dance center in dumont, new jersey and loved it! it was fun and they can't wait to go back again. i was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism of both the teaching and office staff. i am definitely signing them up for the fall! read more

Mr Rocco. Mr Rocco. Mr. Rocco. So I had heard a few rumblings that the owner of Broadway Bound was a bit of a tyrant and not to take away from anyone's personal experience but as I searched high and low for a special needs dance class for my seven year old son who is on the autistic spectrum the only company that kept coming up was Mr. Rocco's Broadway Bound. Thankfully I decided to give him a chance. I wondered how bad could he be, seeing that he was the only person in the Bergen County area who cared enough and had the patience and heart enough to begin and run a special needs dance class. After meeting with him I was instantly hooked on his positive vibe and bigger than life personality. Started to think maybe his dancer sass, attention to detail and assertiveness in regards to his passion and his business were mistaken for a bad attitude. Mr. Rocco and his teaching assistants, who like his class vary in age are all dedicated and passionate as well. Each one of the instructors really tuning not only to a child's needs but a special needs child's needs. It is really not only a joy to see my son participate with his peers in a non judgmental encouraging environment but it is such a relief to see the pure joy and understanding Mr. Rocco shares on such an intimate basis with each student making sure he works the room and gives each student the direct contact and guidance they need. I don't know what Mr. Rocco's personal journey has been with special needs or if there has even been one but the way he commands the class and engages each child's personality is incredible. I don't know if he has any formal training in special needs but i would be shocked if not. He knows all the little ques and seems to have a overloading bag of tricks for redirecting the behavior back to the task at hand. In one session some of the children were a little unruly leading to a domino effect Mr. Rocco quickly switch gears from the lesson plan to do a little silly but still beneficial facial expression circle. kids making sad faces, angry and happy all to release and reorganize the group. The joy on the kids faces was delightful but the joy on Mr. Rocco's face to share in their accomplishments and expression was even more uplifting. Knowing exactly when a child needs a stern look or assistance to get back on task from a parent or just a little nudge from Mr. Rocco himself. He is a nonsense leader of the team which our children so desperately need. And then when they take the stage at their annual dance recital in shirts saying simply "Awesome" as a special treat from Mr. Rocco, the goal is to have fun and a new experience and just be themselves and a part of something. His message seems to be we all shine in our own way and he wants to make sure they have a platform to do that from. Very grateful read more
