After previously bringing my dog to them the night before, my dog had a drastic health change where he was severely limp, weak, and unresponsive. When I came in with my dog in my arms, they immediately took him and brought him to the back to give him fluids and run tests on him. After several hours there (approximately 4-5 hours) they highly suggested that he stay for a 24 hour observation due to a possible genetic diagnosis of Addison's disease. They communicated properly and were understadning about our countless questions. They were patient and caring to myself and my family about this traumatizing time. They promised to give my dog the best care there was. They never had issues with our countless calling and asking questios throughout my dog's stay. Our dog's doctor was really kind and professional. She was direct about our dog's prognosis but was not rude or malicious. I know there are people here that may not have had a good experience with them. But, just based off this one emergency, I would say that if your pet is ever in need of help, Blue Pearl in Forest Hills would be one of my recommedations. Thank you Dr. Schreffler and the staff for saving my precious dog, Shadow! HOWEVER, although this glowing review highlights the kindness, professionalism, and hardworking staff of Blue Pearl, there was one negative expereince through it all. Myself and my family have all agreed that the nurse Emily was completely rude and unprofessional. I understand that someone who works in this enviornment is used to these types of emergencies and may sometimes become desensitized to these occurences. However, the pets and owners who come in here seeking help do not expereience this all the time. We look for compassion, understanding, and patience. We took my cat there because she was breathing heavy and stopped eating suddenly. We went in expecting the worst. We spoke with the doctor and came up with a game plan and the vet tech comes in with an estimate and yells out, "So who has the big bucks?" She proceeds to say, "Well, you probably need some time to think it over," and we said no, we already spoke with the vet. Then she questions why we would spend so much money treating a 12-year-old cat! We were wondering what the hell kind of place hires someone this unprofessional to deal with the public? Our cat indeed expired. We brought her in at 6pm and she passed at 10pm. The bill was high, which we expected as she was in critical condition, but an "overnight vet fee" of more than $230 for a 4-hour stay, which was not overnight, was insulting. We questioned the receptionist and she offered to have their finance team call us to discuss it. Then we were informed that they misplaced (but later found) her carrier. Their cremation fee is also $150 more than charged by my local vet. I sent a follow up complaint via their online form, but no one has called us to explain the bill and it's been a week. The worst part is we have another cat that sees a cardiologist there so we have to go back and regularly deal with them.

I brought my 15 year old cat for a check up because he had been losing alot of weight and I needed to know why. I understood that he could be "difficult" to deal with, but I was shocked that I had to bring him back a second time and authorize sedation in order for blood to be drawn. Since I wasn't in the exam room, I don't know exactly how freaked out he was, but I was surprised, that after dosing him with gabapentin, he was still too "feisty". I mean, he's not feral, for gosh sakes! I've had him forever and he's a love. Oh well. Blood was drawn under sedation and all is well. Despite the drama, I DO recommend this veterinary practice. It is a clean, well-run, professional place to bring your fur babies.

One of my dogs just had dental there with extractions, the staff text me during the procedure and Dr. Karandikar called me and explained what she had seen on X-rays and how she would proceed. I was then given updates, told when he was out of surgery and then the doctor called again. I've had dogs my whole life who had their teeth cleaned and extracted and I never had up-to-date info or the vet calling me before and after surgery!! I'm really impressed! Every doctor that we have seen here has been absolutely great, patient, caring and took time to explain everything. They have gotten me in same day when last minute things pop up. I also love the waiting room, which is nice and open, so you are not sitting across from other dogs-- my dogs are a little reactive to other dogs and I like to grab the far corner and keep their focus off of the other dogs coming and going. I totally trust them with my dogs, and trust their advice and recommendations. I also really appreciate that I can get the dogs nails cut here too.

Dr. Sharkawy came in on his day off to do the surgery. He charged such a reasonable price and delivered the highest quality of care I have ever seen. He sat with me and my husband and explained the surgery in detail, even drawing us pictures to make sure we fully understood. He really cared about my dog and his life. He never rushed us, he answered every question and he made me feel so comfortable, I truly trusted this amazing man with one of the most important souls in my life.. He did the surgery on my elderly dog. Most dogs his age do not survive but Dr. Sharawy and staff did an amazing job. My dog walked out of his office that day. It was amazing to see the life come back into my dogs eyes. Dr. Sharkawy texted me multiple times everyday to check on my dog and make sure he was doing ok. He goes above and beyond in a way I didn't know was possible. His staff of receptionist and technicians are amazing. They are friendly, smart, caring people who are happy to be there and happy to care for your pet. They are so knowledgable and put you at ease with how well they do their job. Unfortunately, they were more interested in milking and diming me instead of helping my cat. They tried saying she had a rare disease, but i can't remember the name of it. When I researched it, I found out if she had it, then the rest of my cats would have had it just from sharing the same food dishes. The doctor said he'd have to keep her for weeks to months at their facility. I took my other cats to a different vet and it turns out none of them had that disease. Unfortunately, I had to put my cat to rest at the end since he never addressed the actual problem i brought her in for. He charged me over 10k for blood tests, an xray, and cleaning an abscess.

Takeisha at the front desk is always so sweet. Price-wise, they may indeed be slightly higher than other places, especially within a bigger corps like Petco or PetSmart. And truly, I may change vets at some point, but for now and as a brand new puppy, I wanted to bring my fur baby to a good vet. For example, they quoted me $100+ for him getting microchipped and I wasn't about to pay that much. I ended up getting him microchipped for ~$40 (plus my breeder reimbursed me that amount, too). But again, I personally feel very comfortable and very happy with the service they provide here - though they are sometimes busy (and reply late to text messages) and not very flexible with scheduling (later hours). He looked at her for a moment right in the eyes before sticking a thermometer up her butt. I believe they both looked at each other as if to say "I'm comfortable with you." The examination results and options to be considered were well explained and easy to make a decision upon. Mobile Vet has a tremendous reputation in the neighborhood and Dr. Howard is a well respected man of the community. Just to draw upon a quick example, a friend lost her dog a year back. She was frantic & she printed up Reward -Lost Dog- flyers. Mobile Vet gladly posted the flyer and upon the dogs discovery was returned to their office. Upon which time Mobile Vet reached back out to the owner and reunited the family.

This isn't going to be a short review because the list of things that shouldn't have happened is a…read morelong one. I brought my CeCe for a check up on June 16th because she had been eating poorly, loosing weight and having less energy for a couple of weeks. 11 days later she was gone. Had she received the treatments she needed and none of what she didn't need, she would still be alive today. Before her blood tests results were even known, and confirmed advanced stage of kidney disease, Dr. Ueda had decided to treat my cat with a concoction of an aggressive parasite treatment, and an undisclosed antibiotic - "just in case" - without any symptoms calling for its use. Had I been told about the common side effects of both medications (NexGard Combo and Convenia), I would have never given consent to have either one of them used on my cat. Dr. Ueda failed to obtain an informed consent from me, and under the guise of "making my cat feel better" treated her with two substances that were guaranteed to worsen the very symptoms I came to seek treatment for. Afterwards, when my cat's condition did worsen - she became completely letargic and anorexic - and I couldn't afford the recommended $7000 hospitalization, I asked for home palliative care options. All I was sent away with were subcutaneous fluids, phosphate binder (Epakitin) that was supposed to be given with food, and a transdermal appetite stimulant (Mirataz) that the vet herself admitted wouldn't work. Neither nausea nor pain medication were prescribed, which essentially meant my non-eating cat was left to starve to death. She couldn't eat because the uremic toxins in her body caused extreme nausea and painful ulcers. Yet, at first, I was told she couldn't be nauseous because she wasn't actively vomiting. My request for a pain medication was also denied supposedly because Dr. Ueda didn't notice any ulcers - how could she though, if she never even finished checking my cat's mouth. Later on I was told that these safe liver-metabolized medications (like Cerenia or Buprenorphine), commonly prescribed to cats with kidney disease, couldn't be given to my cat because they would "further strain her compromized kidneys." And that was not only a blatant lie, but it also made for a most ridiculous excuse since two harsh systemic medications that are specifically kidney-metabolized had been administered or dispensed to my cat just a few days prior, without blinking an eye. In reply to my final plea for a pain medication to ease my dying CeCe's suffering, l was rushed (because they were closing soon) to bring her in for a euthanasia estimated at $500-700 even though I explained she was in no condition to be moved. No other options were offered or suggested. Nobody who truly loves animals would have done or let any of this happen. Stay away from this place. These "nice people" are only after your money.
