Chunks of teflon found in my food
Logan N.

Course is always in awful shape for the price. Grill/snackbar has arguably the lowest quality food in existence. On top of the food quality, it seems like they desperately need new cookware. Today wasn't the first time I've had big chunks of teflon on my food. Absolute Mickey Mouse operation

This is a two part review. Part 1 - we had a foursome today. We redeemed a Golf Moose voucher. $62 twosome. Our tee time was 8:40am. Posted on the door into the pro shop was a cart path notice - holes 3, 13, & 14 were cart path only. My problem started at hole 1. The fairways were so tall. I couldn't find my ball even though I saw it drop. And don't hit into the rough. Even worse. Needless to say I had a terrible game. No mojo at all. Holes 13 & 14 were so mucky. So mucky it went up to my shoelaces. Fortunately I had my waterproof Ecco spiked golf shoes on. Part 2 - our friends had a time constraint so we decided to eat at the Canyon Grill located onsite at the golf course. There's beer on draft as well as canned beer. Hubby ordered a Polish dog. I ordered chicken quesadilla. And a basket of fries. He ordered a Simtra 22 oz canned beer. I got a Drake IPA. Our friends ordered a Hercules hamburger with fries and a Rueben with green salad. Everything came quickly to our table. We all express a huge Wow when the basket of fries came out. A very generous order. Hot and crispy. Lots of indoor dining. And an outdoor patio. I had leftovers. Reheated the fries at home later for dinner. Not the same.

Some clowns stuffed beer boxes in my sunroof (parking lot)

Course is fun to play. Grounds aren't top notch - some patchiness here and there. I've played here twice as a single in the last month and have met some nice people. There aren't too many water hazards. Plenty of opportunities to birdie and par. Feel free to break out the driver - several Par 4s are can be reached from the tee if you're long. Hole #9 is probably my nemesis. Go over a ditch from the tee. Pond on the left. Out of bounds on the right. Dog-leg left. It's not a difficult hole persay but it does put a little added pressure on you if you're trying to shoot bogey golf. I managed to not loose one ball up until this hole and was on the verge of scoring 45 if I scored par on this hole. Welp, that didn't happen lol! I lost two balls on this hole and took a snowman to finish the front nine with a score of 49. However, I shot 44 on the back nine and scored my lowest round this summer! Not bad - I'll be breaking 90 in no time! I hope! The driving range sits at a weird angle. So, from the tee mat it's tricky gauging where you're aiming. It's also a little odd and unsafe that the driving range butts right up against the fairway on hole #1. Be cautious in the parking lot - other reviews indicated car theft. No one has broken into my car but some clowns did stuff beer boxes in my sunroof - WTH?! Who does that?!! See picture. I'll probably play here again if I can - $40 to play on a Saturday afternoon (golf cart included) isn't bad. There is a bit of slow play (the foursome in front of us hit from the blue tees and were sharing clubs - none of them drove the ball more than 200 yards or hit it straight). The two fellas I played with were super upset and let that be known. Maybe that explains the beer boxes in my sunroof! Haha! I heard they're shutting this course down soon and turning it into an RV park. Kind of sad as I know it's been a staple in the golfing community for decades. One employee shared that the water bill alone is $435K per year. Sheesh! Alrighty then, in the words of my older brother, "tee it high and let it fly!" See you out there!

Pretty patchy

All in all I would say this is a pretty nice course. Lots of fun! If you by chance happen to head to men's restroom in club house there is information in regards to their watering system and how they are trying to conserve on water during this time. They say that their greens are in top form and I would have to agree. There are a few that had some aeration holes still but other than that their greens are well kept, trimmed, and smooth. I will definitely be back, not just because I have another tee time next weekend but because the course is fun. I would assume it depends on availability but everyone had their own carts today with last name and TT it was reserved under. Haven't been able to really do that during COVID-19 since the beginning. Hopefully once California stops having water issues we can see the water hazards filled back up...lots of nice courses with the water hazards all dried up. Just remember please if you can to take care of courses, replace your divots or fill them and DEFINITELY always fix your green divots. If you don't have a divot tool use a tee...but tools are cheap...pay it forward!

Great course in the Bay Area. The tee boxes are good and the greens are well kept. Very forgiving course. We teed off at 8:30 so it was a nice day but as we got to around 1pm it started to get pretty hot. Would definitely go again for its $73.50 per person tag.

12th hole. Dogleg right but you can go over the trees to the right to get a shortcut right onto the green and putt for a eagle!
Grace H.

AMAZING course! You get what you pay for. $50 per person on a Monday with early tee times and a cart. Best deal! This place is a little far for me but I'm so glad I gave this course a try. Fairways are really big and forgiving. The only thing hard about this course is the greens. The greens were hard to read and really fast/slow depending on the small breaks and hills. Got used to the greens though by the time it was the back nine. Staff is extremely nice and friendly. He even let us hop on 15 min early because they were running early! This never happens! We were able to finish all 18 holes thanks to him. Our tee time was 12:50 but got on around 12:35 and finished at 4:45. Not bad at all and the pace of the game was perfect. They already had carts with our names on it too which is extremely convenient! There are some dirt patches but once again, it's covid and winter! You can't expect much especially if you're paying a low rate. If you hit into the middle of the fairway each hole, you'll be more than fine. The dirt patches only become an issue if your off aim (I tend to slice my shots but the fairway is big so it's not an issue). I was still able to hit pretty low score despite the wet and muddy grass from the rain couple days ago. I usually do poorly on a new course but this course was really welcoming! I will definitely be back! Worth the drive for me!

Couple things before I dive into this. I went to high school in Hercules and played at Franklin Canyon Golf Course while I was on the golf team. I also worked here part time during high school. I am very familiar with this course and seeing it in the state is in is a little sad. I get it. California is still in a drought, but I think it goes a little further than that. The up keep of the course overall is not great. From the tee boxes to the greens, everything is a little disheveled. Perhaps it is the customer base? I understand that in order to keep green fees reasonable you have to make some sacrifices. I apologize for making complaints without any solutions but then again this is yelp. Overall I still like the course and it will always be one of my go to places to play. I just wish it was a tad bit better.

Ask the Community - Franklin Canyon Golf Course

Are spectators spouses allowed on the course?

Yes

Weird question, but are people able to fish on the pond they have there?

If you go after they close it should be fine. I know they stock them with king salmon during the season. Honestly I've done some of my best fishing in that pond, great place to go swimming and waterskiing too.

The Hiddenbrooke Hills team went above and beyond on my wedding day!…read more Leading up to the wedding, I was honestly pretty anxious since I had been coordinating with multiple vendors and only had about four meetings with the Wedgewood Hiddenbrooke Hills team about the big day. But to my surprise, both the rehearsal and wedding day were completely stress-free! Christina, Taylor, and the entire team truly took care of me and my loved ones from start to finish. And can I just say -- my guests had so much fun! From the overflowing drinks at the bar, the gorgeous and spacious venue, to the amazing food during cocktail hour and dinner -- everything was absolutely perfect. I honestly couldn't have imagined a better day. Thank you so much, Hiddenbrooke Hills team!

Elite Package Ok…read moreit's a long one but if you're going to invest money anywhere I think it could be helpful to make an informed decision. So overall I think the concept and idea of all inclusive planning is cool and can help ease some wedding planning stresses but throughout, I've explained it (when people ask) as a bunch of companies that have decided to partner to work cohesively but mostly to maintain working relationship. You will need to reach out to each vendor and make appointment with them and meet whether face to face or over zooms but aside from wedgewood.. Same as you would if it were not all inclusive. Again what it does however, is gives you dedicated partners that are working closely on a constant basis... we decided to go with wedgewood because we have 1 year old twins and figured it would be a great fit for our situation. The staff are really friendly and extremely nice. You have a good amount of meetings with Wedgewood(maybe 3 plus a binder pick up so 4), in my opinion not too many, but I'm also local. You go through the run down, multiple times of what to expect, what the steps to come are, and how you'd like your day to look. Planning and coordination The day of, leading up to the ceremony, the day was seamless. Maybe an hour or 30 minutes before the ceremony the officiant meets with us in separate rooms (in my opinion too late in the process to iron over last minute details) I expressed a detail I'd liked altered and he gives me push back, to the point where I have to remind him this is my wedding. Floral Florals were nice, however I asked for only greenery on the tables and there were blooms. Also there were supposed to be guttered petals lining the ceremony isle instead there were 4 bags of petals unopened piled at the start of the isle. When I reached out to wedgewood they expressed the florist did not give them any instruction--but again as stated you have multiple meetings over the course of time and it states plainly in the paperwork that is an element of the ceremony Ceremony As the bride I can only speak to when I entered. But there was some issue with walkie talkies that ultimately delayed my entry. The song I was to enter to (I wanted no more than the first 54 seconds to play) was pretty much done after I was driven about 25mph on the back of a golf cart to the ceremony... hunny the hair is getting thrown all over from the wind, I'm holding on in hopes that I'm not thrown, to show up and my song is almost over. At this point ok we're gonna roll with the punches Officially yours I think the officiant thinks we've all come to see him. I kinda had strange vibes in our meeting but I like to trust that people are able to perform in their expertise maybe better than they can explain. We did ask for prayer in our initial and only meeting but a lot more interpretation was given rather than word. Danville bakery I absolutely loved this bakery, the owner was lovely very accommodating and listened to the things that were important to me. We picked up a tasting box and faxed back our request. Again I'm local so no big deal for me iMobile dj The dj was very good he was familiar with our music genre preferences and sound system was good throughout ceremony and reception. We met via zoom he made sure he understood our preferences and what we expected the day to look like, even provided recommendations Buffet capt I didn't have much a a close interaction with the catering staff. I appreciate them making sure all our small guests were served promptly. Even at the end of the night Vicki made sure the groom and I had food to take with us in case we didn't get a chance to enjoy our food due to the days flow. However the next day a lot of guest said they didn't get cake, and these were guest that don't communicate with each other and also no cake was sent back with us. Per the next day response of our coordinator stated each seat had a slice and there wasn't any left... mmm I dunno Our dedicated coordinator left at the beginning of our reception. Kinda strange but aside from cake issues our reception was fire (we had a really good dj) Overall experience I don't plan to have another wedding but if I could do it again I wouldn't necessarily make this route my first option. Again they are really nice but the actual flow of the ceremony needs more dedication. If there is a rehearsal and multiple meetings where we discuss how the day should look, I expect my day to reflect that. Yea things happen but we (if lucky) only get married once, these businesses function daily and could be a lot more fluid. Maybe don't depend on walkie talkies, maybe keep a copy of the plans on hand and make sure detail are covered. At the end of the night we tipped coordinators, dj, buffet capt, and bar tender. Side note: To be fair I reached out the next day expressed my gratitude and asked for possible resolve. I was replied to the next day (folks get busy) and no accountability was taken.

My husband and I regret having our wedding here. I waited months to write this review in hopes that…read moremy anger would subside but I just get more upset the more I think about how poorly this team handled our wedding. I will preface by saying we were refunded a small portion of what we paid due to the numerous errors made by Fairview Metropolitan. We had around 5 meetings here for wedding planning. Each time, the venue tent was so eloquently set up for the weddings or quinces hours in advance. I had so much confidence that our wedding would be treated the same, but it was sloppily thrown together in less than an hour. This venue had another event before our 5pm wedding. I had never seen two events on any of the days that we went in, and was not told that this would happen on our wedding day. It wouldn't have been a problem, I understand they are a business and prioritize profit, however the event before us was still occupying the tent when I got there at 4pm. The manager Shelley told me that they "could not get them to leave". My husband and guests state that the previous event finally vacated the tent around 4:05pm, leaving the team with 55 minutes to sloppily throw together our ceremony and banquet. Shelley informed me that there were three sick calls that day, leaving the management to do the set up. They completely misnumbered the tables, leaving all of our immediate family sitting in the back row. It was THEIR seating chart. With everything going on, we didn't notice until dinner had started. This error is absolutely inexcusable from a wedding venue. Since they only had less than an hour to set up our for our event, my husband and groomsmen offered to help tie the ~135 chair ties and had to stand on a ladder to help place the drapes on the ceremony awning. I don't see how the staff could have completed this without my party's help. Our guests had to wait in the cafe because nothing, including the ceremony chairs, was set up for our wedding until after 4pm. The cafe has limited seating and we had 134 guests. I had so much trust that this team would treat my wedding how I've seen them treat other weddings and quinces. If I had known this was all going on, I would have gone to facilitate and double check their inadequate work. Other major issues: 1. The food service started late and ran out and ended early. We were told there would be enough food for seconds for everyone, so we decided not to bring a lechon and lumpia. Huge mistake. Being from Asian and Hispanic backgrounds, we were completely embarrassed that the food ran out. There was not even enough bread for seconds. We even had 5 no shows so there's no excuse. 2. There were not enough appetizers. Many of our guests did not get any. 3. Our guests were told that the bar could not provide shots. That was not in our contract and alternatives were not offered. 4. The top layer of our cake was saved when it should have been served. This was in our plan, and it just went to waste rather than enjoyed by our guests. 5. They were understaffed by 3, however no one stayed over to accommodate for that. The management left before 8. Because the seating chart got completely misnumbered, there were tables without settings. Our friends had to SHARE FORKS because they could not find any staff. 6. There was no staff to guide our photographers to the banquet room as stated in the event order paperwork. They had to sit on the floor in the corner. So embarrassing 7. The manager didn't allow my husband to set up our DIY Photo Booth, breaking the contract because we should have been able to start setting up at 4. They even told us the day before that we could go at 3:30. This left us without our photo out even set up. My husband had to set it up during the wedding and we didn't have our backdrop. The good things about the venue: 1. Dog friendly 2. Trish was a great coordinator, I wish she could have managed the set up for our wedding instead of Shelley and Angela. My family said that they wouldn't even let her in to set up either and said she looked like the only person who actually care about our wedding. 3. The cake, dj, and flowers were great While the management's response was apologetic, there were so many excuses including "they're human and make mistakes". I understand this, but the numerous significant errors made on our wedding day felt almost intentional. I think the fraction of a refund was just to get me to stop complaining and not escalate the matter. Considering we paid for the elite package for 126 adults and 8 kids in July (most expensive package with highest facility fees), I thought we would've been treated at least as well as the other events that we saw. Fairview Metropolitan fell so short of how I've personally seen them perform and caused us so much embarrassment and shame on from our wedding day. I could never recommend it to anyone. I would say so much more if there wasn't a character limit. Huge thumbs down.

I called AR Weddings N Events one evening around 8:30 PM and AnnaMarie answered - first try! From this first call, I knew in my heart that I found the most amazing wedding coordinator. AnnaMarie is responsive, punctual, resourceful, flexible, kind, and compassionate. And of great importance, she is calm and creates calmness around her.
