I arrived at 10:45 a.m. for my 11:00 a.m. appointment. I scheduled this appointment three months prior to the actual date of the appointment and I reconfirmed the appointment on June 9th on the Premiere Healthcare automated e-mail I received. When I arrived at Dr Shadle's office, the waiting room staff was downright rude to me. I asked where Dr. Shadle, was since I fasted for over 14 hours for this appointment. The response I received regarding his whereabouts was "He had stuff to do" To Dr Shadle's waiting room staff it was no big deal that I fasted for 14 hours prior to my appointment, they didn't even try to get me to someone that could draw my blood. Dr Shadle's staff did try to reschedule for two weeks later on June 25th, but I indicated that I would be on vacation. This for an appointment I already scheduled three months prior to this date. The next available appointment according to their staff was six weeks out. I indicated to Dr Shadle's staff that "I was firing Dr Shadle as my physician". I require a Doctor that actually takes his patients health seriously, not a doctor that "has other stuff to do". I again asked for a real reason, Dr. Shadle, wasn't in the office (I had just driven 45 minutes in traffic to his office). His staff reiterated that "He had stuff to do" . The Premier Healthcare Staff further berated me for not having a cell phone (I do have a cell phone, however, I have provided my Work and Home Phone numbers, I would hope he would make a vigilant effort to contact me since they are canceling an appointment. Contact me on my work number during work hours and home phone during before 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m. hours). I am vigilant about taking the required medication and always following my doctor's guidelines regarding medication and making sure I attend all doctor's appointments as scheduled. After looking at her computer, looking again, she finally let me not pay and said billing would send me an invoice. saw the nurse, she took one look at me and said we don't treat hair loss or menopause symptoms. She can refer me to dermatology or OB. that's it. 1 minute of her time. Who saw a doctor or nurse for 1 min? she gave me a piece of paper with derms names and phone numbers on it, presumably so they can collect referral fee from the derms. Then when I was inside treatment /consult room waiting for the nurse to come, the receptionist came to me and said "I was able to see, yes you are supposed to pay $15", she brought the payment machine with her. I paid. Whoa, I've never been to a doctor practice who would even chase me to the treatment room to ensure I pay. If they don't treat hair loss, why bother making me come to their office. My physician, Dr. Benigar is absolutely brilliant and has made my goal around stability, and my mental health, completely possible when I thought I had reached a dead end. The Salience Health, legacy location, also happens to have primary care physicians available when accepting new patients. I felt that having a PCP in the same office as my psychiatrist would not only be convenient, but extremely beneficial due to the automatic communication between my two physicians. I've had many doctors over the years due to a genetic condition I was born with, and the positive experiences I have had at Salience has surpassed a lifetime of often negative experiences dealing with the healthcare system. My genetic condition can't be seen. It is not obvious to anyone that looks at me so I have often been treated like a naïve, young, and exaggerating patient. Salience has never treated me this way and my health is better for it.
