The chef here understands eggs and I'm here for that. Nothing worse to me than eggs that are overcooked and my omelet was expertly prepared, removed from the heat and allowed to finish cooking with its own heat. And the herbs added were delightful. This came with a multigrain toast and that was also very good. My dining partner had a breakfast sandwich on a toasted croissant and enjoyed it very much. It came with 2 eggs, prepared to your request and a generous portion of ham. The latter, I'm told, was the best ever, from anywhere, while my plain coffee was lovely. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. There is table space inside and outside. On the morning we went, it was still a bit cool outside so we stayed indoors and felt comfortable especially since the doors were open. I must try some of their other baked goods the next time I'm in Arcata - they all looked glorious!

I was bummed, but decided to try one of the sweets. I chose the sourdough babka. It was still warm and the chocolate and cinnamon blended so well together with a hint of sourdough throughout. I was not disappointed in the flavoring, but though it was decent sized, the price point was a tad higher than other offerings from other bakeries. But, beware, the chocolate babka is not really available elsewhere, so it may be worth it to try.

I was a little disappointed I had to wait, but the line moved quickly and everyone in line was friendly. He took my name, gave me my order, and told me how much I owed him. Then I just Venmo him the cash. So easy, so simple! And my car smelled amazeballs on my drive home. Now to the bread. I cut into the fig n fennel loaf and took my first bite. Wow! There are big chunks of mission figs in the bread, it's vegan, with both wheat & rye and naturally leavened. I don't even really like figs, or rye bread, but this... this is some seriously magic bread. Then I broke into the second loaf, La Khorasan, also vegan with 35% khorasan / rye and country sourdough. The crust was perfectly both crispy and chewy at the same time. Dang gurl! This bread should be a controlled substance! The khornguette was my 3rd loaf. (I may have gone a little overboard on my first order!) It is a vegan baguette with both khorasan & cornmeal. Light and fluffy on the inside and just the right amount of chew and crunch. Besides the bread being fantastic, there is something really special about the way Josh runs his business. He posts photos of his bread on social media platforms every Thursday at 9 AM. You text him your order and he has your bread ready by Friday at 4 PM. And then when you get there, there are sweets and other things to add to your order. Including coffee! Next time I'm definitely going to get some coffee. I'm thinking that fig n fennel bread toasted with a cup of his coffee, would likely be quite an amazing duo.
