What a great home town bar!! Service was awesome, Holly took great care of us. Food is always good, and beer is always cold.

I was invited to a bridal shower luncheon at Julio's Cafe in Clarksburg, WV. (A Saturday in early…read moreMarch, 2024). I mistakenly thought that I would be going to a Mexican restaurant but, to the contrary, Julio's is a fine dining ($$$) Italian restaurant. The buffet lunch was made-from-scratch and excellent. It featured perfectly fried thick-and-gooey grilled cheese sandwiches; white pasta fagioli soup; chicken pastina soup with ditalini pasta; garlic toast; and spicy marinated peppers (which I put on my sandwich). I've had pasta and fagioli soup many times over the years but none as good as this -- obviously made from a traditional recipe from a real Italian cook! Some also enjoyed mimosas or aperol spritzes. The party host also purchased small bottles of Prosecco wine from the restaurant for us to take home as party favors. The ambiance was very comfortable in the back room for our group of about 30 persons, with three tables of about ten ladies each. The food was served along the counter of the bar area. A waitress took and delivered our drinks. There was a fireplace in the room but it was not lit. I hope to return one day for a special occasion to try their dinner menu.

To make matters worse, I watched as an older couple walked in and were seated and the staff took there drink order right away At that point, it was clear that my presence was being ignored entirely. I understand that restaurants get busy, but this felt like an intentional lack of service. If the staff prioritizes certain guests over others, they should be upfront about it. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere and won't be returning. I hope management takes customer service seriously because no one should feel invisible when dining out.

This local West Virginia chain of seven…read morerestaurants (in Harrison, Taylor, Marion, and Monongahela counties) was established in 1984 by the Henderson family, and is now owned/managed by their third generation family. From their website, "In the early 1990's the Hendersons added a new "twist" to their already popular restaurants. The Oldies Diners were created in an effort to re-create the happy and carefree lifestyle of days long gone by. The walls are covered with antique pictures, toys and memorabilia for customers viewing pleasure. You can listen to the sounds of the oldies as they play on the restored 1950's juke box only 5 cents a play, and enjoy the great hot dogs, famous "fresh cut" fries, and fabulous specialty sandwiches." Food. (3/5). Given that they're West Virginia's #1 selling hot dog, and the restaurant's specialty, I HAD to try one of their hot dogs with their original chili sauce (prepared daily in their stores). I ordered the #1 Value Meal, with included one of their original hot dogs with homemade chili sauce (choice of mild, medium, or hot), mustard, and raw onions, small fries, and a medium self-serve fountain Pepsi drink ($9.09). My husband ordered a Philly Cheese Steak ($10.99), which consisted of steak in a fresh Italian bun with peppers, onions, and cheese and a medium fountain drink ($?). His order did not come with fries. As per our usual practice, we split the food between us. Overall, the food was tasty enough but the chili dog didn't measure up to my gold standard, Carwanna's in Carbondale, PA. Also, the fillings on the cheese steak (both steak and vegetable toppings) were on the lighter side, and the quantity of fries for the combo meal was also quite small and they were quite greasy. We both were somewhat hungry even after finishing our meal. We'll have a better sense of what, and how much, to order next time! (We definitely need to return to try one of their famous milkshakes). Service (4/5). We ordered at a counter, and the cashier brought our food to our table. She was efficient, though neither friendly nor unfriendly. That said, she was quite busy, taking orders at the register, and delivering food to dine-in and to-go diners. Ambiance (4/5). The restaurant is worth visiting if only to see the cool memorabilia! We particularly liked the train that encircles the top of the restaurant, and the 50s-style jukebox. Our ambiance rating would've been 5-stars with (1) better temperature control. (It was too warm in the restaurant on a late afternoon in March), and (2) more cleanliness in the kitchen area. (Fries and trash on floor). Parking is free and plentiful.

Not great, But good! I do love the sauce but their weiners are lacking! I do love the wet bun buts not from steaming its from the brine water the weiners were in! You have a flat top! Why aren't they grilled to order?? Fries are great! Not a fan of the purple cabbage coleslaw slaw the color is a big turnoff!! I tasted too much vinegar!@ but I will give it a 3 out of 5 Loved the vintage decor and that you kept it original and old school! Very upset that 1 hot dog with chili mustard onions w slaw & kraut, 2 hot dogs w chili mustard onions and cheese, small fries, a fountain pop and one draft small 8oz glass cost me $29 w taxes! that's freaking sad!! Your special 2 dogs w Fries $8 w chili onion and mustard so by adding cheese to 2 that should have been $2 extra, one beer $3, one fountain soda $3 and one hotdog $2.50 then another $2 for the slaw plus Kraft totals $20.50 plus taxes so should have been about $23 not $29...I was over charged $6!!! Stolen money@@ you never gave me an itemed receipt...she holders how much Rick...you throw some numbers out and I paid for someone else's ticket too!! I'm not coming back! I don't recommend you to go there and get ripped off!!
