I had the lemon pistachio croissant and it had the texture and breading of a typical croissant (a bit bigger and crispier than typical French croissants) and flavors that hit you on the first taste and it was amazingly delicious. I think about this croissant often. There is a bit of a line since this is one of the best french bakeries in LA but I expect nothing less since it's so good. It does go fast. Staff are friendly and helpful. If I am craving french bread I found my new spot.!

We got Jambon Gruyere, Lemon Pistachio, and Almond Croissant. Not sure if it's just me, but I felt the almond got much more generous filling than it used to be. Pastry base was so buttery and flaky, with those gorgeous layer being highly satisfying. The Pistachio one was also delectable but still couldn't steal the podium from the almond IMO. My friend got the Jambon Gruyere and said it's one of the best savory croissant she'd had with the stellar surprise from the mustard layer. Unfortunately they didn't really offer sitdown space, otherwise certainly the reason to go for chilling over pastry!

I've tried venturing out to try their other stuff, and it's all delicious, but I keep coming back for the mango and pistachio. I like how each pastry you purchase you also get a free macaron. She took me here. The place was very clean and tidy with a lot of different types of sweet treats. I was there for one thing only. I did ask the gal working if they were made that day and she said yes. We ordered a raspberry, an orange, a coffee bean and the popular mango. This was my 2nd time trying these and our hopes were high BUT the raspberry was just awful the filling was strange and it had just raspberry jam inside,I dint eat it. The mango was okay so we shared that. The coffee bean was just awful as well so we didn't finish that either. The orange was the best of the group but overall just a disappointing experience once again because these are not cheap. I'm starting to think I might just have to give up my journey to find these although there are some places in Vegas that look promising. I don't think Reno has any bakeries that make these. They look so beautiful but the taste is a let down.

We were delighted with the box of cookies and tarts that they brought from Paderia in Santa Monica. The chocolate chip walnut cookies were fat and soft with a slightly crisp exterior. The thickness of them allowed a plethora of rich chips to reside inside. I'm not a fan of chunks of nuts in cookies but these were chopped in tiny pieces, so did not take away from the overall soft texture. The soft peanut butter chocolate cookie was also a huge fattie with peanut butter chips within the chocolate cookie. Both were enhanced with a quick warm-up. I loved both of these cookies and think the chocolate chip is the very best you'll ever find. We also had Portuguese egg tarts. The pastel de nata (if I recall, this is what they are called) I ate was small but good, but I have had others that were more to my liking, with a sweeter custard and a more caramelized top, which I guess is a personal preference. Not to say it wasn't delicious - it was! I love the cookies so much I'll be checking out their Irvine location soon, which is much closer to me.

Since it's quite loud inside it was difficult to communicate about our selections, but service was friendly. Definitely appreciative for the availability of gluten free treats, even with a limited selection.

Cuisine: Bakery, with select gluten-free desserts. Price: Affordable/cheap. Restrooms: Not sure since indoor dining isn't available. Parking: Large private lot though there's plenty of businesses that it might be busy during lunch/dinner rush. Atmosphere/Service: Casual; polite & efficient service. NOTE: Restaurant has a website & orders can be placed online, though no menu pics for point of reference. Sinners for decadent desserts & saints for gluten-free delights... Sinners & Saints Desserts offers a splurge for a luscious dessert, yet scrumptious for those that need gluten-free treats. Be mindful that their kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free one, but precautions are taken to minimize cross contamination. I used to work in the area & came across this bakery, but never got around to trying them out. Since my daughter's birthday was coming up, I thought about trying them out since their desserts were beautifully displayed... they should taste good, right? I ordered the current favorite flavor: red velvet, & asked if they could decorate it with pink flowers & birthday message in red. The cake looks plain with just 3 pink roses, but the birthday cursive was pretty good; however, for the price, it wasn't worth eating a super dry cake. Our family of 4 barely ate 1/3, & tried giving it away to our neighbors, who were also unimpressed. The Smack Pie was supposedly a decadent chocolate lover's sinful treat. It was meh... the ganache wasn't silky-smooth but did taste fudgy, the caramel was hard, & the peanuts were stale. We did enjoy the Banana Cream & Lemon Blueberry Tarts to offset the very dry birthday cake. Luckily, I bought these to compensate for the cake so the birthday girl was happy in the end. Sinners & Saints Desserts sounds like a deliciously tempting bakery but some of their goods miss the mark. I don't think I'll be purposely sinning here much. Recommended: Lemon Blueberry & Banana Cream Tarts.

Chef Yang Soon began developing the reimagined classic Helms Bakery twelve years ago but could not have anticipated the huge changes that were to hit the dining landscape with the Covid pandemic. The decline of going out / dining out, changes in spending habits and the rise of delivery services made this Art Deco styled concept bakery financially unsustainable. Helms has a fascinating history. In 1932 their bread, Olympic Bread, was declared the official bread of the Olympic Games. This led to worldwide recognition. Delivery wagons, or coaches, brought bread, doughnuts and other baked goods to Angelenos' homes with their slogan, "Daily at Your Door." Helms was the bread that astronauts in Apollo 11 took to the moon. World Famous. I've sampled many items in my several visits (driving all the way to Culver City from the SF Valley.) *Breakfast burrito, $14 *Prosciutto/Persimmon sandwich, $17 *Coffee Cake, $5 *Cherry Pie slice, $12 *Nutella-stuffed cookie, $7 *Oat & Medjool Date cookie, $4.50 *Corn & Caramel cookie, $5 *Pistachio & chocolate cookie, $7 *Pecan Molasses, $5 On previous visits: *Olive Oil Cake *Corn Cake All of the above were made with high-quality ingredients, and thus sold at a high price point. All well-crafted and extremely delicious in my opinion. I will miss this place tremendously. I sincerely hope that Chef makes good on opening a Helms bakery in another location in the near future.
