This was my first time going and it was amazing! I had the cheese and basil ravioli and my fiancé had the chicken oreganato. Both were delicious, so flavorful. We sat on the rooftop, very romantic. Franconello's is a great place for a date night. Our server Anthony was great as well. He was very attentive and just a pleasant guy. I also enjoyed the music. 10/10

I did not expect to find a super yummy and authentic Italian restaurant on the south side. So I'm happy to have found one! I've been going for a few years now for Christmas Eve (with the exception of when the dining was closed). This past year it wasn't as amazing but not bad. I'm glad we got there earlier because others were waiting like 40 minutes or so for their food. It's a small but mighty kitchen. Little things was the chicken piccata didn't have that many capers and it kinda looked like peas were there instead of capers. The shrimp divolo had a good spice. They had a special sign in the front and I was able to order off it. So I got their special fettuccine. It was more wet than creamy so I'd prob avoid getting it. It's a staple to go here every Xmas eve so I'll probably keep going because well of course there are kinks when the dining has been closed and a holiday hits. I can't blame them for not being 100% when COVID is still around.

On Tuesdays, they offer a $49 tasting menu. The portions were large enough I couldn't finish…read moreeverything despite being voracious. While there was a spread, the meal was above average overall. The breakdown: 1st course - Parkerhouse Rolls: I have to give them points for showmanship. The beef tallow candle is a bona-fide candle! While there is an element of gimmickiness, it creates a fresh-tasting warm dip. The rolls themselves, while not the best bread I've ever had, were fresh, of perfect density, and wonderfully herbaceous. I give these a 8/10. 2nd course - Kale Caesar Salad: This is one where I tried a couple of forkfuls, and then said I didn't want anymore. I can award some consolation points for a healthy amount of parmesan, and accoutrements of garlic breadcrumbs, almonds, and egg yolk. Outside of these, however, the star of the show was a basic caesar dressing with kale that didn't taste much like anything. I give this a 2/10 3rd course - Grilled Oysters: This was hands down my favorite dish of the evening. I thought I wasn't a fan of cooked oysters, until I had these. The smell was as smoky as a campfire, the oysters cooked perfectly with a herbaceous and slightly acidic sauce and no fishiness! It reminded me of stupendously executed escargot. This dish deserves an 11/10. 4th course - Crispy Shrimp: The shrimp themselves were cooked well, and had an almost too-light breading. What helped elevate this dish was everything else. herbs, spices, sauce, olives, tomatoes, and greens all worked together well. It added savory, fresh, and acidic notes to the dish. An 8/10 from me. 5th course - Duck Confit Cigars: I appreciate what they were going for here, but the dish felt a little uninspired. They seemed more like a simple appetizer of duck rolled inside phyllo/wonton dough and fried. I can't complain about the marmalade, and it did help a little by adding sweetness and a little citrusy bitterness. These were pretty good, but if having a cigar, would rather have a Cuban - 7/10. 6th course - Marinated Cucumbers: Unlike the Caesar Salad, this vegetable course was superb. The flavor of the marinade was light and not at all overpowering. The cilantro added some herbiness, while the date puree added savory sweetness, and the garlic-chili crunch a little bite. No notes, a 10/10. 7th course - Skirt Steak & Crispy Smashed Potatoes: When the plate arrived in front of me, it made me wish for Smell-o-Vision, or, whatever the equivalent is here. Smell-o-Yelpision? The potatoes were divine, with the chicken cracklings helping add crunch, savor, and a heavenly smell. While I don't know if I can call them "smashed," they were still spud perfection. Spudfection? The steak was good, but not amazing. It was generally cooked well, though I can't say it was medium-rare throughout. While it was a fine cut and well seasoned, it was a hair shy of fork tender and melt in your mouth. The Aji Verde, while intended for the potatoes, went well with both. A dish that makes me wish I wasn't already full, and would devour everything in a heartbeat - 8/10. Dessert course - Apple Pie Cheesecake: Alas, by the time we got to the end, I was already stuffed. However, through and through the dessert screamed homemade by a pastry chef who knows what they're doing. Apple-y cake, lightly crisp crust, homemade whip, caramelized apple pieces, and gelato! Time to save room for dessert on a return visit! For being the apple of my sweet-tooth's eye; a 10/10. Drinks: I know that I had a Savoy Strut and a Blind Tiger. I'm sorry to say my mind did not retain specifics, but can tell you the cocktails added great creativity. Both were well-balanced in terms of sweetness, booziness, and savoriness, though not mind-blowing. A beer-goggle-less review of 9/10. Vibe: The atmosphere is a blend of moody, modern, and upscale. It has tasteful splashes of color, music playing at just the right volume, and tables not spaced too closely together. The bar seating reminded me of the uber-comfy bus driver seats that do a little ploosh when you sit. (10/10) Service: Credit to the bar-server for being friendly and welcoming, as well as making sure I was happy and asking for feedback on what about the salad I didn't like. However, I'd like to note as it was his first Tuesday shift, he didn't know about the Tuesday Tasting Menu, and some things arrived out of sequence. To be clear, this is not a failing of the server, but management for not offering proper, timely training, and having him work alone. Bonus to the staff for quickly 86'ing someone who was WAY too happy in public. Service gets a 7/10 Final verdict: I crunched some numbers. If "7" is average, Untitled Supper Club averages 8.2 on an equally-weighted basis. The tasting menu gave me a good picture of their offerings - enough to say what appetizers to get when coming with friends so I don't stuff myself with too much bread prematurely, unable to enjoy a dessert.

I love the ambiance of the place, feels very high end and intimate. Perfect place for a date night or girls night. Major complaint is that the waitstaff cleared my drink and our apps before I was done drinking and eating -_- . This happened as soon as we asked our waiter for the check. Thought that was pretty bad service, as we were still snacking on the apps, and I still had probably a quarter of my drink left. Guess they were ready to get us out of there as quick as possible. Other than that, the food that we shared and the drinks were pretty good. On the pricey end but I guess it makes sense given how nice the place is and the location. I'd definitely recommend for the show but would advise to hold off asking for the check until your REALLY finished.

I went here with my best friend and my hubby to celebrate my birthday with a great birthday dinner…read more We were in the Chi already visiting Atlas Stationary as a self-proclaimed station and fountain pen freak so we figured why not?!? I had heard great things about Carnivale prior to so please note that prior reservations were already made but regardless, it was all our first times there and we were stoked to finally try this place out. When we first got there, the outside was very unassuming. Some awesome graffiti on the wall (yes, angel wings included) and lots of color which made me so happy! As we entered, we were greeted by lots of colored flora on the walls and the floor. It led to a beautiful lounge where we checked in. The hostess was quite kind and they escorted us to another room that had multiple floors, two I believe. We were sitting in the main dining area where dining tables were set up and the ceiling lights and decorations were super-duper colorful. It was brightly lit and festive. Seriously, the colors alone could make anyone happy and do a serious dopamine overload which was fine with me. We sat down, was introduced to our server, Oscar and then given menu's. I genuinely thought that this place was pretty small initially because it looked small from the outside but boy was I wrong! This place was MASSIVE. But! I digress, now that we had our menu's-- Let the party begin!! We started with the ceviche tasting which included four types of ceviche; shrimp, Yucatan style hamachi, salmon and tuna. All were really good with their own really distinct flavors but our top favorites were the salmon and the tuna. The salmon had a kick while the tuna had a great balance of heat and sweetness. Great way to start of this dinner! My bestie ordered coconut shrimp and smoked mushroom croquettes for her main meal. My hubs ordered the carne asado while I ordered the lechon asada. I also want to add that we ordered Mexican street corn on the side alongside mashed potatoes and Peruvian Jalea. Ah and before I forget, we also ordered our drinks which consisted of a: sangria, margarita, Cotton Candy Cosmo and Salva Honduran Pilsner. All were spectacular and made the night that more enjoyable as well! When we received our food. We were all really enjoyed it as we all shared our bites amongst one another. The coconut shrimp was well breaded and you tasted the coconut as well. The shrimps were large and juicy. The smoked mushroom croquettes were good with a smokey flavor and good breading, however, the breading may have a been a little thick because you couldn't really taste the mushroom,m unfortunately. The carne asado was the star of the show. Well seasoned steak, cooked medium rare which was juicy and succulent. The lechon asado was good. Although I'm not used to eating lechon asado that is covered in sauce, the sauce was super tasty so I didn't mind the tender, juicy pork that was covered in it. I really enjoyed it. I think the only thing that I wish was different with regards to my lechon asado is that I wish it were hotter because it was luke warm when I received it. Other than that, it was....*chef's kiss*. The Mexican street corn was alright, it honestly just tasted like regular corn with mayonaise in it with some cheese. Didn't add anything significant to the meal. The mashed potatoes were soft but not too soft and buttery. They were really good and then the Purvian Jalea was another favorite, super good! The calamari, fish and shrimp with the Purvian Jalea were absolutely delicious; fresh, tasty and well breaded. It was absolutely yummalicious. To top the night off, they gave me a little birthday treat of cotton candy and carmel popcorn. We also had some tres leches which was so yummy because the fruit was fresh and you could taste the milk in the tender cake and then we had the chocolate cigar. The chocolate cigar was also really good, everything except the label was edible, It was smokey, chocolately and delectable. It's presentation was also so creative. We all loved it. Overall, this restaurant is SUPER PRICY but SUPER WORTH IT. I am so glad that I was able to go there to celebrate a special occasion because it would not be a place that I could go to on a regular basis but as much as I wish I was, ya girl ain't rich like that. The service was superb, the employees were kind, the food was fire and drinks were scrumptious. If you're looking for a fun, Latin cuisine inspired, creative, yummy way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion with a fun Latin twist--look no further, that is it! Check it out and you won't be disappointed. Now, I'm sorry for my novel and you may now go back to your normal programming schedule. If you do end up coming here and loving it -- i told ya so ;)

The service was quick and attentive, and although the place was busy we didn't have to wait on a Friday night. We were fairly unfamiliar with the menu options but came with a big appetite, our waiter recommended the empanadas for an appetizer and they were great! Perfectly fried and super crispy, and you could tell the oil they were using was clean which is always a great sign for the rest of the experience for me. The decorations were SUPER cool. They went over the top for the holidays. Even if it's almost February... Both my lady and I ordered margaritas, and they were the best we've had since we moved down. They were STRONG, but not overly so. 1 was enough, 2nd was for fun. As we were leaving the table next to us ordered a pour of tequila and they did it tableside. I had the Colombian flank steak plate. While I can say I came with a big appetite and I can eat, this was about the first time I can say I left a restaurant still hungry. I knew what I was getting into since the menu did state the size of the steak, and I guess it's not a huge minus I left wanting more! The margaritas probably played a part too. The plate was phenomenal. I ordered the steak medium rare, but it was a little on the rare side which I don't mind at all. Everything molded perfectly and no flavor overpowered the other. One of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time. The only thing holding back this place from a 5 is the portions and prices. $4 for two shrimp seemed insane, and adding options to the margaritas makes each one almost $16. It certainly doesn't deserve the low 3 star rating on this app. Can't wait to come back!

My friends and I showed up just trying to watch the game, and right away we're getting aggressively patted down like criminals. Completely unnecessary and way over the top. We stayed inside for hours, bought drinks, watched the game, and didn't cause a single problem. At one point I stepped outside for literally a minute to smoke, and when I came back, one of the security guards immediately started acting hostile. Another door guy even told him, "He was already inside," and he still ignored him. That tells you everything you need to know. Instead of doing his job professionally, this guy got in my face screaming "Move, move, move!" and physically pushing me like he was trying to provoke something. It was pure ego and completely uncalled for. I stayed calm and tried to explain I had already been inside for hours, but he clearly wasn't interested in listening. He was more focused on flexing authority than actually handling the situation correctly. I ended up going around to another entrance, and a different staff member let me in without any issue, which just proves the first guy was completely out of line. At that point, we grabbed our things and left. No one is going to spend their money somewhere they're treated with that level of disrespect. Security like that doesn't make a place feel safe--it makes it feel hostile, unprofessional, and not worth coming back to. We won't be returning.

There are other spots in the neighborhood with way more welcoming staff, but I also didn't have a gripe with the staff. The best part of Joy is the rooftop. We were enjoying the view of the skyline, the vibes, and the really great tech house DJs that were playing up there. Unfortunately, the roof are closed before the headliner came on downstairs on the main dance floor, we were forced to listen to the opener who constantly failed to beat match (for those not familiar with DJ-ing, that is probably the very first thing you learn to do). The music choice was a little weird and the vibes were just not good. We ended up leaving at midnight because the crowd was a little young and rude, and the headliner still had not come out. We were ready to call it quits. It's unfortunate because it's a great stage/dance floor setup, super fun bottle service presentation (even as just bystanders), but the music and vibes were not it. That said, I typically like Joy District and again, the rooftop was the BEST, so I will still be back again soon!
