I came here with some friends who were showing me the area and I was fully expecting some greasy, floppy, tasteless beef smeared in corn-starch thickened broth and thrown on a half stale bun and called a "hoagie". Well, I was completely surprised when this steak hoagie came out. The bread was crisp on the outside, and warm and soft in the middle, which was FULL of deli-thin sliced, impossibly tender and moist rib-eye steak, and topped with some perfectly melted cheese. With plenty of peppers and onions mixed in to give it a depth of flavor that takes it out of any kind of boring, and moves it into "om nom nom thank you another one please" territory. Damn it was good. And the fries were perfectly executed. No starchy taste or half-limpified texture. Crisp and golden and takes to ranch dressing just as well as they do ketchup. Total price was around 12 bucks. And it was absolutely worth it. And worth a special trip for. So 5 stars for this place. Cheers.

I mistakenly thought that I would be going to a Mexican restaurant but, to the contrary, Julio's is a fine dining ($$$) Italian restaurant. The buffet lunch was made-from-scratch and excellent. It featured perfectly fried thick-and-gooey grilled cheese sandwiches; white pasta fagioli soup; chicken pastina soup with ditalini pasta; garlic toast; and spicy marinated peppers (which I put on my sandwich). I've had pasta and fagioli soup many times over the years but none as good as this -- obviously made from a traditional recipe from a real Italian cook! Some also enjoyed mimosas or aperol spritzes. The party host also purchased small bottles of Prosecco wine from the restaurant for us to take home as party favors. The ambiance was very comfortable in the back room for our group of about 30 persons, with three tables of about ten ladies each. The food was served along the counter of the bar area. A waitress took and delivered our drinks. There was a fireplace in the room but it was not lit. I hope to return one day for a special occasion to try their dinner menu.

Stopped into this place on a Sunday evening while doing a little road trip by myself. If I recall, we even shared the same birthday. Place itself had a cool bunker vibe, very underground. Big brick walls, almost claustrophobic with small little rooms housing pool tables and a beautiful fireplace, which I'm sure would be cozy as fuck throughout some cold winter months. The infrastructure reminded me of an underground club in NY called Basement, which is the basement of an old glass mill. The locals (Patty in particular) were as friendly and amicable as possible. I told them I was from Philly, and we talked a little about politics. I was a bit worried that I'd be seen as an outsider, but those worries subsided after they bought me a drink. Shame I had to hit the road so quickly (six hour drive ahead of me). In the wake of the election and the shit show that is the U.S. culture-wars, I think we found a moment of kinship in each other's company.
