If only there were an option to give it more than 5 stars. I popped in yesterday for an hour for a coffee and a muffin and to get some work done. The gals in line in front of me were trying to pay with debit, one of the staff got my order going while we waited. It seemed there was a problem with the machine. The debit was down. The girls didn't have any cash with them, neither did I. The nearest bank machine meant driving back into Inglewood. Oh dear. I've seen places shrug their shoulders at this and simply say "sorry, the debit isn't working" and leave it upto the customer to go find some cash and come back, or leave. The staff at Caffe Rosso on this day sent the two girls to go sit down and said they'd still bring them their lunch order and let them know if the debit came back online. They did the same for me with my coffee and muffin. An hour later, there was still no debit. The option? They printed out a receipt of what I ordered and asked me to come back again soon and settle up then. I offered to leave my name and number as well, I was told it wasn't necessary. You can bet I'm going back today to pay for that muffin and coffee... and that I'll be back again after this. Not many places take the "we'll serve you anyway and trust you'll come back and cover your tab" road. You rock Caffe Rosso.

First, SxF now is its own roaster and they take it SERIOUSLY, with many rare options and it's all carefully curated, and the staff knows its stuff. I love how your options are espresso and "espresso with milk" in four sizes. Moreover you have a choice from, when I was there, six different espressos- yes, now, Q.Lab does the same thing, but with full respect to Q.Lab, SxF is its own roaster (Q.Lab sources from several different local roasters) and is a lot more luxurious, with rare beans that are distinctive. I got a "small" (this'd be a cortado or piccolo at most other shops), at 4.5 ounces, and chose an anaerobic process, single-origin option for the espresso portion and the flavour notes checked out- it was "boozy" and fascinating, and the milk was PERFECTLY steamed and at a PERFECT temperature. The whole experience was very special. Now, I'd not get that coffee every time, it's a $3 premium on top of the very-reasonable base charge of $4.50, with which you get the standard house espresso, but for once in a while this is a memorable experience. This is the place to take out-of-town guests who don't know what a world-class coffee scene we are blessed with in Calgary.

First, they spelled my very simple name "Susan" as "Suzan." Are you kidding me? It's printed on my rewards account! Then I waited a whole SIX minutes for my extra-hot, half-caf, oat milk, no-foam, three-pump vanilla latte. Meanwhile, people who ordered after me somehow got their drinks first. I don't appreciate being ignored. When I politely pointed this out, the barista smiled and said, "Thanks for your patience." Excuse me? I wasn't being patient--I was being inconvenienced. Maybe listen to your customers instead of assuming they're okay with poor service. The tables weren't spotless, there was one napkin on the floor, and the music was so loud I could barely hear myself complain. I've been coming to Starbucks for years, and the standards have clearly gone downhill. I expect professionalism, accuracy, and a little respect. Ordered up a Venti late (yes, it was that kind of morning) and spotted the pastries that were calling my name. Settled on a lemon loaf....yes, just one. They had three people working, which makes me believe they are fairly busy, however with only three customers in Starbucks, everything was done quick. In and out within minutes. Service was quick. But all kidding aside, I am extremely happy that P&S has branched out of Marda Loop and the Calgary Farmer's Market -- even IF this particular location is at the mall. It does get a little busy, especially during the weekends, but I've found their cozy seating space particularly conducive to study sessions or meeting people on weekdays between 12-4. I mean if you have to be at the mall anyway... right? The coffee is great. The lattes in particular are a treat; I have the anti-sweet tooth so I really appreciate how authentically delicious it is, unsweetened and all.
