I was seriously hoping to have a good experience with Dr Ito. However I feel pulled to warn others of her lack of compassion and ethical care. I went to her to finally address chronic hormonal dysfunction, and after not having insurance for many years, I finally got it, and I was feeling very optimistic about getting answers or at least guidance to the health struggles I've been experiencing. When in her exam room I told her my symptoms and asked for a blood lab test to confirm my hormone levels. Her response was "And what good would that do if you know you have (my condition)?" I said it would be very important to know that for my long term health so I can make lifestyle changes now. She said "the blood labs are expensive. If you have the symptoms then you probably have it" And then she left the exam room. She didn't offer to discuss or guide me through what those symptoms mean, or how I could navigate a plan with another provider if she wasn't equipped to handle that. I felt that her handling of me was cruel and not ethical. I went to her looking for care for a health struggle I've had for years, and she met me with condescension and cruelty. Being pregnant with my first baby, It's rare to find a doctor that combines such personal touches and care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care. First things first, the receptionist is very kind. She deserves a five-star for her service. Then we moved into the room. When Dr. Ito called my name and I entered her office, I was hopeful that she would give me solutions to solve my problem. At least some options or kind words to encourage me to continue this path. HOWEVER, she gave me a hard no with a harsh tone. I am a business owner myself too, I undoubtedly felt that she didn't want to take me as a patient and kept telling me to go to another doctor. My question is, if you really didn't want to consult me nor want to be kind to me, why take me as a patient and cost me $150 at first? You could've told me "I don't want you to come visit me", and save me some time, money, and happiness, couldn't she? I'm still in shock of how harsh she was... that's all I wanted to say for now. I finally had my surgery done and I think Dr. Ito did a fantastic job! Very minimal pain, incisions that won't be visible to others, and a follow up appointment is already scheduled. I'm a first time mother and along with that comes inexperience, doubts and a lot of questions. When you ask Dr. Ito, she answers in the most condescending possible way. As an example, i was having migraine blood pulsating headaches, my boyfriend was concerned that it may be a sign of preeclampsia. When asking Dr. Ito about whether these frequent painful headaches she just smiles at you and says - "Well did you have headaches before you were pregnant?" My response was yes but never this painful and not this kind of headache where you feel every movement and blood rushing to your head. She says "Well if you had headaches before you got pregnant then it's normal." If that lack of an answer satisfies you and makes you feel comfortable then she's the right doctor for you. This is just one example of my visits with her but after the 3rd time, I just had it with her. Another example is that I travelled during Christmas from US to Philippines alone. Since i'm 14 weeks along (at the time), I requested a note for her to confirm I was pregnant to submit to the airline in order to receive help with my luggage. Her response - "Who's asking?" As if it's not obvious I'm her patient and I'm asking. She further added "Well, you don't even look pregnant so why would they need that?" So is she inadvertently saying I should carry my 32" suitcase of 70 lbs myself? If I don't look pregnant clearly that's why i'm requesting a note...In the end her staff typed up the note with her e-signature. I'd rather find someone who's not going to be so negative and act so condescendingly especially when you're giving her business. She doesn't seem to really give that special care for her patients. This isn't the attitude I'd want in my birthing room when I'm bringing a life into this world. I am a new patient of Dr. Ito and recently had a laparoscopy, d&c hsc pelviscopy & ovarian cystectomy. I'm about one week post-op. I had an early follow up today and was happy to find out that the surgery went well and that I am healing just fine. No unusual discomfort, just a little tender & sore on my stomach. But I know that will go away with time. Dr. Ito took very good care of me. Happy that my MIL referred me to her! The day of surgery while in the recovery room, upon waking up, I remember the nurse giving me advice to try and walk the following day for about 10-15 minutes, if I am able. Slowly & safely of course. So that the c02 gas would subside/pass gas. She did mention that if I don't try to walk, that specifically my left about will hurt. I was able to walk around my house with assistance. Overall, happy that it was a successful surgery. No unusual symptoms post-op. Just took it easy & rested. Going to continue to take it easy. I understand that Dr. Ito can be straightforward, and kind of blunt. My MIL told me that before I scheduled any appointments with her. But I was fine with that. I like the fact that Dr. Ito performs the pap smear test herself. My prev OBGYN all had an NP do them. She's very through, and will answers all your questions straight forward. Her receptionist is also nice and helpful, I had problems with getting the medications at the Pharmacy, and they were quick to re-ordered and made sure the Pharmacy got it. Dr. Ito and her team are AMAZING! They're so nice and so wonderful! My friends and I have been seeing Dr. Ito for many years and we're so grateful to have found such a wonderful OBGYN. I never want her to retire! Every office visit is always great and pleasant. Dr. Ito is fast, thorough, and is always happy to answer all my questions. I've had one surgery and recently delivered my first baby with Dr. Ito. It's extremely rare to find a doctor who is compassionate, kind, supportive, and that genuinely cares. When I was at Torrance Memorial Hospital, in Labor and delivery, the nurses told me how much they loved working with Dr. Ito and how rare it is for a doctor to come visit their patients everyday to check on their patients. Dr. Ito was on top of everything and made sure everything went smoothly. After hearing so many horror stories, my biggest fear in life was giving birth! During delivery, Dr. Ito was so calm and supportive. She really made my delivery experience so wonderful. My husband loved her too! Dr. Ito even saw me on a Sunday to make sure I was doing well the day after delivery. I mean, how amazing is that?! If Yelp allowed me to give Dr. Ito a million stars, I would! I've been seeing Dr. Ito for 2 years now and I'm more than pleased with my care. She carried me through a D&C from a missed miscarriage and helped me feel at ease through the entire process of heartbreak and healing. A year later she was there for my pregnancy- which went full term- and helped with all my concerns, routine checkups, and anything that came up that was worrisome to me. She performed my c-section and delivered a healthy baby girl. She also referred me to an amazing high risk doctor and even a pediatrician for when the baby would come. The after care was great and she always asks about how baby is doing. I will continue to see her for all my female needs! P.S. the front office gals are a pleasure to deal with! Had to switch doctors !! If you're a young couple stay away, if you're an interracial couple stay away !!! Expecting my first child, local dr with good reviews so we have her a try. First appt was ok, they had no paper for an ultrasound picture we were told... it happens. 2nd appt comes and one of the front desk lady's not the small girl, said I wasn't allowed in the room with my girl anymore which made no sense cause everything was fine the first time. Left it alone eventually got in the room that's all that matters, then when I asked the main Dr. the ito lady if they had their ultrasound printer paper this time she said "you have a phone don't you ? Take a picture " referring to the ultrasound screen. I had to just leave that one alone. We were then very thrown off by that rude comment. Dr. Ito came highly recommended to me by my fertility specialist. I had undergone multiple rounds of IVF to get pregnant with my daughter and was very nervous about the pregnancy. Dr. Ito was patient, kind, and flexible. Her staff was helpful and always got back to me in a timely manner. The office assisted in filling out disability and insurance forms for my maternity leave in a timely manner and was always so kind to me and my husband. I moved from LB to Redondo Beach 16 years ago. For many years I suffered with reoccuring fybroids, and my LB Ob Gyn never did anything to really help. I was referred by a good friend to Dr. Ito in Torrance, and she immediately was able to diagnose and treat me for many years. Dr. Ito helped me through a miscarraige, and a "no complication" pregnancy at the age of 43. She and her staff are always amazing !! For the last several months, I had a cyst on my ovary that we were monitoring through ultrasounds. Recently the cyst had started to grow. As usual, Dr. Ito gave me a few choices, with whatever I felt comfortable doing during these crazy times. My husband and I decided on the pelviscopy to remove that ovary, and fallopian tubes to prevent ovarian cancer. Dr. Ito let me know that keeping the other ovary in, helps protect against breast cancer. She also recommended a D and C to check my uterus. I have always trusted Dr Ito and her professionalism, and scheduled the surgery. Her office staff was amazing as always, and looked into my insurance and which option would be least out of pocket for me... doing at the hospital, or the Pacific Coast Surgical Center which I had been too previously for D and C's. I had my pre-op appointment 2 days before, and Dr. Ito explained everything to me that she would be doing in detail. I am a person who really does not like blood, needles, and definitely surgery.. but as soon as I walked in for surgery on 9/17/20, the staff and nurses at the Pacific Coast Surgical Center were so wonderful, I seriously forgot about what was going on !! Dr. Ito arrived , and before I knew it my husband was picking me up. I slept most of the day, and that afternoon both Dr. Ito and the Surgical Center called to check on me.
