Ya Tai Spa on New Falls Road, Levittown, is a fairly traditional Chinese massage house that…read morespecializes in elaborate foot massage and Tui Na whole body stretching and meridian massage. They take health safety seriously, and wear masks at all times. Prices are about a buck a minute, so an hour massage runs $60; a 90 minute stay with hot stones (dry) and hot towels (wet), $90. I recommend the longer traditional body work as it provides ample time for deep relaxation, and even a nap in the midst of all the heavy hands being applied by the skilled masseuse. True, the elbows in the trapezius and sciatic notch will wake you up with a jolt, but the release of stress is almost immediate. The hot stones and towels may burn a little at first application, but they cool quick enough to leave no scar, and quickly relax the long held tension in muscles, tendons and ligaments. The final 20 minutes are spent on your feet, and those prying fingers and fists digging into the sole will either cause a temporary spasm or slowly make you love your feet again. Very worth the self indulgence ever now and then. A word about tips. Tipping is expected after the session. The normal gratuity is about $20 per hour, and $10 per half hour thereafter. It is not uncommon to tip more for a particularly good experience. These folks split the house charge with management, and they depend on your generosity to survive and support their families. So, to avoid any unpleasantness as you leave, be prepared to pay what is customary and build it into your cost calculations. If this is bothersome to you; do yourself a favor and don't go. Stick with the more expensive American chains that won't be insistent to avoid the mishugas.

Every masseuse there is great. Tell them what's been bothering you and they will customize the massage to focus on your problem areas. There a big sign that says " NO LESS THAN 20% TIP"!! You can't tell people how to tip. It's a "gratuity" meaning if I the customer enjoyed my service from the person providing it I have the "option" to tip more or as my budget will allow. IT'S RUDE TO DEMAND MONEY AFTER I PAID FOR THE INCOMPLETE MASSAGE. Why do I say it was incomplete? Well I have had over 100 massages. A complete massage includes the back and front of your body massaged in oil or lotion. Unless it is a type of massage service that requires you to keep your clothes on, like Thai Massage. Today I had my massage, I was laying face down, the massage on my back was amazing. I did not ask for hot stones and it was performed. I don't like hot stones, and these were hott. My back still feels like its burning. I will have to check to see if my skin stays on. The back of my legs got a light massage with oil. I turned over to my back and the therapist did my neck for about 2 mins, a light facial massage and a head massage. Then she did my feet about 5 mins. Next I heard " Finish".....I said what? she said " you finish" Notice I did not mention she massaged my arms or my legs on the front. I got out side and the guy at the desk asked me how was the massage. I explained what happened, he asked her in Chinese and she responded in Chinese. Then he told me she said she did full body massage. I told the guy, she can speak English just fine I don't need a translator. Its not fair that you two wants to discuss what happened in your language. She then proceed to tell me what happened and that she massaged my whole body. I showed her my dry arms no lotion or oil. When I started to walk away after I paid my $55, the front desk guy said in a loud voice " excuse me you not tip her" I said in a louder voice ' NO! LOOK AT MY ARMS AND LEGS! NO OIL, THE JOB WAS NOT FINISHED, DO I LOOK HAPPY? A HAPPY CUSTOMER GIVES A TIP, I AM NOT HAPPY"!!!!!! HE YELLED AT ME IN CHINESE WHILE I WAS WALKING OUT OF THE BUILDING.....no clue what he said tho. My last thoughts get what you pay for, half the price, half the massage, half the service. Totally a recession massage. By the way I did not see any license either. Never going back to this place has very poor customer service.

Very odd experience…read more I called saying I had a Groupon when I scheduled the appointment and when I checked in the woman told me she didn't need to see it until after the massage. Place was very clean, lots of rooms, the massage therapist introduced herself and was nice although hard to understand with limited English. I was a little confused that there were large towels instead of blankets or sheets but I went with it. The pressure was very intense and I had to keep telling her to go easier. It felt more like a deep tissue massage, or even more like physical therapy then a relaxing experience and I kept tensing up asking her to use less pressure. At one point a guy who was an employee (I assume) opened the door to my room and had a full 5 minute conversation with the lady doing my massage WHILE she was working in me. Very awkward. At the end when I was getting dressed I noticed a weird sign on the wall -"this is a professional spa please don't ask sexual related questions" -what?!!! That was very creepy and I'm kind of glad I didn't see it until the end. Worst part was checking out, the massage therapist said she had to "call the boss" because she didn't know how to use the groupon. The boss is screaming into the phone (I can hear it from across the counter) and she gets on speaker phone and tells me very rudely that she doesn't have a contract with groupon anymore and she's not taking it and it's not her problem. I had to call Groupon from the lobby and they gave me a credit and I had to pay for the full massage. Not again.

This review is after giving 4 good chances. Customer service-wise they're pretty good. Regarding…read morethe actual message....not so much. My experience summed up 1. I was cold majority of the massage. The lotion application is cold and not warmed upon application beyond rubbing between her hands for a moment. Then she used a warmly damp towel that quickly cooled by time it was rubbed on my other arm (she wipes both arms and both legs). Now imagine cold lotion, cold, damp towel and the AC). I couldn't wait to get outside in the humidity. 2. After complaining about being cold (lol I know right), the hot stones that were applied were so hot!!!!! Like way hot! 3. Not a relaxing experience. There's a whole lot of intense pounding and beating. It hurt more than anything. I was up the entire 90 minutes. The final irk was when she picked both of my legs up in the air and dropped them 3 times. WTH?!? Who's idea was that?!? Her elbow was in my spine at one point during the back massage and I woke up this morning with soreness all along my back. 4. My door was opened most of the service so the phone ringing and answering made it hard to zone out in addition to the intense pressure. 5. I'm not a big fan of starting and stopping, exiting and entering the room mid massage and that still being deducted from my 90 minutes. Yeah well that happened frequently. 6. Language barrier
