Malls are a dying breed and this mall ia currently a prime example of such. Extremely well kept I must say...very clean.

The Francis Scott key mall is definitely an example of how malls are becoming a thing of the past. There are very few places to shop in the FSK mall and what we do have unfortunately usually has very limited inventory. You have your mall staples- Macys, Hollister, American eagle and H&M. I do love that there is a Barnes and Nobels and Dicks sporting goods too. I do wish there was more at this mall but also know the foot traffic probably doesn't attract anything new to the area. Worth a visit if you need something in a rush otherwise you may need to make the trip all the way to Tysons read more

It is so odd to step foot into a mall nowadays. Especially since it is like roulette, you never know if you are going to get a mall that is filled to the brim with actual shopping or it is one misstep away from closing their doors. Francis Scott Key Mall is one of the former. Somehow this mall is thriving with some well established national brands and a surprise or two. This is a single level mall that I had the chance to visit twice over the past few months while travelling back and through the area. I took it as a point where I was either almost there or just outside of the busy areas. Anchor stores are what you think it would be with one of the surprises mixed in. This mall just happens to still have a Sears as an anchor store. But not only a Sears, a JCPenney. Two stores that have left malls in droves the past copy of years. It is just so odd to see. This is an easy mall to get through but also an easy mall to get lost in. I can see this a one stop shop for items for birthdays or the holidays. However, I don't see it being a destination shopping area for those from outside the area. read more

My daughter came here not too long ago and lost her wallet. Of course she was very stressed and worried, told me all about how a bath and bodywork's worker kindly gave her mall security's number. Mall security was very kind and had her wallet. My daughter said she was very helpful and friendly, making her feel better about the whole situation. Love this mall! read more

Nicole of Mac in Macy's is the best make-up artist I have ever had. She is very patient, kind, and thoughtful. She made my week the best I have had in a long time. Grateful for people like her who make me want to shop at only Mac, only Macy's and Francis Scott Key Mall. read more

This is a nice sized mall. It only has one level. The place was clean and the architecture was nice. Almost all the spaces were occupied and a good many people were shopping. They have a JCPenney, Sears, in Value City, I haven't seen those stores in a while. There isn't a food court and instead concession stands are scattered throughout the mall. read more

It is a smaller mall to compared to others carries most of the stores but also most not was going to Dulles airport and had to stop in to see if I could do a little shopping walked the whole mall it was pretty cool. The mall is very well taken care of it's clean. Food court didn't have that many options but it is what it is had to get what they had. read more

Although this is a smaller mall with not as Many stores, it is very clean and has ample parking! They do have various food options (although not a good court) throughout the mall and plenty of restaurants located right beside the mall. The employees are all friendly and helpful. If you are looking for specific stores, you may want to check the online directory to see if this mall has it. One bonus to the mall is the large Barnes and Nobles they have. It's hard to find a nice bookstore anymore it seems. In the surrounding area there are plenty of other shopping centers. So if you are looking to do a day of shopping, this area is great! read more

I like Francis Scott Key mall (FSK). It's easy to get into, plenty of parking, and most important to me, it's fairly small. I don't have to walk past 50 specialty stores to get to the stores that my granddaughter (the tween) and I are interested in. If I want to visit a specialty shop, I can always go to Columbia Mall or Montgomery Mall. The tween, and her parents moved to the Frederick area this summer so we've been to FSK mall a few times already. It's the perfect size for the tween and me and has the stores that we most like to frequent. She always wants to start out at the Sephora cosmetic store located in JC Penney's. After spending time there we move on to Claire's accessories and across the hall to Hot Topic. We then head down to DSW and finally we finish up at Macy's. There is a brand new H&M, but by the time we got to it we were too tired to check it out. We'll save that for another day. The Macy's is nice and both the tween and I found some tops that we liked. We've been to the mall on a weekday and on the weekend and no kiosk vendor has bothered us at all. Since this mall is the closest one to the tween, I'm sure I'll be back and I really don't mind that. Just hope that the Macy's there is not one of the chain's planned closings. read more

This mall needs more stores. I have never seen a mall this small and if a mall is small they usually have amazing stores. I suggest adding a Nordstrom, Forever 21 and H&M. Just a few suggestions. Anyway they have a candy store that sells my favorite German candy and that's why I gave the mall two stars. read more

Uhhhh, not much of a mall. Malls like this are the reason that indoor malls are on the decline. Everything is dated, there is a slight smell of old when you walk in, and there are not very many customers about. Too bad as there are plenty of local reasons to be here. read more

i would like to make a complaint on the hollister store in this exact mall. as soon as we walked into the store, my friend heads straight to the 40% off section for the sweaters. the cheer and excitement that entered her face when she picked up a white sweater with designs that looked like my deceased grandmothers table cloth. if you were to ask me when the last time i saw that amount of happiness on her face, i would be standing there with no words coming out of my mouth. we serte standing in line and she kept talking about how excited she was to go home and tell her mother how she spent only 25 dollars on a sweater. as my friend walks up the cashier with the rest of us behind, we all watched as her smile slower faded into a frown of disappointment when she was told her was not on sale. she had purchased a 40 dollar sweater. she looks over the receipt over and over and still couldn't understand what went wrong. she went back to the cashier to show her the 40% off sign and all she had to say was 'sorry'. sorry my ass blonde bitch from hollister. the only good thing that came out of this whole experience is when what makes you beautiful by one direction was playing while we were looking at thongs. of course it's understandable if my poor old friend read the sign wrong, but the two workers had such unforgivable attitude about it. the funny thing is, the boys section was on sale. this sexism disgusts me. do not give this sexist company any of your payment. use it to buy yourself a cookie. read more

francis scott key mall is a fine mall , it's just today the store clairs threw me off . today me and my friend were shopping for stuff at claire's for her baby cousin and i was looking for rings . everything was perfectly fine till a woman with black hair came up to me and said " no stealing it's not aloud " . which was confusing but maybe she just keeping aware . then another lady with blond hair came up to us and said " do you guys wanna give me your stuff or do you want me to call security " which was very rude . we were not stealing they were accusing us of stealing , to me that's not being a good employee . like they could of at least confronted and asked and be nice about it ; , but they were rude gave us nasty looks , and assumed we were stealing which we weren't . 10/30/20 read more

Worse mall ever. Very few stores and the food court is almost nonexistent. I'm from the city so I wasn't expecting an extravagant mall but this was a huge let down. I've seen better in smaller towns down south. They need to bulldoze it and start again. Wish I could give it zero stars. read more

I know I'm a tad generous to give the mall four stars but 3 1/2 wasn't an option and I felt more than enough people have bashed it a bit TOO much so I stayed on the side of generosity. Considering FredCo has but ONE closed mall--FSK--I wish that other posters gave their opinion a bit more respect of its place in FredCo importance. My two cents worth...PROS: the mall IS pretty clean and anyone who posted otherwise is just plain wrong. Period. There are some good to very good stores--Macy's, Penney's, Sears, Bath and Body Works, Gap Kids, Hallmark. There are some "non-mall" places such as the swimming center and Laser Tag. Parking's still free there, unlike at MANY other malls. There is a HUGE and varied selection of food literally surrounding the perimeter of the mall. CONS: they need to attract more tenants when smaller places close--it looks crappy to see a freakin' chain link fence up where Mocha Island Café used to be. Seriously? A fence--ugh. And I do agree with the posters who state their desire/preference for a food court. In the absence of one, a fast food joint to replace the closed McDonald's wouldn't be bad. Going back to the "PROS", though, where food is concerned: Chopsticks Express. That food is delicious if you order it from the Teriyaki side. Seriously good food there. However, for those who work at the mall, you can only eat it so many times in a week so, again, agreeing with the "food court" suggestion. It would also be nice for the anchor stores at least to have two levels. As of this writing, there is a whopping ONE store in all of Frederick County other than a furniture store that has two levels and that is my previously-reviewed Boscovs. A second level to a store doesn't "class" it up...but it sounds less lame than to say that all of the other stores are one level or that we don't have a second level. All of the afore-mentioned being written, though, this is OUR mall. It's what we've got. Sure, perk it up a bit or freshen up a few stores but, you know what? I've never been in this mall and felt unsafe or felt that it was dirty and, frankly, in this crazy world in which we live with people shooting people pretty much anytime you blink, I feel safe at this mall and there are plenty of close by malls that make me skittish. (Yeah, I'm talking about YOU, Lakeforest Mall!) So, on the basis of peace of mind and the fact that there are stores in there that, while not necessarily the most eye-popping once, I give our humble little mall 4 stars. I grew up going to the FSK mall and I used to think it was the biggest, nicest mall ever. In reality, it's rundown, empty, and doesn't have many selections that aren't gaudy. My childhood memories of this place are destroyed. read more

Mall is old and dated. Lots of empty storefronts, which is never a good sign. A couple of random/bootleg stores like the As Seen on TV knockoff or the flea market-like bazaar. Far more cheap shoe stores than one mall needs! No food court, but just a couple sub-par fast food places. It's hard to say why this mall is ever busy and no surprise that stores (even big chains) are closing their doors and moving elsewhere. read more

You should not come here for shopping; for eating and playing! FSK is not the best, but it's not the worst. As Joe J. wrote, their is a nice selection of stores and it's pretty clean. Just wish those hand cream sales people would stop being so aggressive... Had one chase my sister and me halfway down to the Macy's entrance! Seems that most of us in the DMV are spoiled by Tysons and Colombia mall.. but at least FSK has a DSW! read more

A rather small and seemingly unchanging mall, i've lived in Frederick for close to 8 years before we moved away. Upon returning many stores remained unchanged, aside from mixing around merchandise and "Gender-specific" walls in stores the same bland styles and clothing remain a trademark of this mall. read more

I despise going to this mall - traffic is a real hassle, especially at the holiday season and frankly, it is not well maintained. The exterior is dirty and unkempt. I only go there now to go to Barnes & Noble since Borders closed. read more

Check this mall out today for the tax free weekend. They had a lottt going on here today. The mall itself could use a body lift because it is small but it has some good stores in it. Jcpenny, macy's and sears to name a few. They were giving out prizes and had a fashion show going on today. Definitely will be back to shop in a few of the stores. When they do the body lift that means add a level or two, they need to put in there a food court. What mall doesn't have a food court. Auuuhh... reallly!!! Better than nothing, but not by much. I've lived all over the country, and this is one of the worst. Small, old, in poor repair. The JC Penny's, in particular, is incredibly musty and moldy, so much so, I had to escape after less than two minutes in. The kiosk vendors are extremely aggressive, yelling and chasing shoppers down the corridors. The Macy's and the Barnes and Noble are half-decent. I find most of the stores to be useless and/or objectionable. We go to Hagerstown to find better shopping-and that's not saying much. read more

I love Spencer Gifts and a few other places in the mall I miss the Fun Factory, the indoor put put and the Cinnabon I used to attend the old and the new mall but I thought the Frederick Towne Mall should stayed open and the FSK mall should of never been built because of a quarry near by and I love Rosa Pizza the best pasta and bread ever. Maybe they should kept both Malls open this is the second largest city in Maryland just reopen the old mall back up and have the new Wal Mart as a mall anchor like another mall that I saw a video of and I could see what good stores would go to the Frederick Towne Mall and The Churches around the USA would see this and fix them both up. I would like to see the WalMart on Guilford Drive to close forever it the the worse Wal Mart I ever been in and the US 40 one Open and replace that Walmart with a second K mart. read more

Not the best, not the worst. However, I enjoy coming here as it's close to where I live. Not the largest selection of stores, but has all the general stuff a guy shopping for nice-ish clothes could really want. Being a small-ish town mall, there is never a huge amount of people here so that means I am nice and happy. Barnes & Nobles is here too; a huge plus to the mall. If you live in Frederick, never been here, and don't give a **** about dumb stuff, this mall is a good mall to come to. And to the girl complaining about the color change, you deserve it. read more

I've been coming to FSK since I was little (many years). It is a small mall but would rather go there than deal with a million people at Montgomery or Tysons or Columbia. Only other closeby malls are Lakeforest (which I won't step foot in anymore) and Columbia which is a bit further or maybe Valley Mall in Hagerstown. One thing that FSK needs desperately is a food court and a grocery store nearby. We live about 10 mins away in Urbana and our Giant is crap. Small and never has what I need and is WAY overpriced. I drive to Wegmans to do my grocery shopping or Giant Eagle. read more
