I went to Franks Bicycles based on the Yelp reviews and Yelpers are completely right. I walked in and was greeted warmly by Frank. I explained my situation to Frank that I had my mountain bike in storage for several years and that I needed a tune up and anything else he felt was needed to get my bike going. He said no problem and proceeded to put my bike up on the rack and he first checked the gear shift. At first they were not working and he worked on them for another 10-15 minutes hoping to be able to fix them in order to save me over $100 in purchasing and installing a new gear shift. Before you know it, Frank worked his magic and got the gears to work. He told me he would keep the bike overnight and give it a tune up, replace the tires and the inner tubes. He quoted me a price for all of the above work, which I thought was pretty reasonable. When I went in to pick up the bike, he charged me $5.00 less than his original quote, I showed him a 10% off of accessories with a tune up, which I got from yelp, he then lowered the price another $6.00. I also decided to purchase a hand pump for my bike, Frank was nice enough to not charge me taxes. He never charged me for the quick fix on the gear shift either. Franks a great guy and understands your needs. He does not pressure you into making any unnecessary purchases and his prices are extremely reasonable and lower than his competition. Frank's Bicycles has a great bike maintenance service. Frank was very helpful in answering all of my questions and I had a lot of questions. He was able to get all the accessories I wanted and installed them. My bike is now tuned up and working as if it was brand new. I took my Schwinn Wayfarer in to get a flat tire repaired and the bike a tune up. Found them through Google because I needed quick repair on my bike. It was later in the afternoon and he told me to bring it down and he would fix it. I use this bike daily for my excercise for arthritis in my knees and the great tunaround service was appreciated tremendously!! The pricing and customer service was excellent. I've used many other bike shops and this has been the best service and pricing I've seen anywhere!! I'll bring my wife's bike in for tune-up($39.99) and any other future service I will be back!! I've lived in Whittier for over 12 years and always noticed Frank's bike shop, but never checked it out. I've only been riding for two years and usually take my road bike to get tune ups to another bike shop. Frank's bike shop was recommended to me, so today I decided to take my bike to Frank. I'm so glad I did. Frank was super helpful and worked on my bike in front of us, as my husband and I watched. He explained in detail what my bike needed, why my bike wasn't shifting correctly, he trued up both tires. adjusted my brakes, etc... and his prices were extremely reasonable. Frank is a genius at what he does. He combines all the skills of a top of the line bicycle mechanic with the customer service of a mom and pop store. Initially, I was skeptical about taking my racing bike to be assembled in a store that did not even have more than 5 road bikes on display. I showed him all the parts I had for my bike and he said he could assemble it with ease, even quoting me a price that a tune-up would have cost at a major chain bike shop. This of course included assembly (from scratch) as well as a full tune up! There was a problem with one of my brakes (I was given 2 rear calipers) and he managed to MacGyver it to make it work. Never did I once feel any pressure to purchase anything extra. Frank is probably the most honest and caring store owner you will probably ever meet. He even suggested a website where I could purchase items for super cheap. One would think that this would take business away from him but I believe that it is that kind of honesty and integrity that keeps his customers coming back. He loves chatting with customers and offering advice and his customers love him for it as well. Same day bike repairs? Not a chance if you were to go to a big dealer, but Frank usually offers it if at all feasible. I walked into his shop for the first time today, but it most certainly wont be the last! So I decided to by a bike for my brother so he would stop bothering me for rides to school. After checking various bike shops like the La Habra and Whittier one and having horrible experiences at those places decided to give frank's a try. I went on a Wednesday of February to check out the bikes. Me and my brother had no clue in bike types. We came in thinking a bmx bike was best to get to school but recommended a different type road/mountain type. Told us his prices and was very friendly and never pressured us on buying. We decided to not buy that day and other stores. That same weekend found out he was the friendliest and the best. He gave us a good deal on a Schwinn bike for about 300 but added a couple things so it cost a bit more. What I liked was that he told us that first year we got free tune-ups just not bike flats. I thought that was great and left great. A month later, March, my brother ate shit when his brakes jammed and the gears got loose. We went straight to his shop and helped us out after the customer before us. He showed us that they popped lose and that's why he flew. Reminded my brother that he needed to check the brakes weekly cause he got out good with just a bruise. He helped us in 20 minutes. He was friendly again telling us a recent story about breeding his dog. The story was funny. I felt like I was at home because I'm sure other store employees talk to you like a friend and telling funny stories. And this guy is the Owner nonetheless. When it was done he never asked for money or even mentioned it. We left. A week ago my brother popped one of his tires. So we went to Walmart to replace the tube. Well he had bad luck a day after cause when he went to school both of his tires popped. He has to walk like 3 miles with his flat bike. (side note it was hilarious coming home and hearing this story. I mean come on. ) So today we finally had a chance to go to Frank's and ask for help. I KNOW CHANGING TIRES IS EASY but as a precaution took my brother to check the bike to get new tubes and a tune-up. Getting a new tube and it inflated was 13 a piece but gave me 25 for 2. I know it is only a dollar but a dollar goes a long way. He told us the outer tire part had a lot of thorns and it was going to take a day to get them all out as he had other orders to fulfill. I asked him if there was another alternative and told me maybe buying new outer tires and the tape thing to protect them from a puncture. He said it wasn't necessary it would just take a day to get all the thorns and get it right. I decided to buy all that for my brother so he wouldn't bother me anymore. He gave us a deal 90 even for 2 outer tires, 2 inner tubes, inflated them, and the masking tape to protect them from popping. Without tax! I even paid with a card and still no tax!. That didn't included the free tune-up cause he made sure all the gears were working and in place and checked the brakes. I asked him for a price on a fixie for my sister gave me a flat out cash price guaranteed when I get paid. Let me tell you this I will come back for the bike. He made this skateboarding family into a cycling family. I will be a lifelong customer of his. Shops like his are a rarity. Give him a try. Just go there and check it out. Expect the best. I will travel a couple of miles and head there then going to the bike shop around my corner. read more

I paid a visit to Franks shop a few weeks ago. I went because he was highly recommended on Yelp and my crank was making a noise that was driving me nuts! I ended up buying some new cranks and sealed bottom bracket. Before he performed the work, he clearly laid out all of my options. Frank defiantly went above and beyond for the work that I paid for. Here is a list of extra items that he performed; He replaced my brake line Adjusted my brakes Fixed a broken shifter Replaced my handle bars New Grips Replaced my seat Lubed my bike from end to end. While I was there I watched him interact with many customers, he was very knowledgeable and at the risk of losing a sale would point the customer in the right direction, even to competitors! It is refreshing to see a business owner providing exemplary customer service to his customers. If more business ran like yours with the customer "truly" in mind, they would be a success! I just had a great experience with Frank's Bicycles. I just recently purchased my first mountain bike from a seller on craigslist and he made mention of Frank. So me and my friend rolled up there right after the purchase because I needed a new front tire and had to get some minor adjustments. As soon as I walked up to this small but quaint shop that is tucked into a small center with other various shops right off the corner of Lambert and Colima. When you walk in the place is filled with bikes and a good selection for what could be the size of a large living room. Bikes are lined across the walls and along the floor. When you get to the rear of the room we were greeted by Frank himself. He was talkin with another kat in there but Frank was quick to greet us with a warm smile and an extended greet on what he can do for us. I asked him if he had any front tires and he was very informative with the different quality and price ranges of tires he carries. I asked if he had time to install one and he said bring it in. He struck me as very easy going and personable and at this point I was already won over. I bring the bike in and he gets right to work, but not what you are thinking. He looked over as I explained what I got and he addressed my concerns over the safety and overall condition of the bike. He helped put me at ease and was very educational in what to do. He tightened this and that and checked brakes and cables and gears and made adjustments. He lubed it up and did a thorough inspection and pretty much gave a standard $40 tune up.....before he even touched what I originally came in for! Amazingly awesome! He looks over both tires and just as i suspected the front tire was worn. He replaces that and just when I think it was done, he was telling me about the cable needed replacing and it was $4 for a new one and $12 to install. But informs me I can do it myself and shows me the steps. I am sold on the cable and just as my friend goes to pull the money out of the car and he knows its a sold piece, he says "you know what I'll just put it on for ya" ..GREAT!!! I brought in the cash left which was $34 after the sale. My friend hooks up the $4 to get the cable. He was going to cut me a deal and for everything he did I gave him the $38 to say thank you and you did more then I expected. Frank is a great kat and he is the definition of the "mom and pop store" experience. Friendly, helpful, informative, and genuine. His wife runs the store in Long Beach off South and Downey and he won not only my business but my friend who took me here needs her cruiser fixed up and she is getting a bike for her husband, got her business too. I came on here specifically to write about how great my experience was and put over Frank and his business. This is what walmart and target will never replace. The spirit of small business still thrives in this country of ours and people like Frank exemplify the american dream and it can succeed on great customer service and putting the customer service with quality and not quantity. Great little mom and pop type shop. The owner, frank is very helpful. We brought in some road bikes we purchased from bikesdirect and one of them gave us some issues. Frank assembled the bikes at a reasonable price-think like less than 50 bucks each...we brought it back several times due to some manufactoring issuea and frank fixed each issue as they came up. I know buying a bike from an online store may be a gamble at times, but going to franks has really helped with the situation. Great customer service, great repairs and he backs up his parts. I took my mountain bike to Frank to get a part replaced and he went above and beyond what I asked of him. Not only did he replace the part and dial it in, he also did a complete over look of my mountain bike, adjusted the shifting, brakes, and aired my tires all out the kindness of his heart. I then expressed my interest in buying a full suspension mountain bike and he went online and found a few good used bikes at a reasonable price. I was surprised that he would do this and not try to pitch me one of his new bikes. I will continue to go to Frank for all of my future cycling needs. Frank's is the best bike shop I have ever been to and that is saying a lot because i have been to countless bike shops between here and TN, Frank gave me the best service imaginable he treats you as a bro from the minute you walk in till u walk out and all at a great price. I originally went in to his shop to fix a flat and instead of just fixing the flat and sending me on my way like any other shop that i have been to, he actually informed me that if i had a tire liner that it would stop the flats and he pointed out the other things that needed to be adjusted like that the tire pressure I was riding on isn't right and its causing my rim to bend and the gears were a little off causing them to skip. I had him adjust everything and walked out spending a lot less than I thought I would. read more

I walked into Frank's shop to get some information about what kind of bike was right for me. I told him what I thought would be a good bike for me and even though he didn't keep that style bike in stock, he told me what the differences between the different style bikes were; what to look for; things to consider when choosing a bike; all the different makes and models. He seemed more interested in making sure I was going to be happy with the bike I would eventually purchase, than trying to make a sale and just pushing something on me right there and then. Absolutely great customer service. He even gave me his card and said to give him a call anytime a wanted if i ever had any questions even if I was looking to buy a bike from somewhere else.
