What a gem of a local golf shop right down the street from me! I was looking at potentially getting my grips changed or my lie angle on my irons adjusted. AJ hopped on the phone with me and after I explained what I wanted to do, he advised me to do something different. When I brought the club in, he swapped my grip out super quickly. But, he also noticed that the ferrule wasn't flush with the shaft. The iron head had to be resealed. Taylormade doesn't do a great job at it and it happens from time to time with their irons. AJ said he could fix it and let me know it would cost $24.99. Not a bad price considering there's a lifetime warranty with it, he guaranteed that it won't come off. The grip was about $13 and I'm assuming the install was $5. My total for the reseal of the iron and change of grip was about $43. Not too bad considering if I didn't bring it into him, I wouldn't have known my 7i had to be resealed. I very well could've lost my 7i on the course or in the middle of a driving range. Definitely going to AJ for any and all golf related needs in the future! read more

Highly recommend this place, I brought in a 5 iron that broke at the shaft and they had one in stock to replace it and also a 7 iron that needed to be re glued at the shaft to the iron. AJ fixed (re-epoxied) my pitching wedge this morning while I browsed the excellent selection of pre-owned club sets that he has on display. I also wanted to get fitted just to confirm that my existing clubs are the right length for me. He took my measurements and then advised me on my options, encouraging me to stick with my current clubs and just practice and play more frequently before trying new ones. I also took some practice swings with a few irons that i wanted to try out (there's a practice tee in the shop) and purchased a sweet pre-owned Ping driver. AJ is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, and answered all of my curveball questions. This is now my official golf shop. read more

I let him know what I was experiencing with my new set and how the game has gotten less fun with how bad I was playing. After reviewing my swing and seeing where the contact was on the face, he knew immediately what was needed to be adjusted on my irons. There is a reason AJ gets so many 5 star reviews. I went in to ask what do I look for in new irons. He was super informative, not pushy and really broke things down. My clubs were my dads old clubs that I had jus been playing with for a while. I've been playing more often so I wanted to updated my irons. He had the perfect set for me. I was looking to get my irons re-shafted and weigh balanced but was having a hard time finding anyone that was not trained (or lack of training) in a retail outlet...wanted old school knowledge.....well I found it thanks to Yelp. From the minute I walked into the shop, you could tell this place was all business. I was greeted immediately by AJ and I explained what I was looking for. He steered me in all the right directions from weighting, to lie angles too grips. I kid you not, I walked out and 3 days later my entire set to Titleist irons were all ready. My golf coach suggested I have someone check my off-the-rack wedges and have them fit for me. I live close to Pinole so decided to call AJ to see if he could help. He told me to come on in, so I brought my wedges along with my short irons to see what he could do. Within an hour he made some measurements and adjustments to 6 clubs and sent me on my way for just over $100. What was great is that he explained what he was doing, and how it would affect my swing. I was given a set of Taylormade Preferred Irons and Wedges from a friend, who recommended me to have them sized and re-gripped for myself. I came to the shop not sure what I was doing sincr I am a beginner. Mike and especially AJ, were very accommodating and helpful with what I was looking for. He gave me a fair price and I spent less for the used driver, regripped my clubs w very nice winn grips and I spent less money than what I thought I would spend for 1 new driver. He went through my options I went in with the thought of customizing a driver head using my current driver shaft (I had wanted it to match my set) or buying a new club (My personality would be to buy a whole new set that I'm not ready for) or a used driver club. I went in to get my clubs re gripped. I mentioned to AJ that a few of my longer irons were producing more mishits than I expected. He checked the lie on the clubs and they were off compared to the other irons. He was able to adjust the lie and now the clubs are moving through the turf smoothly. To say the least, Aljoe is the man when it comes to setting up clubs for each individual swing. Im a 14 HC, and have been teeing off with a perfectly built Nike 3w he did for me. I've been shying away from a driver for years because I just couldn't hit them. Once I told him the 3w he set up for me worked so well and that I wanted a driver, he knew exactly what he was going to build. I told him I wasn't brand bias, so he picked out the Ping 400g driver head for me, put a proper shaft on, cut it, weighted the head, and my sized grip. I left the next day for a 3 day golf tourney in Mesquite, and not having swung this thing once I was considering leaving it in the bag till I had some practice with it. I hit maybe 3 balls at the range with it and was blown away, I hear my buddy in the bay next me, "Oh no, Im screwed now". I shot an 81 that day to win it and called AJ to thank him the next day! Don't think a factory "stiff" is actually what they say. I will always have every club set up by AJ, no doubts. read more

This place is fantastic. On 1st visit...after waiting for 6 weeks at a big box store to re-tip a driver shaft AJ was able to get it done in a day. I also inquired about some things going on with my putter and he saw some issues with the loft and the grip being off-center. He was able to make adjustments on the spot. On my 2nd visit, I took a putter to get extended for arm-lock putting. While asking about that I asked about some issues I was having hooking the ball due to my lies maybe being off. After discussion, we found that most of the clubs were made wrong from the TaylorMade factory being 1.5 inches too long. He was able to adjust the putter and all my irons in a few hours.
