    Old Fashioned

Checked this place out on a Friday night when we were looking for a fun and casual place to get drinks and dinner with our family of four. There was a sign on the door about being short handed which was no problem. We received great service. My husband had a Bloody Mary and I ordered an Old Fashioned. Our family ordered chili dogs, chicken tenders, bacon cheeseburger and hamburger steak. Everything was hot and served quickly after ordering. We will be back!

3 piece chicken tenders with roll

Totally disappointed with the quality of the food. Chicken tenders $6.50 for 3 with a roll and they were burned. Ruben $11.25 and was a joke. Loaded potato wedges $9.50 and were mixed with some cheese and bacon thrown in. Will definitely it eat here again as the last 2 times have been a complete disappointment. And charge way to much for what you get. $53 and most was thrown in the trash.

    2 sets of flights

We were having a mini vacation and visiting distilleries. Came upon this one by looking thru google maps. Decided we were close so we went to visit. Selected 2 flights for tasting - smoothest Vodka and so many flavors to choose from - currently they have about 30 at the end they are saying they will have about 39...guess that means another trip. So to say the least we ended up bringing a Whole Case Home. They guys were all so nice and helpful with everything. Appreciate their help.

This place is outstanding. Moonshines with WAYYYYYY more flavors than on the website. As well as other vodkas and liquors. AMAZING mixed drinks. Food and for those who don't like liquor there is a few beers on tap. Truly something for everyone. Our server was friendly and not overbearing. 12/10 would suggest this place to everyone.

    The Smurfette drink was delicious

We visited for the first time this weekend. The drinks were great. Everyone was so nice. I would definitely recommend the Franklin County Distillery. I can't wait until the restaurant opens.

    Cocktail nirvana.

    Is it dog friendly?

Now that we have a kitchen, according to the health department, we can no longer let pets indoors, however we still allow pets on the patio.

To get there I had to drive on the highway and with the change in time, when I arrived, night had already fallen, and it was dark. With no traffic lights to turn to the small parking lot of the restaurant, I had to wait until cars stopped coming from the other side to be able to turn towards the restaurant. You could say it was an adventure just getting there on a Sunday evening. Once inside, the place was clean, cozy and had a comfortable ambiance, with eclectic dining furniture and decor. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review for a better sense of the place and the quality of the food. A young lady who would be my server, greeted me and took me to my table, leaving a copy of the menu with me and taking my drink order. I had a fountain drink. When she came back with my drink I ordered a House Salad with the House dressing to start with, and a Klukin Pig Sandwich with Homemade Chips. The sandwich had ham, chicken, bacon, provolone and Chef dressing on a Ciabatta bread. The salad was a nice size salad, served in a plastic bowl. I enjoyed eating it with the House dressing very much. The sandwich was not too big but good tasting. And the chips were pre-cooked, so they were somewhat dry. I had expected they would be fried at the moment, like in other restaurants I'd had homemade chips before. For dessert I had a Funnel Cake Sundae. It was huge and delicious. The other desserts they had were mostly slices of cakes and pies packed in plastic containers. I could see the locals or tourists of this small town dining here, but I wouldn't make it a trip just to dine there.

The Taj Mahal of truck stop restaurants. If you are traveling anywhere nearby (or even if you…read morearen't but can reroute yourself without too much inconvenience) eat your breakfast on the road here. In fact, even if you're in, for example, Florida or California, and are tempted to enter a Waffle House, or an IHOP, Denny's, or, heaven forbid, a Cracker Barrel -- just drive toward the Blue Ridge Mountains and eat at Dudley's instead. The mountain areas of Virginia have restaurants, both large and small, of shockingly good quality (especially if you're way too used to North Carolina's generally dismal offerings). And the splendor of Virginia culinary expertise clearly applies to truck stops -- or at least it does here, in a little restaurant that doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 60 years. Here, all of your diner breakfast dreams will come true. For example, the omelets are perfect diner omelets. The home fries (usually something to be avoided at many diners) clearly come from real potatoes which have been perfectly chopped and even excellently seasoned. There are actual biscuits, seemingly made in-house (shockingly a rarity in other, less rarified, parts of the Southeast - trust me). And it all tastes good and is cooked impeccably. Best of all, is the extra special depth of flavor that can only come from a grill that has seen, and cooked, a lot of history, like a well-loved iron frying pan. You can try to fry bacon elsewhere, but it will never have the same indefinable magic that comes from a venerable diner kitchen. The atmosphere gives top quality diner scenery. The walls, the curtains, the friendly regulars, the pictures, the memorabilia, photos of Willie Nelson, a taxidermied bobcat (which, I should clarify, is a bobcat, I don't mean it's a photo of a bobcat named Willie Nelson, though that may well have been his name to his bobcat friends). it's all magnificent, charming, and will make you miss the sepia-toned vision of your childhood, which really was never like this at all, but it feels right. Chain restaurants can only wish they had a 1/100th of the pleasant authenticity of the decor here. The service is very efficient and, of course, super-friendly (as you would expect), but never annoying or overbearing. It's just as it should be. A lot of the quality comes from (as it does everywhere that is special) having an ever-present owner, who, from the long-ago beginning, has been at the restaurant every step of the way. Great establishments often owe their greatness to a wise owner who harnesses the threads of the business like the Fates at the loom. Thank you for maintaining such a nice place.
