We picked out a large Japanese Maple for $499 plus the same for installing and 2 other plants we would plant ourselves. After waiting for a few weeks with no communication, we went back to find out about planting. We saw the tree we had put our name on was gone. The other 2 were still there. We were going on vacation at the end of May (tree still not delivered) and called and told them to wait until we get back now. Called when we got back to schedule and mentioned we didn't see our tree when we were there. I'm assuming they sold it to someone else. He showed a pic on the phone of another tree he could plant. He said it was the same. We said ok and they came the next morning. The tree they brought was at least 2-3 feet shorter than the one we picked. The root ball was about 1/3 of the one we picked. After talking to the owner and him arguing about the tree, he offered $100 off the price. I was just so pissed off, I just had them plant the new tree just to stop dealing with them. We got this tree to shield our pool from the 2 houses next door that were for sale since we weren't sure how nice they would be. It will be a few f*****g years till it grows to a decent height.

I ordered a few plants at shadyside nursery during the lockdown, and was so pleased that I went back to shop very safely with masks and all when things started to open back up. They have great quality plants, and their staff knows their stuff! I got a lovely pepper plant that was already flowering and I had a pepper off of it within the week!!! I got a few other new friends for our back patio that should last all seasons by moving them indoors this winter. I'll plan to come here next spring to get my garden started!

This is our go-to nursery. They have good varieties not present at the big box stores. In…read morebusiness since the 1930s, they have live chickens on prem, several hoop houses, perennials, annuals. Buy 5 yards of mulch and/or mushroom manure and they deliver for free. They do not seem to sell "Bonnie", which in my opinion is great since Bonnie is everywhere and some of their practices are controversial. Their mulch is premium mulch, though it does seem to have its share of duckgrass. One year we used it, and we got sorghum growing in the yard. We bought a number of roses from them. Many of the "drift" brand varieties have done well. Some of the Ingrid Bergman roses got Rose rosette disease. It's not clear if they came from here or from another location, though, so I am not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure I got it from here, but maybe not :shrug: It's a horrible disease. This year, we got some swiss chard to transplant and it was infested with leafborers, which also infected my beets. Now that I know what it looks like I'll actively avoid it. I have heard it can happen when the seasons are cold/wet spring and then hot early, which we had this year. In the end it is a business and they are in business because they sell you things. You really shouldn't transplant squash, melon, cucumber, but they do sell them for transplanting. It's better to stick to seeds with these and sow starting end of May to July. The place is cleared out of vegetables (and other annuals) by mid June. They could have a second round but I guess they want to keep that simple. Perhaps the number of customers doesn't allow it.

She has flowers and perennials for sale, and also the option to pick your own flowers with two different sizes available: a small pail and a 5 gallon bucket. I brought my own 5 gallon bucket and it was 39.99+ tax to pick a giant arrangement of wildflowers. I can't wait to go home and arrange my bouquets. Get here!

Paul took the time to meet with us both, to show us several of the houses he has landscaped; to give us ideas. We weren't sure even where to start, we just told Paul that we wanted a variety of plants and colors. He brought his crew in and within 3 days they had all the old plants out and beautiful new plants in place. There were trees of all colors, as well as evergreens of all shapes and sizes. There is an amazing stone walkway from our garage to the back yard, with different types of plants flanking both sides. Well placed boulders along the stairs help set off the small plants and ornamental grasses on the hillside. We were unsure of having lights placed among the plants but decided to go ahead with them. Wow what a difference they make, so glad we did. We are amazed and in awe of the finished oasis of lights and plants we have in our backyard and around the pool. We can't give enough praise to Paul and McMurray Nursery for a job well done; product, price, and his crew all included.

Side note: The owner has a "GUNS ARE WELCOME" sign hanging behind the register. While we were checking out, my 7yo asked him why he has the sign hanging since guns usually are not welcome (in our home, that'the case). The customer service was fantastic as I was asked several times if there was anything specific I was looking for and if they could help me. It was nice to see several people on the floor working and anxious to be helpful to customers. I also found the prices to be really fair here. The water hyacinths were a couple of dollars less than the sad looking ones at the other place, and the couple of plants I got were priced at below what I would have paid at a big box store. I would always rather support a local business. I also remember from when I was younger that they do nice special events here such as Santa photos during the holidays.
