Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the services the humane society of yuma offers, but I think…read morethey are so unfortunately drowned and blindsided by the horrid state of unclaimed animals that they forget there are people out there who do love their animals. People who want to be there for their animals in their most vulnerable moments. I am writing this review on behalf of my mother, who took our beloved family cat to the humane society to be put to rest for their low cost services. We appreciate the humane society for offering these services, however we were appalled when she was told she could not hold our cat as he was put the sleep. Vets across the world all say the same thing, that euthanasia can be scary for your pet, and how devastating it is when pet parents don't want to be with their animal when they pass. The final thing they see and feel, is being in your arms or presence. The humane society of yuma does not care that the last thing your pet sees is a team of strangers giving them their lethal injection. They do not care for the owners who step up and want to hold their beloved pet for their final moments. It is their policy to not allow you to truly say goodbye. However, years ago, they had no problem forcing me into their surgical room to retrieve my non-aggressive but shy dog from a kennel, WHILE ACTIVELY PERFORMING STERILIZATION ON ANOTHER ANIMAL. But that's policy, right??? I hope that they improve this policy and if they are going to offer these low cost services, maybe have some compassion for those who do care for and love their pets. Side note that it ended up costing the same as if we had taken our cat to the actual vet, as they charged an additional $35 just to shove his post mortem paw in some clay for a keepsake. Should have just gone to the vet so he could be held for his final moments with multiple included keepsakes instead. Hindsight is 20/20.

Prices are comparable to other thrift stores I've visited in this area--especially with the current economic inflation. Staff is friendly and helpful. The store is clean. During this visit, the store had walkers, lamps, furniture, dishes/glassware, books, DVDs, crafts, bicycles, clothing, and so much more. They offer discount days and promotions. I found some bargains and will return.

The counselors & staff gave me tools to carry on the rest of my life outside the program. I feel I've grown a lot. It was a very humbling experience but, the fancy rehabs did not work for me. if you want sobriety and other places haven't worked for you, that are resort style..come here and it will change your life! It is hardcore and a homeless shelter, but they require everyone to be sober and want to change their lives. You have about 10 people bunked to your room at a time when they're busy, but if you're serious about getting recovered don't let anything stop you! The staff is amazing and so are the people you become friends with. One of my roomates I still talk to one this day. It teaches you to give back, and be grateful as well. They do outings also after you've been there a few weeks.. it is a 4 month program and they help get you on your feet, be independent, help get a job, write a resume, learn tools to stay sober, meetings, therapy, group classes, get you clothing, medicine from doctors if needed, etc. If you're donating here it's for a really great cause. The bad reviews are just people that are not appreciative of free services and entitled to be treated like gods lol Blows my mind the complaints on here, when they are not even paying for anything and getting everything free and shelter, food and off the streets for the night. Those people writing negative reviews should probably enroll themselves into the rehab part and learn to be grateful, and change their lives to get off the street instead of begging for money and complaining about everything.

You must register with them first, and then you should expect to give them 2 or 3 days notice to send someone to help you. I used their services once -- I was ill, and I care for my elderly mother, and I was not able to do the food shopping. We were running out of some basic food items. They sent out a very nice lady who went to the supermarket for me. If you need help -- if you are actually running out of food -- do not wait until you are desperate. Anticipate your needs and call in advance. I gave them 5 stars because they helped me through a difficult time and I am very appreciative.

Saddles of Joy's under new management and they're trying new things...which is good because the last person in charge (who recently retired) had terrible customer service. I get it, maybe they were just wiped out, but still...! Anyway, tonight was pretty nice. We brought our own blankets and chairs along with hot cocoa (coffee for me) and just chilled out. They're thinking of doing it like this once a month...I'm all for it. Recommended!
