I took my guitar in thinking the bridge or neck was needing attention. The luthier checked it out and showed me where the Arizona weather was taking the moisture out of the wood. He's an amazing luthier and for $40 solved my problem and sold me the product to rehydrate my guitar. This is my 2nd trip here and I am impressed! I've been playing for 50 plus years and a knowledgeable luthier is rare. He is a great man and works to make sure your needs are met with skill. ThanksSir!!! read more

In the market for a travel guitar decided to try Fretworks. My husband and I walked in and neither young men asked if we needed help. Just ignored us. Someone else walked in who they must of known and immediately was helped and friendly to that customer. Will not be going back, I guess they did not need my money. read more

Like the previous Yelp reviews from a few years ago, my initial visit was less than desirable. I walked in there, and the middle-aged lady behind the counter was cold and condescending. I had a bass that needed electronic work though. After that, any further visits were few and far between. Being one of the only music stores in Yuma (the other has since closed) doesn't give you a license to act like jerks. They must have retified that problem, because the last 3 or 4 times (including today) I went to visit, the staff didn't act that way at all. In fact, it was just the opposite. This is the way a music store (or any store) should act like; inviting. The selection of instruments (lots of Fenders) they have is impressive for a small store. I say this because I saw some decent left-handed guitars in there; as any left-hander knows that's sometimes a rarity. They also have the usual; amps violins, ukuleles, keyboards, drum sets, etc etc. As stated before, the staff has a friendly demeanor and they seem knowledgeable of things musical. I felt like I was home, musically. I would reccommend this store, not because it's the only one in Yuma, but because of the general friendliness of the staff. If they had stayed with the bad customer service, I'd say you're better off going to Phoenix or San Diego. read more

No , they haven't fixed the customer service problem yet. Of only 3 people in the store, I wandered around for a few minutes but was never asked if I needed help. It seems they were too busy on the phone about something that sounded like other than music but hey, finish your conversation. I'm looking for a certain neck style. What size are these frets on this Fender? I don't know, they are average size . I guess. I'm finding it hard to play my guitar, are there different size necks? She actually got a tape and measured it. The specs are on line ... They only carry one type of set up of Fender's Jumbo Tall Frets Not my cup of tea but ok.. Now the phone guy comes in with "Actually there are more than a hundred different types of fret wire." Well I wasn't interested in fret WIRE I'm not building my own, but I have before and No There are only a few types but rarely does one store carry more than 3 or 4 to 5 maybe.. Now he says well, you can have the custom made.... Wow. Really? I guess that's where the micrometer comes into play as the hundreds of kinds thing. It was obviously not there intention to help me decide which one was right for me. They wanted to TRY to prove they were smarter but They are NOT. They may have an impressive array of Fenders to the naked eye, but They are Fender Squier's , the lowest end of Fender AND they are ALL the same specs...so Seriously.....Do yourself a favor and go to Guitar Center in Phoenix or Grand Junction. I don't think I would even take lessons from the Jerk who was the supposed teacher. Your child will likely hear his unsolicited opinions and learn how to be rude, curt, improper and self important. read more

Had a couple of good experiences there. The people were helpful and polite. No complaints. They pointed me at the amps and said 'plug in to any one, give it a whirl.' I bought a bass and was told of the terms of purchase, them replacing anything not up to spec, that sort of thing. Because the bass is new to me I was recommended to an instructor whose prices were quite reasonable. Helpful information, good stuff. Three days later I decided I liked four strings and decided to trade up. Lisa was very helpful with ordering the exact PBass I wanted and called to let me know when it arrived. I went in just to look around and they have a great selection. When it came to customer service they were kinda rude. I did not feel welcome after telling about a place I had heard of for lessons being cheaper... Fret works is only the second place I've looked into for them. They do offer to order sheet music for you but I asked for three different pieces and wasn't able to get a one. I won't go back just cause how unwelcome I felt. read more

I dropped off my bass guitar for repair because my bass was putting a buzz in the PA system. I told the lady I wanted the buzz gone. She said it probably just needed to be cleaned and it should take a few days. They had my bass for two weeks! When they finally called, all they said was that it was ready. They didn't leave their hours of operation nor how much it was going to cost. I picked up my bass, and the lady charged me just for the cleaning. When I plugged in my bass the buzz was still there. They didn't provide me the service for which I asked, and they still charged me. They held my bass for 14 days on a job that should've taken a maximum of three days. read more

I was searching for a music store in Yuma a few weeks ago and all of the links on Yelp were closed businesses. So today i was driving around by the movie theater and just happen to see this place called Fretworks. I stopped and went in hoping it was really a guitar store. I wanted to buy a capo. I left with a brand new guitar. Great selection of Acoustic and Electric guitars. Also has drum kits. Fretworks is an oasis in the desert of Yuma providing a much needed service to anyone that enjoys playing an instrument. read more

So far, my experiences at Fretworks have been amazing. The staff has been very friendly and open to questions. My only issues are the hours, but I appreciate the fact that they provide their associates Sundays off. Anyways, being the only music store in Yuma, I recommend Fretworks to beginning musicians and professionals. read more

i been doin buisness with fretworks since they opened, ive always had great service and competitive prices . lisa, walter and isaiah have always been more than helpful and have tried to find what i need walter has done work on both guitars and amps always a good choice. althought lisa can be stern at times , like most of us buisness owners can be, shes always helped . as far as buzzing is concerned , like in the case of that fellow with the bass, it may not always be in the instrument as to the surrounding elements. it also has to do with the way or type of pickup it has , or maybe even the amp. many factors can cause some kind of interferance with an electrical instrument. so please andrew t, dont blame it on fretworks , maybe you should send it to, or contact the manufacturer. ronnie rubino sr. 51 years beatin the skins have a good day! read more
