I met up with two friends for dinner at Francesca's Vicinato on a Saturday night. I had never been to this location before, and here are a few things I noticed. The space is much smaller than other locations, but it is just as cozy. You do not feel like you are overly cramped. There were many people waiting to be seated and the restaurant was packed! We had made reservations a week prior, so we were seated right away. I started off with a cocktail called Svegliati; Tito's Licor, Meletti Coffee Liquor, and Espresso. It was smooth and velvety with a rich espresso flavor. I really enjoyed it! For my entree, I opted for the Linguine con Calamari; calamari, spicy marinara, anchovies, and garlic. This dish was to die for. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the flavors blended together beautifully. The linguine was also cooked perfectly al dente. The service was a bit on the slower side this night, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. There were large parties of people coming in and a few celebrations going on. Francesca's Vicinato in Palos Park is definitely a hidden gem!

6/9/2025 - Mussels w linguine - I am going back for this! Delish!

First Visit - Late Sunday Lunch (6/7/2025) Service: A+ We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and seated right away. The staff was attentive, and our food arrived after just the right amount of time -- no rush, no long wait. Food: A+ We ordered the calamari, mussels and linguine, two plates of spaghetti with meatballs, the panino alla caprese, and gelato for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious -- not a bite left on our plates! Ambiance: A The space is small but clean, cozy, and welcoming. It truly felt like spending a relaxed Sunday at Nonna's house. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

We picked a good time on Christmas Eve..2:30. It was not crowded but noisy. I had a sugar cookie martini..good but watered down. We started out with Donna's meatballs. Very tasty. I had the vodka with mushrooms and spinach. It was very flavorful..but greasy. My husband had the salmon. He said it was tasty as well. Lucky for us we were seated with my back to the water pitchers, because our server never checked on us and I had to refill our glasses myself. We had the spomoni..a bit pricey at $8 each. All in all, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. Nothing special.

We ordered linguine and clam sauce.... But perhaps as many clamshells there was I couldn't find all the clams kind of making me wonder if they save the shells and throw it in there it was just an observation since all of them get collected nice in a bowl..... But I had to admit the clam sauce was actually good. They're chicken parmesan was hit... I enjoyed the sauce and I actually like the way that they have fried their chicken or breaded it and grilled it either way was excellent.. and one of my favorite dishes that I order almost every time I hit an Italian restaurant is the Alfredo most of the time I have to fix it whether I have to add cheese or pepper is very rare that I get to eat the entree without having to doctor it up but this one definitely passed.. the chicken was a little dry but you won on the Alfredo sauce.... It was a win-win lunch definitely wouldn't mind going back there...

We came in looking forward to dinner and unfortunately left disappointed…read more The positives first: my wife's espresso martini was excellent -- easily the highlight of the evening. Her Chicken Vesuvio was very good, and the Shrimp DeJonghe appetizer was enjoyable, especially with the bread. Unfortunately, everything declined once the entrées arrived. My porterhouse steak was placed on the table rather abruptly, and the cut looked more like a T-bone, with the filet portion nearly nonexistent. The quality of the meat was poor and extremely tough -- barely edible. I rarely ask for A1 sauce with a steak, but it was the only way I could get through it. The baked potato was dry, and while the side salad was fresh, it felt more like cafeteria-quality than something from a restaurant at this price point. Shortly after dropping off the entrées, the waitress quickly asked how the food was. I responded, "just okay," but she immediately walked away, not giving the impression that she was interested in hearing anything further. That set the tone for the rest of the service. What made the situation more disappointing was seeing the table next to us receive the same porterhouse. Their steak appeared nearly twice the size of mine, had a clearly defined filet portion, and they were able to cut into it effortlessly. The inconsistency was very noticeable. After that, service was largely absent. We waited about 20 minutes trying to locate our waitress Dee with no success. The owner did stop by and was very friendly when we asked for A1 sauce, but overall the service remained slow. It took roughly 30 minutes to get a water refill and another 30 minutes to receive our check. The explanation given was that she had been in the back handling a difficult order. For the price and expectations that come with ordering a porterhouse, this experience did not meet the standard. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistency in food quality and service makes this a 2-star experience at best.

Needless to say,…read morethere was not a good restaurant in Alsip so we had to go to Oak Lawn for Francesca's on 95th! We had a great time, with great service and really good old fashioned Italian food!!! For our appetizer, we had the sausage and peppers. GAME CHANGER!!! Neither of us had eaten this classic Italian appetizer before and Francesca's version was a great introduction to this dish. Surprisingly, it was NOT the sausage that was the star of this presentation - it was the sauce and the peppers. The sauce was part top notch olive oil, part Italian seasonings and it was a wonderfully delicious background to each bite. The peppers (green, red & yellow) were perfectly cooked, luxuriously soft but still with a little crisp to them. Those peppers were perfectly cooked! I do think the sausage, while okay, was not up to the standard of the rest of this dish. For my main, I had the Linguini Alla Caruso - shrimp, garlic, olive oil with a basil-pine nut pesto sauce. It was very good, very good. Be warned though the sauce leans a little to the sour or harsh flavor. Not too bad, I certainly ate it up, but there was certainly a sharp taste every once in a while. My spouse had Dana's Bolognese. He was very happy with it! The overwhelming reaction to our main dishes was "holy crap" that's a lot of food! The dishes were as large as a coffee table and we NEVER could have eaten all that food no matter how long we sat there at dinner. Each dish was big enough to feed both of us and several people at nearby tables!!! But the best part of Francesca's on 95th was the service. Everyone was so friendly, so nice, hard working and willing to take care of our every need. Seriously, the staff worked their butts off and provided some of the best service I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Hats off to everyone from the hostess to the server to the bus people. You all really took care of us that evening. You will NOT walk away from Francesca's hungry! Is the food the best Italian I have ever had? Probably not but it is definitely solid and a great place to enjoy a good meal.

Located in the strip mall adjacent to the Burr Ridge Village Center, parking can be a bit difficult for the weekend's prime time. They do also offer valet for $11. They have a main dining space, bar area, outdoor patio, and four-seasons dining space. The inside is dimly lite but has large trees in the center to create an elevated atmosphere. Our group decided to share a bottle of Pinot Grigio white wine which was placed in an ice bucket tableside to keep chilled. Complimentary bread was offered and all entrees have a starter house salad or soup included in the price. We each got a pasta or chicken entree chose their house salad to start. I got the Rigatoni All Mia which had homemade noodles, fresh vodka sauce, and I asked for sliced sausage over crumbled. The pasta was perfectly al dente and portion was ideal for a hearty meal and leftovers. We each thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. Our server was great about being attentive and overheard we were celebrating a birthday to have a complimentary cheesecake given to us. What a great dinner experience and happy to revisit a neighborhood hotspot.
