He directed me to exactly the location in which aisle to proceeded to. I chuckled on my way out....imagining the instance. As I looked around @ the end of the aisle, back of the store... I heard a faint dinging, buzzing... didn't think anything of it... until the same greeted me employee appeared... "you can't be back here". That was the dinging! Letting them know someone had "trespassed". In my defense... it's not like I walked in to a roped off area or closed door! To me, a customer, it just looked like another aisle! I was standing in front of this aisle of snacks & a few shovels....thinking I could use my coupon for a shovel. Once the employee appeared, I had him give me a price for the shovel, I moved on. The coupon was $10 off $20... I found two $9.99 window plastics.... as I made my way to the register mentally trying to think of what I will find to put me at or above the needed $... Thank you! The cashier gave me a $10.79 total and I was on my way! Thank you Ace for the friendly service. You are my closest hardware store so I now know where is the employees only section to not cross in to. Cheers

We moved into our home (whattup, front and backyard!) 2.5years ago. As new homeowners, we were…read moreexcited to tell people how much we "worked" on our home together. But reality check: it was a new construction and all we really did was slap some cosmetic paint here some closet shelves there. But we couldn't have done it without having Home Depot so close and accessible. When I first went in, I was mortified to realize I don't even know how to paint a god damn wall. Do I need primer? What brand should I get? What finish is best? Am I a dum-dum? But the employees on the floor were super helpful and patient, bless their hearts. We've since been back through the years for supplies such as closet shelving units, miscellaneous hardware, lumber, and garden supplies. However, sometimes the service and assistance can be hit or miss. We've come across both extremely knowledgeable employees and super dismissive ones. But overall, we've always found what we were looking for. And so far our brand new house is still standing ;]

I rented a 4" wood chipper from the 99 Northtown Drive Homedepot. The employee that released the…read morechipper to me said it was a new machine and the blade had been replaced the day before. The chipper that was advertised on the website was a blue colored chipper with the inlet and outlet chutes inline with each other. The listing also advertised "Two double edge reversible hardened steel cutting blades." The chipper I received was orange in color, the inlet and outlet chutes were perpendicular to each other, and the cutting wheel only had a single blade on it. When I went to use the chipper, I had to feed the wood in by hand, if I did not push the wood into the blade the wood would simply "dance" inside the chute without getting chipped. I brought the chipper back and asked for a refund because the chipper was not doing its job. I spoke to an employee, Steve, and a manager, Adam, who explained that since I had the chipper for 7 of the 13 hour rental they could do nothing and I would get charged the full day rental. Steve asked Adam if the rental would at least get pro-rated or if there was something they could do, Adam indicated that they couldn't do anything because of the duration I had it, and they were already "over for the month." Adam did offer to discount any other purchases I needed to make so they would be free. I chose not to do anymore business at this store and do not plan to be back.

I had the most amazing customer experience this past week, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of…read moreSid. I needed to attach a new license plate to the front of my car, but the old screws and holder were rusted and no longer usable. I had made two separate trips to an automotive specialty store, where I was sold two different license plate kits, assured each time that they contained "everything" I needed. They did not, as my particular car model (which I'd disclosed to them) had a uniquely-sized fitting. I then went to Frattallone's Ace Hardware in Arden Hills, with my license plate and both kits in hand. Sid asked to come out to the parking lot to see my car. He took some measurements, and I followed him back into the store where he gathered some supplies. Instead of sending me on my way with a handful of nuts and bolts, Sid grabbed a power drill and said he wanted to make sure that what he was proposing would work. It did, and he ended up retrofitting the kits and securely attaching the license plate for me. The parts cost me $3.99, and he absolutely refused to take any extra compensation for his efforts. Sid went well above and beyond the call of duty. As a result, he's created a loyal Frattallone's customer for life!

Got up to the register to pay, they ran the charges through and I was about to leave the store when I did a quick math check and determined that I didn't get a discount for my biggest item. Went back to the register and was told that the bag of fertilizer I bought was "on sale" for $5 cheaper than the normal price and didn't qualify for any of he 20% discount. No sign that this was the case on either the discount flier or at the product display location in the store. Heading to Suburban Ace hardware next time.
