There are doctors that do laser also but not covered by my insurance. Dr. Roberg was friendly, and took the time to give me some other options. We also discussed my hammertoe problem and he gave me an option that I didn't know about. As to the fungus-he and a dermatologist created a product that is kind of a combo of some kind of anti fungus and superglue that goes on like a nail polish and stops the fungus in its tracks. It has worked perfectly. My nails didnt fall off because I got in there quickly and the nails are growing back very well with no sign of fungus---hooray! In a couple of months I'll be back to (safely) getting pedicures! After the first of the year I plan on getting the hammertoe surgery on both feet (one is the traditional treatment, one is the quicker recovery). My plan is to be back wearing high heels (not too high) before summer..hooray!

The "alleged" tumor was my knee replacement surgery! Of course he didn't listen, but offered to sell me an over the counter tube of salve for $30. I walked out, and never set foot there again. One has to wonder if the good Dr. Gifford really knows what goes on in her practice!

Some people, who aren't product designers or afficionados of excellent design only see them as old equipment... Being an engineer and product designer, I see them more as the equivalent of Herman Miller office furniture that's been used everyday and lovingly cared for ! The GRACEFUL crank mechanisms and EASILY adjusted head and foot rests show the patina of daily careful use, but the cushions and contact surfaces are new and clean. A Steam Punk fan would LOVE some of his equipment, but it's all REAL and the pinnacle of GRACEFUL mechanical engineering. I'm 6'4" and 240# and his treatment chair moved me up and down with a simple and apparently easy crank of a handle ! That's amazing to me ! I have to investigate that mechanism next time ! His office building is also a study in old school efficiency ! It's one of those post war fast construction building kits that were once very common in California. It's very "green" in old school ways - extremely minimal materials used for esthetics, it's all just functional. Yes, the walls and doors are thin and do not fully block all sounds, but the do muffle normal conversation for privacy. His office is new and old school. It works extremely efficiently in my experience ! It's not ALL on computer, but the important things are. He even still has a TYPEWRITER to quickly fill out paper forms ! Amazing sense of what ACTUALLY WORKS. OK, the office really does need a fresh coat of paint on the walls and doors, but he's got TWO more degrees, UCLA, BA in BACTERIOLOGY-Medical, and another degree IN BIOLOGY, so I trust that the current old paint job has absolutely nothing threatening ! As a doctor - he's talented and very gracefully with his various scalpels and callus Grinders toenail clippers toenail grinders Etc. I'll bet he's an excellent podiatric surgeon. He's also very caring and is careful to recommend the proper things for a diabetic like me. He's also kind to keep me and my wife informed on ongoing care required. He's also excellent at giving referrals to other excellent doctors when required. Call his office, he often answers the phone if he's available. Seems like he'd be an excellent person to work for. But I think he rarely needs one, and prefers to have his patients visit a quick radiology department where the x-rays will be read by a Radiologist as well. Reading X-Rays is really a very specialized skill, and having a Radiologist interpret them is a great idea. Also, X-Ray machines are definitely newer IS better, and the newest are fantastic and fantastically expensive too ! I'm glad he doesn't need to have several more patients a day just to pay for a rarely used X-Ray machine !

Agility drills, Jumping and pivoting were starting to become painful enough to start being cautious about it. I'm cursed with poor foot genetics unfortunately, as both my parents have Hallux Valgus aka The Big Bad Bunion! There are MANY options to choose for foot care in Ventura County, so how do you whittle your selection down to one??? Dr. Nguyen came highly recommended by many of the hospital staff that worked with him. My wife also had previous appointments with him, and appreciated his knowledge and bedside manner. Okay, sounds like a good place to start :) Turns out, Dr. Tim Nguyen is one of the kindest and pleasant doctors I've ever met, and a great knowledge base as well! I was well taken care of during all my visits, and once it was decided I needed Surgical Correction, I was comfortable with that choice. So surgery was performed at St. John's Outpatient Surgery Center in Oxnard. Dr. Nguyen gave me instructions to prepare for surgery and also received a call from St. John's the day before, on what to expect and more instructions. The St. John's Staff is WONDERFUL! Kind, skilled, definite examples of their motto, "Human Kindness." My Anesthesiologist was also a Dr. Nguyen, so I was in a "Nguyen-Nguyen" situation! (Get it??? Win-Win! Hah!) Dr. Tim Nguyen repeated all his plans for my surgery to Wifey & me again, answered all new questions, then off I went! Surgery went well, woke up with no pain, and didn't remember a thing of anything that happened in surgery suite or recovery. I sure felt like a VIP my entire stay (from what I remember). I actually didn't need the narcotics prescribed during the entire recovery. Six weeks later I am back to walking normally. Yay! Now gotta burn off all excess weight gain... Doh! EASY RECOMMENDATION!
