The AC on my 2011 Toyota Tacoma went out for the first time in 12 years. Air was blowing, but it was only warm air, no cold air. I initially went to a Toyota dealership in town (AutoNation), and they quoted me $2,400. I tried to push through until the weather cooled down but couldn't stand the heat anymore, so I finally had to do something about it. I put a quote request out there on Yelp and immediately got a response from Frank's Complete Mobile Auto Care. I texted Frank to get a quote and to schedule someone to come by my house to diagnose the problem. He sent Josue a couple of days later and along with diagnosing the AC problem within 10 mins, he heard some knocking in the engine and asked when I last had an oil change. I don't use the vehicle often since I work remotely most days, so I don't remember that last time. He checked the oil and there was nothing in there. I asked if he could add that to my quote. I was seriously shocked when I learned the cost to repair the AC plus and an oil change ($500). That included parts and labor! That was a quarter of what Auto Nation was going to charge me. Josue wrapped it up in a couple of hours while I was inside working. Quick, quality work, honest mechanics. These are hard qualities to find in a mechanic, especially if you don't know where to look. I had given Frank my business once before, on a lilght on dash (turned out I just needed a tighter new gas cap and he charged me $95 to tell me, which I thought was well, greedy but I DID call him!) and I am honorable so I PAID. (Bought my own new gas cap for $13 bucks too, not that he provided it for $95...sheesh.) This time, it was to be rear pad replacement, and the model I have had a Service Bulletin ABOUT the brake kit required to make sure the brakes DON"T make a moo-ing hum (when new pads of the WRONG kind are put on) so I was asking him to confirm (in a text, you know, ,write it, say Yes, I gotcha, it has to be ABC type...yadayada) but I SUPPOSE it was taken like "telling him how to do his job" and he texted me I better buy my own pads and pay for labor...and that he was not coming, his guy was...who was late, and then a plain no-show and I took time off work to stay and wait for him. Seems to me he blew it off when there wasn't much $ in it for him...What woman needs this kind of crapola from a man, or a mechanic when she is being polite and trying to get the right part for her car? Not me! There are PLENTY of other mobile mechanics to choose from, so DON'T CHOOSE this one! Ask for a name at your local auto parts store! The problem with this biz is that it was just Frank and now he has gotten full of himself with "2 more guys" working for him. Plus, sheesh, the sheer number of people moving to Austin and all with a car, well, even a broke clock is right twice a day, meaning that this is another Austin business that will still get customers if people who get a bad experience trying to deal with them don't read Yelp reviews and GIVE their business dollars to a better busines model. Don't settle for crapola service and bad communication---there are as many new BUSINESSES as there are new residents, so THAT is a good thing. Expect respect, ladies! read more

I contacted Frank's to get a quote to replace the valve cover on my Malibu which the automotive shop I had taken to had quoted me 2000.00. Frank was super fast in getting back to me and was able to get someone out the same week I requested. Josue came to my house and was very professional and effecient in getting the repair completed. Mobile Mechanics - Not having to drive to a mechanic shop AND wait for potentially an hour for this exact same inspection at the EXACT same price as other shops, was So great. I value time even more than money. I'd rather pass extra money onto a mobile mechanic for saving me time. What I liked most is he was totally cool with me asking a lot of questions. i have Frank diagnose a problem in the past, i opted to do the repair myself. I was happy, It was all good business. This time, because the repair seemed complex, i requested it to be done for me. No problem on that front. When it came to finalizing the total cost, i was told the diagnostic fee will NOT be deducted to the repair. I felt misled, since the opposite was communicated to me at the start. For future customers, make sure to document your price negotations with Frank, that will help in the event that both parties are not on the same page. read more

Updating this review as it turns out my AC was broken due to the evaporator core leaking, something that was not caught when Frank was doing the test. He agreed to fix it but after doing so, messed up all the sensors on my car and was unable to re set it and now I need to take it to the dealer shop. More over he kept saying he would show up to drop off my car but changed the time 3 times with no notice. My biggest issue and why I'm updating my review is I have been asking him for receipts of the three visits he made to get a reimbursement at Honda (2000$ worth) but he has refused to give them to me and stopped replying to my texts and now I can't get reimbursed. I would recommend going elsewhere as this place is not reliable. read more

I have used Frank a couple of times and both times I have been completely happy with the service, responsiveness and value. My first issue was with my fuel injectors. He diagnosed the problem and had me back up and running quickly. My second issue was a problem with the fuel pump. It was an in-tank pump and it wasn't getting power. I had a really great experience with Frank's Complete Mobile Auto Care, it was reasonably priced, convenient and he did an excellent job. I think I found a reliable go-to mechanic for all my auto needs. My brakes were going bad, I knew I needed to change the brake pads. It's a pretty straight forward job so after some research online I bought the correct brake pads I wanted (for super hard braking, of course) but now I needed someone to install them for me. After a Yelp search I came up with Frank's reviews - all of which looked great - so I called him up and he gave me a reasonable quote to install them on all 4 wheels ($150) and he'll even come to me! Kewl Beans. It was so easy and convenient! We scheduled for a late Saturday morning, Frank showed up with his partner and in no-time they had easily replaced all for of my brake pads. I also have another car that needed an oil change - for which I had already purchased the oil and oil filter - no problem! He only charged $20 for that job and it was done in about 15-20 min. Now that's what I call jiffy. He also installed the new car battery for me (for free) which I had been wanting to do but didn't have the right tools. I was so very pleased with his service and the convenience, plus he was very straight forward and there was no up-selling and the pricing was very reasonable. Not to mention I didn't have to drive to a store location and sit there for 1-2 hours - he finished all of the work in about 1 hour. I took my car for a spin and the new brakes are perfect, and my other car started up right away with the new battery and new oil change. I found other odd jobs for him (fuel filter, changing out the hood struts that hold the hood up - they are worn down) - which he said he would be happy to do for me when I'm ready for it. I was really pleased w/ Frank's quality of work, price, and convenience and I highly recommend him for your auto mechanic needs. Frank is a super honest, hard-working guy, came out to install a battery kill switch, but when I described what I was needing to do, even though he had the part in hand and been driving all morning to get there, he told me that that solution wasn't the best for my low battery drain needs. He told me I should get a trickle charger, told me where to get it. He could've sold me a couple of different things that morning, including what I originally asked for and made extra money, but instead he steered me right.
