During my early years my family had a French Poodle that ran into a few health problems as he became long of tooth. That was thirty years ago. I'm just wishing for a moment that I had immediately transferred my current dogs care to Mobile Vet upon my return to New York. ------* I've used Juniper Valley Vet & I couldn't be happier breaking from them.*------ Once we raised my 105 pound pittymix female to the examination table, Dr. Howard Nachamie cleaned the minor build-up on her eyes and ears with his bare hands, this made me very happy. He looked at her for a moment right in the eyes before sticking a thermometer up her butt. I believe they both looked at each other as if to say "I'm comfortable with you." The examination results and options to be considered were well explained and easy to make a decision upon. Mobile Vet has a tremendous reputation in the neighborhood and Dr. Howard is a well respected man of the community. Just to draw upon a quick example, a friend lost her dog a year back. She was frantic & she printed up Reward -Lost Dog- flyers. Mobile Vet gladly posted the flyer and upon the dogs discovery was returned to their office. Upon which time Mobile Vet reached back out to the owner and reunited the family. read more

Unfortunately, Dr. Nachamie has retired his replacement. Dr. Cortez is not half the veterinarian that Dr. Nachamie was. I brought my dog in for her yearly check up and shots she nips sometimes so he muzzled her which is fine- but other than that all he did was give her her shots. He didn't check her ears. He didn't palpate her body. He didn't check her teeth. I will not be returning to this clinic. I don't feel comfortable with a veterinarian who is not thorough. read more

Excellent service. I've only been there once but the vet was very professional and took great care of my dog. Would highly recommend. Updated- took my pet there several times. I was never disappointed. They are very good with animals and treat them with the care they deserve. read more

BEWARE!!! Before giving this place your credit card 1) GET A SECOND OPINION ON SURGERY AND 2) GOOGLE THE PRODUCT OR FOOD YOU ARE PURCHASING HE WILL CHARGE YOU 10X THE PRICE!!! HE IS UNCONCERNED WITH THE HEALTH OF YOUR PET HE WANTS TO CHARGE HIS BELOVED CLOVER CREDIT CARD MACHINE. This place is dirty and the doctor is a scam artist! I took my dog here last month for 3 cysts/lesions, one of which the doctor promised he would expel for me at that appointment. However, upon entering the exam room, he left my dog on the floor, touched her with one hand, then washed that hand and told me he would charge me $1800 for a surgery to remove/expel all 3 lesions. I told him that I was a student and could not afford that, so he put his salesman hat on and tried to bargain "how about $1500? just do one or two! how much can you pay? We can do the surgery TODAY" (a safe, sanitary, reputable vet ready to do a long surgery on that same day - RED FLAG!!) When I declined the surgery definitively, he offered antibiotic pills that he started counting out in front of me. I asked if this would help all three different lesions- he said maybe? I declined putting my dog on a month of antibiotic pills, giving her diarrhea, and killing her gut microbiome for a "maybe", so he offered me a topical spray. I asked again if the spray would help all 3 lesions, he said yes it would help because it had a steroid and antibiotic in it. (Ok- so why is that my last option?) Reluctantly I agreed to buy the spray from this excited salesman, and he rushes in with his clover in hand to charge me $160. No receipt was offered and I was told it was $80 for spray and $80 for appointment. Of course I obliged as this was the last option that I could afford to take care of my dog in that moment (or so I thought). As I was walking out, I should note, he is STILL yelling out lower prices for the surgery that he offered - as we were farmers at an auction! He is yelling HOW ABOUT 800? NO? HOW MUCH CAN YOU AFFORD? As I was closing his door - so unprofessional and greedy and gross. When I got home and googled the spray, it costs $7-15 on chewy.com, a website I am sure this doctor is very familiar with and can easily send prescriptions to. He just wanted to charge me as much as he could on his clover machine!!! When I asked the receptionists how much they normally charge for the spray - she would not give me a response. He will charge you however much he thinks he can take you for!!! Weeks later, when I came to return the spray, I asked to see the notes from my dog's appointment, so I can properly assess the health of my own dog and her lesions, and he refused to show or send me exam notes (of course I know this is because there are no notes - because he did not conduct an exam and has no idea about the health of my dog). At that moment, I turned around to leave and simultaneously dialed my credit card company to refute the entire charge. I told him to expect a google review, to which he informed me that he will tell google that I refused all services (so I'm sure you'll read that excuse from him soon, below). WHAT A JOKE OF A VET. CLEARLY HIS BUSINESS IS FAILING AND HE IS TRYING TO STAY AFLOAT. My dog and I would have been better off NEVER WALKING INTO THIS OFFICE AND SHE NEVER WILL AGAIN. HOPEFULLY YOURS WILL NOT EITHER! read more

Dr. Nachamie is getting ready to retire likely this month. Our family has brought all our cats to him since 1998. He has literally been instrumental in saving their lives more than once. He's old-school and with practical common sense. He doesn't push surgery unless absolutely necessary either. We will miss him terribly. Want to add: I posted a prior review in 2013. So did 5 other people. Yelp placed these on the "not recommended" list, because their super-intelligent, brainless, soulless dit-dit system's algorithms are what they evidently use to think for them. I just called and was told there was no one to contact to correct this. (But, of course, if you want to do business with them, they're all ears). So, Yelp, the 5 stars aren't for you, but for a real-live intelligent person. On behalf of Suzy, Abital, Georgie, and Jemima, it's been a terrific run, Doc. Blessings. read more

Garo, the administrator for vet mobile, is extremely unprofessional and disorganized. He makes what could be a great organization a laughable mess. I would recommend that you spend a little bit more money elsewhere because your animal will probably not get quality care at the vet mobile. Garo called us minutes before the surgery was supposed to start and asked us which leg actually needed to be operated on - he didn't have the records from the exam and wasn't able to tell which leg had the femoral fracture despite having spent what he claims is his entire career in the field. What the heck?! In addition, Garo sent me to the wrong place, twice, and told me the wrong times, wasting over 5 hours of my time on a workday. He said my dog's surgery would be at 3 PM so I should come back to his office (which was really his house/shack) by 8 PM. Based on these instructions, I left my apartment at 6:24 to ensure I'd be there on time. At 7:48 PM, when I was 3 miles away, Garo called to say the surgery was just starting and I probably wouldn't be able to pick my puppy up until the next day.... aka, drive home another hour and a half, then back again the next day, then home again. I asked him why he hadn't notified me that the surgery would be much later so I didn't need to waste another 3 hours in the car, and he got very belligerent, told me he wasn't my secretary and that nobody does such things as courtesy calls (really now, eh?) and hung up. I paid $1700 plus examination fees for a ton of wasted time and some yelling. It turned out my puppy didn't even need pins - when I picked him up, the surgeon (who seemed great) told me the fracture was healing nicely on its own. Try this place at your own risk, follow yelpers. The vet, the surgeon, and the ladies running the van are all professional and kind, but Garo, who pretty much oversees the whole thing, ruins it. read more

Howard Nachamie, DVM - The incoming call at 7:48 PM to tell me NOT to pick my dog up at 8 PM, though I'd been on the road for over an hour already... - Veterinarians Near Me - Forest Hills, New York

Dr. Nachamie is a great veterinarian. My cat was a patient for approximately 10 years. Just recently I had to put little Virgil to sleep. In those last crucial days, Dr. Nachamie offered advice without false hope. He never pushed additional services, knowing they would not help my senior feline. At the very end, he was compassionate, kind and professional. It's a difficult job that vets have, when they have to put down animals. Dr. Nachamie was supportive and went as far as to send a hand-written condolence note after Virgil passed away. This vet will never make you spend money on tests or consider medical procedures unless he really thinks it's necessary - not many other vets would do the same. If I had another pet, there is no one else I would trust them with other than Dr. Nachamie. read more

Dr Nachamie has been our family vet for over 30 years and i was so surprised when we called to make an appointment and we were informed he had retired! I wish he had given his patients a heads up about this; i'm very surprised and disappointed; no introduction to the new Vet there taking his place, so we are not sure we will continue to go there until we can see if our pets (and family) feel comfortable with him. read more

Dr. Nachamie was the vet for my three dogs for several years. He made several mistakes with diagnosis for all three of them. We continued to go to him because we were hoping each instance was just an error in judgement. The most recent instance (the fourth) happened last month when we brought our youngest dog to him because she was itchy chronically. We weren't sure if it was anxiety or something else. He examined her and said "some dogs just have allergies". It finally seemed worth a second opinion. We took her to Glendale Vet and were told she had a very advanced skin infection. She was prescribes antibiotic and an itch preventative medication as well as topical rub. After approximately 3 weeks her skin, which was rough and raw from scratching for years, is now perfect and she doesn't itch anymore. While I hate to say this, I strongly advise not bringing your pets here. I'm not sure what the problem is. But he just doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing. read more

We (my family and myself) have been using Dr. Nachamie now for about 6 years. He has helped us through the death of two dogs and overseen the health and development of my cat. He has always approached us and our fur-babies with their best intentions in mind and his staff reflects that moral. Additionally, he does not nickle and dime you; no unnecessary tests, no treatments unless necessary and all of his prices are incredibly fair. He truly works for the love of his patients and I highly recommend him. read more

HiDr nachamie was very helpful with our dog tiger...always remember that. Don't know what I would have done without his help.

Dr. Nachamie was great with Basquiat (my cat). He knew exactly what to do and how to prevent the wound from getting worse. Hugo, his assistant, was also wonderful! The end price for the treatment was reasonable and I appreciate Dr. Nachamie for not pushing for extra exams or shots. Well worth it and highly recommended. read more

One of the worst experiences, the examination fee may be cheap But any medication your pet needs cost three times the amount of other vets. They offered to order it online for you but it can take up to a week to receive even though it's cheaper who wants to wait and let their animal suffer. The inside of the cramped truck did not look very clean.Never again! read more

I've been going to Dr. Nachamie for the past 5 years now for my cat Forest and he is truly one of a kind. First, he doesn't order unneccesary tests just to make money; second, he is not an alarmist and treats your pet "conservatively" but of course will suggest otherwise if needed; and most of all, he truly cares and takes his valuable time to call and follow up on how your pet is doing. read more

Dr. Nachamie and his staff are great. Very warm and honest. I left with them telling me my dog didn't need what I thought she did. Some other places would have taken advantage of that.
