These people are all about their Billings and nothing about about mental health. Their phone system is terrible so calling in is always an ordeal. I attempted to call in to change an appointment. After calling all day, I got through and changed the appointment for a couple days later. They charged me $100 for missing my appointment and not calling in, which clearly I did. When I refused to pay the $100, they forced the credit card I have on file there without my knowledge or consent! Now I'm overdrawn and my mental health has tanked due to this ordeal. That's not heath care, that's greed. That's just wrong! Go with a practice that actually cares about your healthcare, and not your ability to pay. Genuinely the most incompetent staff I've had the displeasure to deal with. The actual doctors are great but their support staff is awful. I would never want anyone to deal with them especially if they have mental health issues. They would tell me I could do virtual visits because I moved to Denton, then last minute drop a line saying "yeah company policy says you have to be in person." I should've been notified when scheduling the appointment that it was changed to in person. It's always a pain in the ass trying to get your medicine refilled as well. It sucks that such good psychiatrists are being held back by such incompetent support staff. read more

I have been a patient with Salience for a few years now and like many on here have noticed that in the past year they've begun unethical billing practices. For years my bill was $71 each appt as I only require psychiatrist medication management. The last 2 appointments they have charged me over 125 due to "15 mins of psychotherapy" being added to my appointment. I told them the first time this happened that they must have made a mistake because I don't do therapy there, I can't afford it. In fact I discussed with Dr Moomah at that same appointment that I was under a lot of financial stress. He gave me the advice to investigate and practice coping mechanisms and to put my child to bed 30 mins earlier. Then charged me $60 dollars for therapy. When I brought this to the front office's attention they said I was given a quote, signed a form, and they couldn't do anything because he coded that he provided "15 mins of psychotherapy". They said if he spent an extra 15mins with me they had to be charge for it. So this appointment I made an effort to not ask any questions and keep my my answers short and to the point so as not to take up his time. He wouldn't shut up about how important it is to get my kid to bed earlier, after I told him that wasnt important to me and then charged me again for 15 mins of psychotherapy. I am now cancelling my next appointment and looking for a doctor/office who is not dishonest with billing practices, and trying to get the most money out of you possible. FOR THE RECORD I avoid making negative reviews for medical offices because HIPPA prevents them from responding publicly. But I made an exception because I believe this office is taking advantage of patients and charging them fraudulently. After reading other recent reviews here, I know they do unethical billings like this regularly. Please go elsewhere unless you have insurance that covers all costs or you have extra money to waste. @Missy B I already addressed this with your team and they were unhelpful. I have been a patient with Salience/Bent Tree for about 18 months. When I first visited them it was a time of crisis for me. During my initial visits they suggested I try CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), I told them that I couldn't afford that therapy if it was not covered by my health insurance. The nurses assured me that all i would be out of pocket was my copay. Fast forward to my tenth session and I get a phone call stating that I owe this provider over $1000. To say I was shocked is an understatement. The office staff informed me that my provider was out of network and the therapy would not be covered. At that point I told them that was something they would have to eat. I was more than willing to cover my copay, but was assured that this provider would be In-network. That was it, each time I went back for my psychiatry appointments for the next year the office staff would ask if I wanted to pay any of that debt. I would tell them no and pay my copay. However, on December 23, 2024 they took $386 dollars out of my bank account, then again on December 31, 2024 they took another $500. I have called them and asked them to stop charging me, and their response is that I signed a waiver to have those charges made against me when I signed up with them. They just take what they want. It doesn't matter if it was their mistake I have to pay for it. For a company that prides itself on patient outcomes this is despicable. This puts me in serious financial jeopardy. Stay away!!! If any doctors office requires you to keep your payment information on file so they can charge it look for a new doctor! read more

I have had my psychiatrist changed 3 times in the last 3 months. I was never told beforehand. One time, they changed my appointment time too without asking for my say in it. They constantly refer you to other departments, instead of actually helping. My psychiatrist had to lower one of my meds, not because the dose was dangerous, but because that med doesn't usually help with my condition. But it has for 4+ years. I have to pay my meds out of pocket, because they won't fill out prior authorization requests. I have severe social anxiety, but psychiatrists keep upselling me on group therapy. They barely listen to you. It's just upselling and referrals. They require drug tests, and force you to take long expensive tests, even if you've done them before, just to prove you need the meds that have helped you function for years. They do not respect patients here. They don't respect your time. They don't care about your health. I wasted 6 months here that I could have spent improving my health. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Patience, be warned. My physician (PCP) for more than 7 years moved his practice to Bent Tree, now known as Salience Health, a few years ago. While I do like my physician, the organization has major issues. I'm not excited to start searching for a new physician, but the time has come. I am worn out trying to make Salience Health work. Issues Time I don't know why they have a set schedule (time) when you will wait to see your physician. I have lost count of the wait times over 20 minutes. I even had one appointment where the wait was over an hour. If you're late, they will cancel your appointment and charge your insurance. The clients should be able to charge Salience Health for the wait times. Referrals Now, that is a joke. It is now February had a kidney stone in October and need to see a Urologist. I was added to the physician's schedule for a December visit where he would discuss kidney stones and a referral to a Urologist. The referral never happened. In January, I had a second kidney stone and once again requested a referral to a Urologist. I am still holding my breath for the referral. Communication Never use the device known as a telephone; it becomes a game of Whac-A-Mole with the staff and assistants. Conclusion I guess that Salience Health would like me to take a journey with them on my mental health, being that they have been regressing my mental health. Automated message says "there are zero callers ahead of you" meanwhile no one answers and the message continues to repeat. He also neglected my PCP need and then wrote me a message to my HORROR informing me he sexualized me when looking at a rash on my thigh- but he did it by blaming ME. "You pulled ur dress up higher than necessary and made me uncomfortable" SICK!!!!!!!!!! I had to show a DOCTOR my rash. IMO thats predator behavior as a doctor in medical setting. Not a very good relatable place for the best psychiatrists or mental health. Support staff such as nurses, schedulers or labs are very bad with communication. You can send them multiple emails and never get a response. When medications due they want you to send in a refill through the portal. Which is very easy however NO confirmation that anyone's working on it or that they received it. I've done this a handful of times and not once did it work properly. You end up scrambling to find someone to help you after days go by thinking they are doing their jobs..... now your out of medications and withdrawing. Smart Health does nothing to help you except to make you seem like a bully and they're victims. As a veteran they used this against me whenever they could. Meaning they would use keywords to make it seem they are afraid of someone they've never met face to face. They play victim because they would rather okay victim than to actually help you - it's easier for them. They cannot take care of veteran PTSD symptoms or sleep issues. They refer you out so why come here if they refer you to another medical facility $$$$&. Please just stay away from Smart Health unless your desperate for help and if you are this desperate I'm sorry for you because it's going to add additional stress on to you. read more

Although I have not been in crisis for about 20 years, I have experienced additional stress over the last two years. Dr. Benigar tweaked my meds effectively. This is a facility where you have to go through a lot of revolving doors of practioneers!! Honestly, they make you feel guilty about your anxiety or mental health. They require random drug testing, which I have no problem with, just makes you feel like you're on probation or something. I'd say unless you're willing to go through a lot of nurse PA's who are uncaring, find a different facility to care for your mental health. Total shit. I had the wonderful privilege of having the FOURTH Psychiatrist, Dr. Kimberly Jones completely fuck-up an appointment for a basic refill. She was more focused on upselling services instead of just refilling my medications. When I called to complain and have the situation rectified, she effectively forced me to return to the office to pay for a second appointment to have my medications corrected. I called this shit organization for over six months to have them correct the bill they overbilled me by $100.00, only to have them ignore me and threaten to send me to collections. I paid $200.07 thanks to this incompetent Doctor, and then she decides to send me a certified letter after I've already moved to West Virginia to inform me she won't be practicing as my doctor. I guess it costs a ton of money to click "open" on a zoom meeting? These people are hacks and do NOT care about patients or their health! Go elsewhere. read more

I followed my psychiatrist to this practice as I'd been seeing him for years and didn't want to go through the process of finding a new doctor anytime soon. I hate having to request my refills through the form on their site every month - almost every month there's a long delay, and like other reviewers have said, you don't get any actual confirmation that they received it... several times I'd chatted to someone from the front desk only to find out "they didn't receive any refill requests"'even though I submitted the form more than once. When I did try to be proactive and submit the form early they would tell me it's too early - DUH but there's always a problem when I submit it "on time". I've been without one of my medications now for 2 weeks and sadly this is a common occurrence. I didn't have this issue with the old practice my doctor used to be with. read more

Terrible business practices. The 2-stars is only because I actually like my physician. Salience will charge you every month for a medication refill, which would be fine if it wasn't originally supposed to be sent over with 2-refills remaining. Rx's are always wrong. I'm repeatedly having to straighten it out. Nine times out of ten you are improperly billed for something, yet the patient is penalized. I wrote a much longer review but I guess I didn't hit save ? I have been going there for a year as well as a close family member. I'll admit there was some communication issues between the message center and the medical assistant- however - we have had some really tough times in my family - and my communication was very frantic in some of the calls. I will say- the Doctor, Social Worker, Medical assistant and Nurse Practitioner/ all worked together to help solve some of our situations that had taken a turn for the worse a few times. SMW is not as bad as some of the reviews claim. They may have had some issues with organization and misdirected phone calls - but if you provide feedback - they will rectify the situation. I also used Salience via SMW -for TMS and it was a very positive experience and has helped me greatly. They handled everything and helped process through insurance . It is difficult, very difficult to find a good mental health facility - and people who understand mental illness - if you are looking for a place - I recommend SMW. If there is an error with scheduling, billing or you feel you need more medical attention - you need to communicate this to them. They will work to assist you. , but you have to give them the feedback to give them a chance! read more

My wife has been a patient of SHWC since June 2020 with NOTHING but HORRIBLE experiences from the staff (minus her NP). For an in person appointment, the staff were not knowledgeable about the reason for the appointment, repeatedly asking her why she was there. The copay charged was double the actual copay for our insurance, and when she left before the appointment even began (after being in a patient room for 45 minutes without anyone coming in even to apologize for the delay) she asked for her money back, and had to remind the front desk of the amount that she paid! Every single telehealth appointment begins with an intake which I completely understand, however, the attitude of the intake staff when asking the questions, and completing the intake is absolutely unacceptable! She has been called a liar, been given attitude and spoken to in a completely derogatory tone. Not only that - genetics testing was completed after one of her first appointments. The results were supposed to take approximately 45-90 days. Every so often she called for an update and was told that they were still in process and would have the results soon. 90 days later, my wife had to call to follow up as the office had not provided any type of update. Upon calling it was brought to our attention that the sample had NOT BEEN LABELED, and therefore was unusuable. At no point would this have been brought to our attention if we had not followed up ourselves. She then had to go back, give ANOTHER sample, and wait an additional 90 days after being told the test would be expedited, as it was their error. Feedback from other patients is terrifying - while in the lobby for an in person appointment, a patient was visibly having a panic attack and no staff were assisting them in any way other than having them wait. Another patient was heard complaining that this was his 3rd visit where his doctor no showed for his appointment, and all he wanted was help! This is no way to treat people with mental health concerns that are actively seeking help! That is hard enough, without all of these additional beat downs and barriers thrown in their way! The only thing good about Smart Health is Lisa Beaver, NP. Unfortunately, she is no longer continuing with the company. She has been a god send! Lisa is kind, understanding, compassionate, and takes the time to listen to her patients - the ONLY person in this company who ever listened. She goes out of her way to assist her patients no matter how difficult the situation. I am sad to see her go, but am so happy that she is able to get out of the SHWC company and do better for herself! My wife will be following her wherever she goes! Do yourself a favor, read the reviews, especially the YELP reviews. They are an absolutely accurate representation. It's pretty sad that a mental health clinic has such horrible reviews, and that people have had such horrible experiences. This type of treatment should not be allowed to continue. I waited over an hour after my appointment to even talk to my doctor, and when I did she acted suspicious as if I was lying about my mental state and didn't listen when I expressed concerns about having the wrong diagnosis. It would be nice to have a provider for more than 1 or 2 visits. there is something wrong with this facility for practitioners to be leaving over & over. I was with Lisa Beavers NP for several years but she left so I was then randomly assigned to Badia Harlin NP (whom was not a good fit at all). I demanded I have a say in who I saw and selected Kim for her years of experience in field. After only 2 appts. she leaves the practice too! I again am RANDOMLY assigned to someone yet again with no input (ridiculous). So now I get Melissa Do PA whom at the end of our FIRST visit tells me she too is LEAVING this practice and even suggest I might ask my PCP to fill my meds. Salience seems totally unreliable to provide or maintain providers to establish any type of relationship between patients & providers for long term care as what is expected for mental health as this is a lifelong process. To say this has been a disappointing & frustrating is an understatement. You are failing to meet your patients needs and it appear from the high employee turnover you are failing to meet their needs as well. read more

I really like that they have neurology, primary care and psychiatry. All of my needs in one location. They have a lot of different tests that you can do to really get to the root problem/diagnosis. They look at the whole picture of your health instead of just one piece. read more

Smart Health and Wellness Center, 6839 Communications Parkway in Plano, took over my prior mental health facility. Since then I've been bounced around to three separate providers, two of whom are nurse practitioners. They are both fine people but cannot write my prescriptions with refills for a 6-month period. Therefore I'm forced to go every 3 months in person instead of every 6 months, which was the schedule I've been on for the last 5 years prior to now. I requested to see a Dr instead. I was told that request will not be open to me and I clarified by asking, "are you saying I have no option to choose the type of provider I see?" The reply from Melissa was, "that's correct." They chose a provider type for me and that's my only option!!! I have to stay in the box they put me in and I cannot chose another box. Isn't that like going to a restaurant and being told they have chosen the food type for me and I can accept it or not, but I cannot choose to change it? That's not the way to build a Dr/patient relationship. Perhaps the bean counters decided it's the best approach financially for the business and apparently, the patient, is simply a cog in the wheel. No thank you. I've been dealing with this for more than a year. I have one physician, who I really love, move his practice here in January. I have found their practice to be very efficient and personable. Today was my follow up visit with him and I also had a new patient visit with a new PCP. Again, I had a very positive experience. Their patient portal is very easy to use, every practice has guidelines to follow re: missed appointments, most charge for them since their time is their "commodity". I have really enjoyed my experience with this practice and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Healthcare Fraud. My first visit at this office was May 2019. Dr. C was lovely but she left in December 2019. I've now had 3 different NPs since then even though they charge me the same rate as a Psychiatrist visit. The turnover rate is extremely high. There's no possible way to get adequate care because you can't even build relationships with the nurse/doctor. Dr. Tahseen Shahzad, specifically, has no clue. She doesn't listen to your problems. She just writes prescriptions. I tried to ask for a different physician and escalate my concerns with the poor care I was receiving and I have yet to get resolution. I've been told 4 times that someone will return my call to assist me and I have not received a call back. Ultimately, they made me book an appointment to have paperwork filled out for reasonable accommodations, charged me for said appointment, and never completed the task. Then, they advised me to find a new doctor to help me because they don't complete reasonable accommodation paperwork. This is a complete lie because Dr. C assisted me when she was there and that was the entire point of the appointment. And do you know how sketchy it would be for me to find a new doctor now and ask them to fill out paperwork for me during our first visit. Not to mention, new patients are waitlisted for weeks!! Once again, health-care fraud. I do not advise of anyone to seek care at this facility. You will surely need drugs and therapy after the stress and frustration that they will put you through. I will be researching and filing complaints in every area that I am able to prove wrongdoing. And if I could give them zero stars, I would. After calling 4 times without being able to get through to anyone, I finally got Sherri on the phone and set up an appointment for today at 1:20. I gave her all my info. Showed up and was told, very rudely, by the front desk person that my appointment was for 12:20 and she had just marked me as a no-show. I had an email from Sherri confirming the time which she demanded to see. Told me the doctor was booked and offered to reschedule another day, said she was going to call Sherri and tell her what she did. Like it makes any difference now. I really needed to see someone today, I'm trying really hard to do the right thing to take care of myself. But this obviously isn't the place, all they care about is churning people in and out. I must get through primary care physician according to my insurance. 2 months later I still haven't seen the new doctor nor any referrals. Called, they kept telling me to go the ER. Smart Health and Wellness Center is a hidden gem for regressing your mental health. There is nothing about this place that is "Smart" other than the financial scheme they prey upon humans who need help. There is nothing about this place that will bring you "Wellness". You're going to have to get past front of house staff that are paid minimum wage and, rightfully so, don't care to be there. Then, you'll most definitely be sold on a medication and elaborate testing that will in no way change your plan of care, just line the pockets of this establishment. You'll be lucky if you actually meet a doctor, and, if you do, it's a revolving door of doctors in this place. I'm assuming they go through some sort of crisis of conscience by working here, as it completely negates their vow to the medical establishment. It 100% will pay their medical school bills though! Regrettably I thought that such a place could never operate with existing state and federal regulations...but it does. If you are in the 1% of patients who only need a prescription and that's all you need, then I recommend coming here. Mind you, it may take 10-15 time's of calling the staff back, leaving a message, calling again, leaving a message, as it's an act of Congress to get said prescription filled, but rest assured, the NP will want their kick back from the pharmaceutical company, so you will eventually get the prescription. It may take 60-90 days to get the prescription filled, but, it will be filled. I wish I had never come here and trusted this establishment with my money and time. Awful communication with this doctor's office front desk in Plano. Starting with the front desk employees: Lindsey, Jillian, and Tiffany. I will say Tiffany was the ONLY one who relayed back the most accurate information until I was able to speak with Brooke who THEN clarified what the front desk should have communicated with me to begin with. As stated to all of them my issue was extremely time sensitive, I still waited over 6 hours for a phone call, checking back 3 times with the office throughout the day, advising me that someone will be in contact back with you. Tired of waiting since my matter is time sensitive I called the office only to find out my doctor doesn't provide such a thing??!!! Brooke's exact words "Yeahhh.. The doctor's not just going to prescribe you something just because YOU think something is wrong you" I to had to reiterate AGAIN my issue and she then continues to tell my problem is an ER / Urgent care matter. SO MY QUESTION.. WHY DID I HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG FOR SOMETHING THE FRONT DESK SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME TO BEGIN WITH? WHY AM I REACHING OUT AT 8:30AM TO FIND OUT AT 3PM THE DOCTORS DOESN'T PROVIDE THEM? LINDSEY, JILLIAN, TIFFANY need to know it the ins and outs better. Lindsey had the audacity to tell me not be hostile on a mistake SHE MADE, no apology or anything! Don't ever tell a existing patient to not be hostile when you've provided incorrect information that should be KNOWN to you. I know we are all human and human errors happen but the way this doctors office dealt with my issue was unprofessional and not connecting me to Dr. Dar, I will never step foot back in that office again. Called to seek medical attention and never got calls back(this has happened multiple times now)Then they say they have a doctor on call but yet no doctor will ever call you back. They use a phone answering service on the weekend of people who know nothing about medications or how to spell anything. Most of them couldn't even pronounce the office name. Self pay and they want to see you every 2 weeks to month to change any of your medications or add more. Then they want to tell you that you can't change your medication on your own even though a medical book says otherwise. Then they refilled the wrong medication and sent it to the pharmacy... do they not even look into your file before approving a refill? Very disappointed in the service as well as the doctor. Most doctors will work with you if you are self pay. Not this terrible place. All they are after is money. They prescribed me 1000 dollar a month medication when I had no insurance knowing it was that expensive. Just terrible all around. read more

Had several issues with our visit there. We brought our son there for some testing to figure out best course of action for ADD and things did not go well. We had an appointment for a blood draw, UA, and a CNS computer test and he took the UA then the CNS test. After the CNS test he was returned to the waiting room where we waited for the blood draw but no one ever called him back for that. After a bit of sitting there I got up to talk to the receptionist to ask when his blood draw was going to be and everyone was gone. Literally everyone. Knocked on doors and no one answered, yelled into the reception area, nothing. Everyone left. We left as well and called the next day to figure out if we needed to come back for the blood draw and we did have to come back at a later date for that. The next issue was with our appointment to discuss the results of the testing. We met with Consuela who clearly had not looked at any of his results until she was on the video chat with us. There was no discussion of what any of the blood work or UA showed, we had to ask questions to find out what some of the numbers were. She didn't bring up the CNS test results, didn't explain what any of it meant, what we should do about it, nothing. Just wanted to put our son back on a stimulant and that was all. We specifically searched for a place to take our son that had psychiatric care so we could discuss more than just taking drugs and that didn't happen. Should have just taken him back to his normal pediatrician and saved a bunch of money and time. You shouldn't advertise that you provide treatment for ADD/ADHD if you aren't really going to do anything about it other than prescribe drugs. read more
